A friend and I recently stayed at the Gardens at Mile High Ranch during the weekend of the Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is convenient (directly on Tombstone Canyon rd.) and the surroundings were quiet and serene. The greeting when we arrived was warm and pleasant and the host provided us a brochure of the area and pointed out the convenient shuttle service available for pick-up and drop-off. We loved every moment of our stay. I would recommend to others.
My second visit back with my husband. I just wish it had come sooner! I haven’t been here in a few years so I’m seeing the new touches to the property and latest improvements are so nice but still with that warm welcome and feeling of home. My room was clean, fresh and comfortable. I love feeling like I’ve got a home away from home. My husband loves the outdoors so for him to be able to sit outside in the trees is such a gift. And I love the hammock! I stayed in room 5 and the sweet room was perfect. Bed was comfortable. I love that there are no stairs and we get to park next to the room! Bisbee is a unique experience but at the gardens I feel at home in bisbee.
Our room reflects mold on the shower curtain, filthy shower floor, the bedspread had been flipped over to disguise stains and was unwashed, and the A/C was very noisy. Add to that inadequate parking because the owners allowed a juniper tree to grow out to a point where it covered almost half of the parking space for that unit. The units across ours had parking spots that were initially empty and we could pull in and back up at an angle. The following night, the guests arrived and we had no option but to park at the end of the property near the street. We also had issues with so many spiders that they were in the bed, towels, making webs behind bedposts and found them in our shoes the next morning. It was like that movie “Arachnophobia” and I didn’t anticipate having to deal with such as it was a hotel and not a cabin out in the center of the woods! The bathroom fixture only had one dim bulb that worked when we arrived the first night. As it was, the bathroom mirror was maybe 10” round and the window had no screen to vent it out so you had to keep it shut due to all the outgrown vegetation behind the unit’s wall. Only one window opened behind the bed and that probably was the entrance point for the spiders. None of the other 2 windows opened so it was stuffy and smelled moldy. The next day, the owner gave us a replacement bulb that turned out to be dead and she later replaced it and stated she sprayed for bugs while we were gone that evening. I can’t honestly say if the spray helped as we came back to finding new spiders making webs behind the bathroom door and near bed frame again. We stayed 2 nights as we were there for the weekend and couldn’t wait to leave the next morning as this place was disgusting. I would never recommend it to anyone.…
This was my first trip to Bisbee in the 20 years I've been living in Arizona so I did an enormous amount of research on where to stay. You can stay "downtown" and party on Brewery Ave or you can stay here....at the Gardens. I was greeted warmly by Maggie (the proprietress) and it was fine for me to wait on her front porch while she checked my booking, I also understand that this is her personal home & personal space. I stayed in #5 and is was a lovely unit, very clean with a comfortable couch and living area, a separate bedroom with a HUGE king sized bed, a bath and a little galley kitchen. The galley kitchen was a small four burner gas stove/oven, a microwave, and other small appliances (coffee maker/toaster). My one and only issue was the little refrigerator which was one of those small units, was missing ALL of the bars on the door so I could not store anything there and the fridge seemed to freeze everything. I had to laugh a little at the previous posters comment on the GARDENS. This is Arizona......a desert......DRY as a bone. Did they expect the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? There were beautiful purple irises and other wildflowers blooming. All in all it was a great stay for me.…
Just read the reply from the manager to "disappointed review" and think it was a VERY unprofessional response because the review WAS SPOT ON! I am still driving back from my overnight and nothing that reviewer said was incorrect. While I agree it was mostly clean (though dingy), and the pics of the inside of the rooms online did match, it was so distressed, old, dingy, outdated and the outside pics looked NOTHING like their website. The "gardens" were scarce and mostly weedy. The woman that greeted us was very nice, but we had to stay on the front porch during check in. I didnt see if "disappointed" posted pictures but I sure will. This was definately a run down motel.
