Mthatha seemed the obvious stop off between Port Elizabeth and Durban. Location is easy to find - you're almost out of the north side of the city when you get to the Big Five Guest House, and its just off the N2.

Very good rooms, quiet place and friendly staff. A confortable place with a good kitchen.. There is nothing around and there is not a hotel for spent the day. (Not a really garden or swimming pool)

Booked the accommodation through our travel agent - found it on Trip Advisor. You pay 1st then book - all hotels was fully booked. Rooms generally good, service was good, clean, friendly staff, safe & quiet. Breakfast served was good. Situated towards the Kokstad side...More
I recently had to stay in Mthatha for business and having not stayed at Big Five before, I was very sceptical. To my surprise, the rooms were neat and comfortable, the shower was spacious and most importantly the lady providing breakfast was sweet and accommodating.
