We arrived late. It was dark and raining. the time was 7p.m. We asked if there was somewhere in the hotel where we could order a sandwich. We were told that the coffee shop was closed and if we wanted to get something the Spar was up the road. My husband kicked up a fuss and they reluctantly came forward with a menu from the local pizza place. Seeing the coffee shop was only supposed to close at 8 this was a poor show. Accommodation was satisfactory. Serviced only twice a week. Wonderful patio. Have to pay extra for aircon. This timeshare needs to be remember that one goes on holiday to relax. Not to wash dishes after e very meal. Unfortunately couldn't go down to the beach because the rains had washed the walkway away. We went to report this to the management who denied any knowledge of it.. Other than that a pleasant stay. Would we stay there again. No. Better accommodation elsewhere in Natal with service every day. Normal proximity to the beach at normal times is first class

When I booked the accommodation it stated air-conditioning However when u check in you have to buy vouchers for the aircon. This is really the first time I experienced something like this from such a big group. Really disappointed

You can't stay closer to the sea, especially in the three bedroom apartments that overlook the beach and kiosk. All three bedrooms have sliding doors out the patio. Two bathrooms, one with bath & shower and other with shower-over-bath. These apartments are the number 1 & 2 on every floor, with Floor 4 being the 'ground floor' where reception is. There are two ramps for wheelchair users, one at each end of the building, with the lift to floors 1, 2, 3, 5 & 6 being in the middle at Reception. Its worth it to ask for an apartment on 4th floor if you have difficulty using the stairs, with easy access to the parking area. Your luggage is transported from the parking area to the apartment with wheeled trolleys that make use of the lift. The parking is fairly compact and there aren't many available spaces if you arrive with more than one car. But the guard at the gate is very helpful and will go out of his way to help. During Covid, the unit is cleaned before arrival and once during the stay, at a time agreed to at Check In.

Check in day Smooth, quick and efficient check inn with friendly staff. Very spacious apartment - neat and clean adhering to strict covid protocol. Beautiful sea facing room. The guard at the entrance of the hotel was very welcoming and helpful. Our stay - Pros Beautiful clean spacious pool area. Lovely heated pool. Lots of fun and entertainment for the family. Chante and crew were absolutely fun 🎉 The guy who cleans the braai stands is very friendly. The resort is very well located - near the laundromat and all shops. The beach is just a quick walk down from the resort. Well maintained tennis court - my family made great use of it. Our stay - Cons Quite disappointing that you have to pay extra to use the aircon - not common for a 4* resort. Also, the room doesn't get cleaned everyday. This was quite a put may, thoff for us. After playing at the beach, my eldest daughter got really sick and messed on the carpet. Unfortunately, with the limited resources that we had, it was hard to clean the carpet and no housekeeping to come and clean. The next night, my baby daughter got really sick and she vomited. No house keeping to bring clean sheets or to assist in cleaning. By 10:30am the next morning, dirty laundry was not collected nor was clean sheets brought. A while later, housekeeping came to change the linen. I asked for extra sheets incase my daughter got sick again that night, but to my absolute disey had NOT A SINGLE EXTRA SHEET IN THE WHOLE RESORT. On arrival, we were asked which days would we like the cleaning lady to clean. I gave two days and times. On the second cleaning day, no one pitched to clean. I called house keeping and the lady that came was so angry that she had to be there. She said our room wasn't allocated to anybody to be cleaned. This is such poor communication between whoever was involved in dealing with this. Generally every resort has its rooms cleaned on a daily basis so it was quite annoying that this was not like that. We needed to go to a pharmacy to get medication because by the end of the week, my whole family was sick. The pharmacist was warning everyone not to drink the water in the area and not to play in the beach as the sewer leaks into the water and everyone is getting sick. We noticed a few other guests who were also complaining of getting sick after playing in the beach. We realised this was probably why there was a shortage of sheets as many people were sick 🤦‍♀️ A suggestion would be to warn guests before hand about people getting sick after playing in the beach. Check out Efficient check out with a kind gesture to give a parting gift. Security guards very sincere in their parting greetings. Overall Great resort, but poor operational management. I do understand that there are certain restrictions due to covid, but with all the cut backs on things, perhaps review the price - As the price remains the same, but we are short changed in other ways.

Thank you for taking the time to rate our resort, it is really appreciated. We are delighted you were impressed with our location and facilities. We are proud of the fact that we cater for all ages to ensure everyone has a wonderful holiday experience. There is a minimal charge for the air conditioner which is part of our initiative to save energy. To ensure the safety of our guests we have introduced a cleaning service only once a week in units ensuring all COVID-19 safety protocols are followed and to minimize staff and guest contact. Our Housekeeping Department is open from 08h00 to 20h00 and any problems after that are seen to the next morning. We assure you that adequate extra linen is available and the cleaner must have just misunderstood you. Refresher training will be given to ensure this does not happen again. We were not aware of any health issues. The beach where there was a problem with a sewer leak was Uvongo Beach and not Lucien Beach where our resort is situation. We look forward to hosting you and your family on your next holiday and that you will visit us again soon.

We always come back to La Cote DÁzur because it is very well situated. Staff and security always very friendly. Rooms and restaurant as well as upgraded lift and pool area very well done! We required two double beds for the two rooms and they assisted us immediately

I was pleasantly surprised at this resort since Margate has deteriorated over the last few years. Friendly staff, clean rooms, activities for kids, amazing views, good food from the restaurant and close proximity to the beach and some of the positives. I was irked that I had to purchase prepaid electricity to use the aircon and was not refunded for the credits not used and the parking space was very tight. I hope the resort keeps up with maintenance and I hope to return.

La cote dazur is right on the beach however half the units look over the back of the apartments in front who in turn look straight into your lounge, you can see the sea to the side and a bit to the south of the bay, the parking bays are very tight especially if you have a double cab or suv like most south africans, my main reason for an average review is when we booked in we were not told you have to buy aircon vouchers? For a start, what 4 star rated resort makes you pay extra for aircon, not any i have ever been too. Anyway after the first night sleeping in a pool of sweat, we bought aircon hoping for a decent nights sleep only to find the aircon constantly tripped the power in the fuse board, front desk did send some noisy box fans though, like i said 4* ? Not in my book.

La Cote Dazur stay was good. Rooms are a bit hot and there's an additional charge for aircon which is not nice considering the fact you already paid a lot of money for accommodation. Has beautiful well maintained facilities.
