An older historic hotel beautifully set. The owner is descended from a family that were among the first settlers in Port Elizabeth. Worth asking about. All the basic comforts you need and gorgeous views over the bay. The exterior and some fixtures need a bit of work. The hotel is excellent value for money, The restaurant area is nicely set but can be overcrowded at times. Check in can be a bit wanting if they're busy, Limited free wifi

Hated the welcome we got. It's so sad that we felt so unwelcome. It felt like we were staying here at the hotels expense or beggars. Sorry I will never stay here again. Its a shame, such a lovely hotel.

Firstly, the welcoming at reception was a bit too casual and not really professional to meet the standard of a hotel. Secondly, the beauty of a place is in the detail and this place does not take care of the detail. This creates a low quality and cheap feel to the entire place. The room we stayed in did not have basic accessories (no telephone, no iron, no tv remote, and no bar fridge). The quality of the bed (which is two 3/4 beds joined) requires attention. The location of the place is perfect, and it has a great view. But thats about it. I only stayed one night, and thats all i could manage. It could be such a great place if they focused on the finer detail issues. For this reason i gave it a poor rating and would not recommend it to anyone.

We wanted to book accommodation in a prime beach aria in Port Elizabeth on a budget. So, because of the rate (with breakfast included) we arrived with an open mind. What a surprise. We received a very friendly reception and a huge room with fantastic sea view. Dinner in the restaurant was great too. Still cannot believe what we got for the price.

I was looking for a chain hotel, but the conference web page suggested the excellent price, and when I read that all rooms have sea views, I decided to book at the Chapman hotel. After booking, I had to change the dates and was pleasantly surprised with the prompt responses from the hotel. On arrival, we were welcomed by friendly staff and showed a nice crisp white and blue queen room. The only thing missing from the room as the hair dryer, but this was supplied and we had a lovely stay. All the staff are friendly and helpful and we were very impressed with the service (from the cleaning of the room to the food served). Talking about food - breakfast and lunch is a must here. Excellently prepared and not expensive at all. We did look at the dinner menu, but did not get a chance to test. I need to say again, both the owners and the staff are the best and we had a lovely time. The hotel address does not show up easily on the GPS, though. O and when we arrived, there were no hand towels, but this was also corrected. Really a good stay and excellent food at a very good price. Recommended.
