We (4 women) had arrived in Durban after being in transit from the US for over 20 hours. We had booked 2 rooms for an overnight stay, as we were continuing onward to Hluhluwe Imfolozi the following day. We found our sea-view rooms to be clean and well maintained. The bedding was more than comfortable (subjective? - not sure). The... More

Lovely hotel. Maybe a bit old-fashioned, as some people have commented, but in a charming way! We had a family suite with 2 balconies and amazing views over both the ocean and the stadium. Hotel is in a great location, and we felt safe walking around nearby and leaving our car on the street outside, with the security guard checking.... More

Unfortunately, had a net negative experience at the Blue Waters. The hotel is very old and despite claims that it was recently renovated it was difficult to tell. The hallways felt like those in college dorms. There was an unusual window in the bathroom that led to the hallway. The rooms were relatively clean though there was mold in the... More

Unfortunately, I had a NET NEGATIVE experience at the Blue Waters. We had problems from the minute of check in. The hotel is very old and the floors feel like you are in a college dorm. Strangely there are windows in the bathroom which open into the hall?? When we checked in the safe did not work (which was fixed)... More

The hotel is beautifully situated by the beach. My room had a balcony view of the ocean and Moses Mabida stadium. It also had a room for kids with two single beds. Everything I needed was provided for, bathroom essentials, clean towels and tea replenished everyday. The downside is that everything has a price tag, wifi, parking. It's within walking... More

The hotel is still being refurbished, so there are some improvements but it is still an old hotel. When we stayed there were severe rainstorms and many rooms were flooded (water came in through the balconys). They did change rooms for those who wanted to. Food wasn't bad. But there was no internet available in the rooms - which was... More

I have to stay in Durban for a conference this week. The room is average sized with a small balcony, which makes it feel less claustrophobic. The door frames are rusted and not sealed. The bar is directly below me and music plays loudly at night. I'm on the 4th floor. This seems to be the busiest with regards to... More

This is a beach front hotel, part of the famed "golden mile" beach of Durban, and built either in the 60's or early 70's based on the design and rooms. I must say I was mightily disappointed. Location is beautiful. Service was gracious and we were greeted with fresh orange + lemon water at the check-in counter, but when we... More
