The place is dirty and unkempt. The manager Perter seemed to be on another planet, the bedding was dirty. we went for breakfast. No food at all. no milk for the tea. This place is run on a shoe string budget with next to no staff. We had booked for 2 nights we only stayed 1, and requested a refund....

i constantly stay at African tribes anytime i am in South Africa but my last visit was the most pleasant. African Tribes is the place you want to be if on a low budget. the low budget doesnt however mean low quality. Pieter and his staff are friendly and wont stop till you are comfortable. the surroundings is also secure...

I have not stayed in the rooms but as a conference venue the place is a complete joke. There is one room which you would think is under 10 feet of concrete as cell phone signal is near impossible in the room and the WiFi is barely accessible. The doors to the venue do not close entirely and situated right...

I stayed 10 days in Joburg while there on a business trip. The rooms were very nice. Staff was very helpful. The breakfast was very pleasing. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I felt very safe in the secure compound. I would highly recommend it for foreign travelers.

Pieter, the manager and his friendly staff provided a comfortable and enjoyable place of rest while I passed through South Africa enroute to Cameroon (and also on my return a month later) The bed in both of the rooms which I stayed in was firm but comfortable; I was pleased with the free Internet service; the breakfast menu was varied...

We stayed at African Tribes twice, two nights on our arrival in Joburg and two nights prior to our departure. Pieter and his entire staff (just too many really great folks to name here) were most gracious and made us feel at home immediately. The lodge is charming and wonderfully furnished. The meals were excellent and the rooms were very...
