Access control is so tight, you can’t even get out!! Finger print system does not work and every time we entered, we had to do biometrics. Security kept tell us we did not register, after we queued for an hour to check in and did register. Left a VERY bad taste in the mouth the entire time and it ruined the holiday. Cannot wait to leave in 2 days time
Not only were we not informed about the fact that you need to get an access codes everytime you drive out but the security at the gates were very rude about it and we had to drive back to get the codes from reveption. Atleast tell us when we check-in, I still have 5 days in this place and I'm already so annoyed.
This is a lovely resort with lots of trees and very peaceful setting. We booked into a suite as it was a business trip and I needed somewhere quite to work. However, the walls are paper thin and I could hear the guests above and not he side brushing their teeth, using the toilet and their conversations. The resort appeared almost empty. However, when we informed the front desk, I was informed there were only 2 suites in the entire resort and the other one was being used. No offer of a quieter room as it appeared they had placed the few guests in the resort in the same building. Service was very slow and meal options limited. Staff cleaning rooms and serving breakfast were really lovely and worked really hard as there was just one guy looking after all the guests and he tried his best. It was an unstable time because of the pandemic, but I got the impression everyone had given up. It was rather unfortunate as we were hoping to purchase a property here but after our disappointing stay, we made a decision to cancel all planned events there and never go back.…
I really didn’t want to post this but I feel like we have been taken for a ride by this venue and they haven’t done anything to assist us. We keep getting pushed aside like we just someone they owe money to. (Luckily we have a new wedding venue but this venue still has our money, they cancelled our date, but advertising for weddings at their venue!?) Zimbali Coastal Resort & Estate Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Zimbali Zimbali Lodge was our dream wedding venue! We went there and met with the wedding planners and we loved everything about it. We then signed the contracts and paid R25 000 as a deposit. Then Covid hit and we were told that Zimbali went under business rescue. We understood why and how this happened (as we also suffered major financial losses), and we just hoped that all would be sorted out before our wedding date. All we wanted was to keep the date at the venue. After a few months we were told that our date was cancelled, and our money was tied up in the Business Rescue process and we had to wait it out. The date for a final decision on all debts was initially December 2020, then moved to Jan 2021 , now it is a March 2021. What really is confusing for me is that they are still trading, they still having weddings and still advertising for people to have their weddings at Zimbali lodge!! Why was our date cancelled if they still having weddings? Why do they still have our deposit if they still trading and making money?? Please can someone assist and let me know what we can do to get our deposit back!! They don’t even reply to us when we ask... they refer us to their website which has no information on WHEN we will get our money back. But again, they still having weddings at the venue!!…
