We stopped at this camp for the purpose of visiting the elephant museum. It was free and it was great! Very informative exhibits. It has the tusks of the seven largest elephants who've lived in Kruger. Due to time constraints we were only there for 30 minutes but could have easily spent an hour.

We were self-driving through Kruger and Letaba was our northernmost stop. Not the best choice. Maybe the drought did not help, but there was little game around. The camp has very good facilities, run very badly, with no idea of service. The rest of the place should learn from the shop, which was the exception.

The staff at reception were not very welcoming. They seemed to think they were doing us a favour by checking us in and answering our questions. The camp itself is big. It is not very modern but then I am not sure any of the Kruger camps are. We stayed in a safari tent with 4 single beds, electricity and...

The rest camp itself is in an excellent location, right on the Letaba river. I stayed in a tented camp for two days and was a bit disappointed with the location of the actual tents. Unlike some of the other tented camp facilities on offer from Sanparks, the tented camp at Letaba is part of bigger camp and not secluded...

I would hesitate to call Letaba a destination, more like a half way house. And it shows. The staff try very hard to create "an unforgettable experience" and that's almost always what it turns out to be - but not in a good way. The negatives. There is game here but it doesn't seem like it due to the vastness...

The moodiest camp in the Krüger with a lot of hippos right in front of the fences. Dawn is really spectacular over the river with a lot of birds and mammals, and the game drives are excellent. You will love the antilopes walking around in the camp. We missed a really good restaurant, since Mugg&Beans is boring. Some members of...

Being in the Kruger Park is a huge privilege, however the staff at reception are under the impression they are doing you a huge favour by accepting your booking, what a pity they are so miserable and unhelpful and so overworked (sick joke). Everything for them is a huge effort. what they should take into account is the customer has...

Although we have stayed in Letaba Camp many times it has always been in a two bedroom chalet. This was our first time in a single room. These rooms are very small, not at all comfortable. When you are in bed the air conditioner blows straight into your face and cannot be adjusted. The kitchen equipment was short of quite...

We really enjoyed our three nights in Letaba. Compared to Satara and Skukuza, it could do with an update but the setting is awesome. Buck roam the camp but watch out for the monkeys!! Try and get a perimeter bungalow.

Comfortable thatched huts with good facilities for self catering. Simple but had everything you needed. Close to river with good views of wildlife. Mugg and Bean restaurant for varied and affordable menu. Shop had basic food and alcohol to purchase. Nice pool. Offered range of guided tours to see African animals. Would definitely go back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The idyllic Letaba Rest Camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park. The name means "river of sand", and the sandy riverbed is an excellent location for game viewing, particularly elephant, which thrive in the area. Letaba is a green oasis in the surrounding mopane veld, and remains a firm favourite with visitors. At night the stars overlook a symphony of sounds. Owls, nightjars, frogs, fruit bats, crickets and cicadas all vie to be heard, until the lion roars, then all are silent. ... more   less
