We stayed at this Guest House on our two days in South Africa. We arrived around 10 am after a 15 hour flight from JFK to Johannesburg. Our hostess welcomed us and showed us to our rooms which were already available. We had a two room suite with a kitchen. We were able to shower up and take a lovely walk down to the shops and cafes that were very close by. The residential street was lined with lovely Jacaranda Trees. Our hostess was very helpful about restaurants and places to visit during our stay. We were treated to a wonderful breakfast each morning that included fresh fruit, yogurt and granola as well cooked to order eggs, choice of breakfast meats, tomatoes and mushrooms and toast. Coffee, tea and lattes were also available. The hotel had a lovely pool and while it was a bit too chilly for swimming, it was enjoyable for sitting and enjoying wine before dinner.…
Rooms are lovely, clean, with all amenities. host Giselle is warm and welcoming, as are Thabo and Mickson - really clean, comfortable. Very near Parkview with shops and restaurants, but also offer frozen meals which I find very convenient if i dont want to go out on my own. Greatly stocked bar fridge as well. very central to get around Jhb.
For the past two years, I have spent approximately three months of the year staying At The Zoo while working on a client in Johannesburg (I am based in Durban). This has truly become a home away from home. The staff are very friendly and professional, and provide that personal touch that is lacking in a larger hotel or bed and breakfast. The breakfasts are always delicious and my room is meticulously made up every day and in the evenings when I am not around. The staff are respectful of my privacy and because I stay in one of the cottages, it really does feel as though I have my own space. Uncapped WiFi ensures that I am always connected, both for work purposes and to relax with a favorite online tv show, and a full DSTV package is provided in all the rooms. The neighborhood is tranquil and safe, and I often go for runs in the morning in the peaceful surroundings. Overall it is always a pleasure staying here, and a huge thank you to Gisela, Mickson and Thabu for a great experience!…
So much fun!! We were treated extremely well during our stay. Everyone always had a smile and were so willing to help. The rooms were very cozy and had everything you needed. VERY CLEAN!! I felt very cared for and valued there. The owner, Gisela, arranged for tours and transportation and even worried where we were when we returned late one day!!! Breakfast was always wonderful and available when we wanted it. Would definitely stay again.
A very well managed guest house that makes one feel at home away from home. The rooms are well kept to an excellent standard, the service in explicit, personalised and very friendly. The small swimming pool is clean and the surrounding area a great place to relax in. Breakfast service is exquisite too and swift with a wide selection of beverages in terms of teas and coffees.
