The chic, upscale suites are individually decorated in varying themes ranging from Eastern influence to French provincial, each featuring every desired modern amenity. The hotel also caters to a variety of culinary tastes with an array of elegant dining experiences to choose from. Located in Johannesburg - South Africa’s largest city and gateway to the rest of Africa - Fairlawns is situated just 6 km from central Sandton, and 20 km from the Johannesburg city centre to offer the upmarket traveller a delicate mix of luxury and convenience. Established in 1997, Fairlawns, or “FBH” as it’s come to be affectionately known by Managing Director, Michael Kewley, is a property proud in heritage and character. When entering this property, you are welcomed by the black and white tiles, interior that's inviting. One of the most beautiful properties I've ever been. Luscious green garden, inviting smell, pockets of private sitting in the garden. This property will blow you away, and it comes with excellent service

Delicious lunch. Badly served. From dirty lipstick stained glasses for wine. Sushi salad served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil instead of soya sauce. Long periods of time before a waiter could be attracted to our table. Knife lying near another table with numerous waiters just walking past. We were told that the wine which we didn’t finish would be at reception waiting for us, wasn’t there. Reception had to hunt around to locate it. Wonderful Maitre d’ and the Chef produced lovely food which was spoiled by poor service.

We spent a wonderful night in a Courtyard Suite at the magnificent Fairlawns Boutique Hotel. Everything from the booking process was effortless and efficient, and that theme permeates with all the interactions with the staff there, from security to wait-staff to front desk. The property itself is stunning, bursting with greenery and well-thought-out little nooks and crannies to explore. You would never believe that you are in the heart of the city. We had lunch on Friday on the gorgeous patio, followed by a delicious visit to the spa (a must-do), and a memorable dinner at Amuse Bouche on Friday evening. The food was superb and the wine list has something for everyone. Excellent sleep quality, generous bathrooms, and beautifully decorated rooms make this an excellent choice for a weekend away.

We stayed over for a Sunday night and had a spa massage on the Monday morning. The hotel has 41 rooms that are all decorated differently. Our room was exquisite. One of the top 5 rooms that we’ve stayed in . The dinner was really good and not to badly priced for the 5star service. The spa is really peaceful with a heated pool to laze around in after your session. The hotel is quiet and relaxing, the staff are well informed and very friendly.

Unfortunately we had a shocking experience at Fairlawns at their restaurant. I sent a complaint by email and they did not even bother replying. The only thing enjoyable was the actual food, the booking in process and restaurant were not great and the service was terrible - the price and promise of such a high level are not worth the amount they charge. I was very disappointed and will not return.
