We stayed here twice as part of a Nat Geo tour. The hotel was very clean and the food was good. The hotel arranged for a day tour for us which was very good. We had arrived one day early. A downside is the location does not allow any opportunity to walk etc. This was only an issue since we arrived a day early. As with many properties in S Africa, this property had been closed for an extended period.
The location is very convenient, for you are right near the airport. The Owner was very hospitable and did whatever you needed to accommodate your needs. If you ask, they'll give you a hairdryer. The rooms are comfortable enough with good water pressure, hot water and a t.v. The bed is pretty hard, unless you like that. However, the room was freezing cold!! (We were there in the Winter). There is a wall heater, but it only heats the area right under it. It doesn't circulate to the rest of the room and definitely not into the bathroom. Once you're in bed, you are warm due to very effective blankets. It's just hard to get out of bed and into the cold. Meals are in the small dining room. The food was well prepared and tasty, just not options if you don't care for what they are serving that evening. That was the only drawback regarding the food. Overall, a decent option if passing through the area.…
My wife and I were on our honeymoon traveling to multiple countries over the course of 1.5months. Given that all of our flights routed though JNB. After the first night we opted to stay here all 4 times we came back to the area. The owners are great, the staff is awesome, there’s a large courtyard area allowing you to hang out outside instead of a hotel room, the food was great and the bar was well stocked. We will be staying again next time we are back.
We really enjoyed our stay at Safari club. It’s the perfect stopover on your way to safari. Clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Innocent picked us up from the airport, checked us in and opened the bar. He was a great host! We had a good sleep and breakfast. Will recommend to all.
Very convenient and budget friendly option to spend a night after a long-haul flight from the US. Transfers from the airport and back again are included in the price. The lodge itself is about a 5-10 min drive from the airport and is gated. We felt completely safe there with a restaurant onsite for dinner and breakfast; they do not provide lunch but can arrange for a restaurant to deliver. We had two rooms in the main building and they were comfortable. There was a bit of mold on the ceiling in one of the bathrooms but something that I’m sure would be easy to fix. Booking directly through Alastair, the owner, was very easy. He didn’t even take a credit card to hold the room. We had washed a few items by hand that didn’t dry completely overnight. Alastair and his staff were kind enough to put them in their dryer for us at no charge. They returned within minutes folded. Great hospitality at Safari Club!…
We stayed here after our flight from the U.K. to Johannesburg before getting another flight the next day to Hoedspruit. Staff were really lovely, breakfast and dinner were really tasty. Rooms nice and comfortable for an over night stay & as we had the entire day there, the staff arranged a last minute trip for us to go on which was absolutely brilliant. Would certainly recommend staying here.
Anisha was very welcoming and helpful getting us settled and planning our day in Johannesburg. Tom was very knowledgeable and ensured we learned the history of the city & took us to an authentic SA pub. Innocent and Bornwell were so welcoming and fun to spend time with at the bar. They shared their culture and experiences with us. I could not have been more pleased with our stay.
We stayed for a night en route to Botswana on safari. The proprietor, Alistair, gave us invaluable advice regarding dressing for the game drives which made a huge difference to our holiday as we were woefully unprepared. Our pick-ups and drop-offs from and to the airport were punctual and problem-free.
We stayed in this hotel on the way to and from Botswana for safari. The advice from Alistair was invaluable to our enjoyment of our trip as we were woefully unprepared for the cold experienced during the game drives. Thank you, sir. We were collected from and dropped off at the airport by Innocence who did a great job - thanks, Inoocence!
I really enjoyed my stay. The service was great as was the location and I really appreciated the airport pickup and drop off service included with the nightly rate. A special thanks to all the staff including Innocent the driver for providing such great service. Alistair, the owner, went out of his way to ensure guests were well looked after,
