This hotel truly is a family hotel where you can find relaxation and your kids will find lots of fun things to do. Walking distance to the sea, fun coffee shops and good restaurants are nearby. If you don't want to worry for a few days about having to wear the latest fashion, or your hair and make-up stay at...

HOTEL’S FAVORITE REVIEW

Don't let the words old-fashioned put you off - it's a compliment. The room, and indeed the hotel was well appointed and maintained. We had a re-furbished King room and it was very nice indeed. By old-fashioned I mean the lovely heritage feel, and the warm and friendly staff, who were wonderful. Food was great too.Rarely have I felt such...

I visited before and came back with high expectations. What a disappointment! The hotel looks a little "run down" on inside. Room smelled like old mildew. No room service after 21:00. An annoying beep every 5 seconds in the corridor, which was reported to front desk. Seems to be the internet and couldn't do anything about it. Had to sleep...

Rates are reasonable and the staff are absolutely great with children. It is also a safe environment for children. The manager even walked my children to the closest shop. My chuldten even went for a massage at reasonable prices. Dinner buffet in Sunday night was great. I can recommend families to make use use of this hotel.

They started on a very good foot with a bright cheerful lady answering the phone and making my booking, but after that it was pretty much down hill. When we arrived there was no one at the desk and we had to ring the bell and wait..and wait...and wait. Eventually a very surely guy arrived with no greeting or apology...

We stayed one night in the Wilderness Hotel on our way between Plettenberg and Hermanus. It was extremely good value for the night and the breakfast was top notch. The hotel itself is a bit dated and the corridors smelled a bit musty. One negative is that you have to pay to use the gym, which is owned by the...

Very good location. general staff very friendly. They show interest in you as a person and not as a client only. They would assist when requested upon. Certain areas of the building need continuous care and upkeep.

We stopped here one afternoon on our drive through the garden route. Were told that the newly refurbished rooms were all full but there were 2 other rooms that we could have a look at. We chose one and as it hadn't been refurbished, were offered it at a reduced price. Extremely clean room with balcony, tea tray, fridge and...

Enjoyed the week-end tremendously. Would suggest this venue to anyone who wishes to enjoy a value for money week-end get-away. Sleep Quality: Generator was a bit noisy at times during the night. It switches on and off the entire night.

A restful place in an idyllic location. We (3) loved it on the first occasion, and I still love the place. It had not changed much, like so many places have. So there were no disappointments of previous memories. (miss the Choo-Choo train, though)

Dear Brian - Thanks for sharing your love for this 'ole place' with us! Believe me - we passionately feel the same and we feel very privileged to call it home! We're glad we can offer you that real, authentic 'home away from home' family hotel experience. Good news about the Choo-choo though...looks like the project will be up and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Garden Route's oldest and best-loved Hotels! With a grand tradition as honeymoon spot, family hotel and a tourist and business destination, it's steeped in tradition and it's got a warm, old-style charm. But it's also a modern hotel with all the facilities you need - The 150-bedroom property boasts a beauty spa, two swimming pools, a bowling green, two tennis courts, a squash court, putt-putt and six banqueting halls and conference rooms. We are situated almost in the centre of the Garden Route - 45 minutes' drive to both Mossel Bay and Knysna, less than an hour to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo. Not to mention 300 meters from golden beaches, surrounded by indigenous forests and striking lagoons. It's a Mecca for sport and adventures and Wilderness is part of the unfenced Garden Route National Park - with some of the world's most popular walks and trails. All of this makes The Wilderness Hotel perfect for niche markets like birders, mountain bikers, golfers and for tour companies too, of course. ... more   less
