To get to this hidden gem you need to travel a unpaved road, which is very long and sometimes a bit of a challenge with a normal car. The lodge is set in a private reserve and lots of wildlife stroll around. Once you get to the lodge, it is like you arrived in heaven! The grounds are very well... More

Unfortunately, I only stayed one night while traveling from Johannesburg to Kruger but it was a great nights rest. Very comfortable beds, clean rooms, hot showers, and awesome breakfast. I arrived very late so I didn't get to sample the night meal. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It's definitely... More

We stayed in the kingfisher bungalow and it was very well equipped. We opted in cooking our own dinner and were not left wanting. The bungalow is basic yet homely. Breakfast was great with the fresh made scones needing a mention. Check out the surrounding area and ensure its close to what your travel plans are e.g. Going to graskop... More

Though we didn't receive any free wifi, we only stayed for one night, we were so hungry...and the food is great! Even when you are full, you can't stop eating! Please be advised to organise your network things beforehand, because there is no signal. We had to pay someone urgently online, but weren't able to do so. The drive up... More

Blyde River Wilderness Lodge is a nice place. The rooms are comfortable; the staff is attentive, and the location is lovely. There are a few animals (primarily nyala) on the property, and zebras and giraffes just outside the gates. The setting is idyllic. The food -- breakfast and dinner -- is quite good, but as mentioned elsewhere, it's a fixed... More

Had a reasonable time here with my wife and parents last year. Food was nice although quite a lack of selection. Lack of air conditioning was a bit of a problem (although to be fair this isn't advertised), also the drinks in our minibar were out of date (and the mini bar was turned off). We were disappointed by the... More

We only stayed one night for stopover enroute to Kruger Park. Lovely accomodation with private rock pool, but I was disappointed on discovering Kimba House outside fenced Lodge so no waking up to sounds, view of river and grazing animals as I had expected. The website merely states it is within 50m of main reception area - easy walking distance.... More

This is a small place in a nice location next to the river. Nice gardens with large trees and many birds makes this an attractive place. Nice pool, good size rooms with cooking facilities. Good AC. Internet for a fee available at reception. Restaurant looked nice but they offer a set menu which did not seem all that appealing to... More

We have spend our first night at the lodge and were really surprised by the delicious dinner served on a terrace with a beautiful view over the river. The lodge is located several kilometers away from the main road, providing the feeling to be in the middle of South Africa. The walk to the giraffes after breakfast was one of... More

Such a lovely place we did not want to leave.... kids loved the pools, great food, although some rooms are 'self catering' if all you want to do is Braai. Nyala, peacocks and horses roam freely in grounds and giraffe, zebra and other wildlife in the surrounding park. Cynthia and her staff were lovely. Recommend it for romantic weekend away,... More
