Stayed in Zebra with kitchen. The unit and kitchen was clean, but there was a terrible smell in the kitchen. The tree house (Zebra) is structurally still fine, but they will have to look at plumbing the unit as it between 500mma and 750mm out of plumb and if not rectified soon will fall over. We also had vehicles driving at night past the unit, thus giving us a sense of insecurity.

Having read many of the reviews of Bona Ntaba Tree House Lodge, nearly all of which are highly complimentary, it is difficult to add much to what already has been shared. Our own experience in September 2019 was entirely confirmatory of these reviews. We were the other two people in the group of four mentioned below by Thom.. Whether or not you have serious photography goals, we definitely recommend Bona Ntaba as a destination for your safari in northeastern South Africa. Well-known Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands are nearby. Greg and Karen Sweeney, owners of Bona Ntaba, were our hosts and guides. They are very knowledgeable photographers and naturalists. It was a pleasure to be with them. Our stay at Bona Ntaba was unforgettable, not only because of the tree house accommodations, wonderful cuisine, friendly staff, terrific wildlife viewing and photography, but also because of other experiences that were woven into the agenda. These included meeting a famous hippo, a famous elephant and her friends, two beautiful white lions, visiting an endangered species center, and much discussion about conservation. With unqualified enthusiasm, we recommend that you include Bona Ntaba in the itinerary for your South African safari.

We had been planning this trip for 2 years. Bona Ntaba is a excellent place to rest and relax after a long day of game drives, trips to conservation organizations, rescue organizations and even zip lining. Greg and Karen make sure that everything is just as you would want them in the African Bush. Beds and linen are comfortable and plenty warm at night. The bathroom is fully equipped with outdoor shower and plenty of hot water. High in the trees relaxing at night and listening to the lions and hyenas as you drift off to sleep, giraffes come right to your tree house to eat the fresh buds on the trees overnight and you can see them wandering the grounds of the private game reserve while you are there. Speaking of eating, breakfast and dinner were always tasty and eating outside under the African sky at night was a delight at the end of each day. We had an excellent group photo safari with 2 other couples and would not hesitate to go again. Looking forward to booking the trip again in the Month of May sometime in the future. Baie dankie Greg and Karen. We can't wait to go on another adventure with you.

The Bona Ntaba Tree House Lodge is a lovely destination! We were two of four on a Gregory Sweeney photo safari. The tree houses are tastefully matched with their surroundings and nicely appointed inside. Plenty of hot shower water (great after a day in the bush) and some wonderful views. Situated on a private reserve, wildlife is abundant and easily viewed. SInce we weren't using the self-catering option, we enjoyed the prepared meals. The atmosphere is intimate (like visiting friends) and evening meals in the boma are an experience unto themselves. The photo safari was a well-balanced blend of game drives (including Kruger National Park), visits to local rehabilitation/rescue centers, and a few fascinating one-offs. Gregory & Karen freely share their vast knowledge of Southern African wildlife for a very rich experience and Greg is a font of professional photo experience and advice. I don't often find myself writing glowing reviews. This is one and it is 100% accurate.

We were part of 6 member group on Greg Sweeney's African photography tour staying in the Sweeney's Bona Ntaba Tree House Lodge. The adventure began immediately on the drive to lodge, wildlife everywhere. The lodge borders Kruger National Park and you are treated to a wide variety of wonderful animals. We were fortunate enough to see the "Big Five" at multiple locations. The food was a fabulous combination of dishes with a local flare by Miss Cynthia and the girls. Dinners were served outside under the stars in front of an open fire. My wife is a vegetarian and she loved the vegetarian entrees. Greg and Karen added to the trip with a couple of stops at animal rehabilitation centers where we were able to learn about the struggles and attacks the South African wildlife are enduring. The magnificent landscapes and sunrises/sunsets from our treehouse vantage point were unbelievable! We would foremost recommend Bona Ntaba for an all around authentic South African adventure.
