I can't imagine a better place to stay. Small, 7 unit property all with bathrooms and a kick ass back meeting space for gathering, a chimenea, a self standing sauna that they're happy to set up for you, music during festival weekends and the nicest, coolest staff. I sat down and talked to front desk expert Syn/Sin/Cin (?) for like 45 minutes to get the skinny on Bisbee when I checked in and felt at home. Up a small hike from the main part of town, it was quiet and breezy at night, the bed and wifi were awesome, and there's a small creek that separates the yard from the units just outside the door. 3 sweet property dogs greet you on your way to the mini mart just around the corner. The parking lot is spacious and well marked and is complemented by a beautiful mural that encapsulates the enchantment of Bisbee. All this and for the best price in town. A real treasure.…
We were thinking to stay in Bisbee an extra night- we loved the people, food, and mine tours. The Jonquil Hotel was suggested by several locals, we booked one of the last rooms. It was relaxed, very clean, friendly owners, easy golf cart distance from town- with a wonderful back yard for sitting. Glad we stayed
Bisbee is an old mining town that has been reborn as a destination. I was looking for a motel that had the flavor of a 1940's-1950's motel and I found it. The motel is a 15 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy area which made it quiet and quite pleasant. I initially had some misgivings when I saw it because it was so close to the road but we were in room 1, which is the closest and noise was never a problem. the parts of the stay worth mentioning started at check-in. the couple that owns/runs the motel were very personable and friendly without being obtrusive. Their passion for the motel evident. The room was dated as I had wanted, with the look and feel of what I remembered as a child. BUT it was a lot cleaner than I remember those motels of my youth being. There was obvious care and attention to detail taken. there was very sketchy cell coverage at the motel (T-Mobile) but the Wi-Fi was excellent. the only real drawback for me was the bed. it was comfortable but my wife and I are used to king size and the largest they have is a queen. I knew that before booking so I was not shocked. the courtyard was great to sit in and chat with the staff or other guests. I would definitely recommend this motel…
This charming motel is comfortable, clean, owned by locals, and in a central location. The price is amazing and you’ll love having your screen door in the cool evenings. The courtyard is a great place to meet other friendly travelers. We stayed in room 4 and will stay again when we’re back in Bisbee.
The Jonquil is a vintage '40s mom 'n pop motel. It is well maintained, with small rooms typically of that era. Room 1 has an atypically large tile bathroom with walk in shower. The current Mom 'n Pop are friendly, accommodating, and efficient. Like many such small operations, the office isn't always open. One might want to coordinate their check-in appropriately. There is ample off street parking, a rarity on Canyon Road. There are outside tables and chairs in front which in warm weather might attract evening revelers whose noise would upset this grouchy reviewer; happily no one was sitting outside in the winter. (Winter travelers should bear in mind the altitude of Bisbee; it is not the average balmy Arizona winter) I am not sure what defines 'quirky' so put 'not sure,' but it is definitely not a cookie cutter chair property. Those who expect fitness rooms and spas won't be happy with the Jonquil, but I would recommend it to anyone looking for basic vintage lodging cheaper than the downtown Bisbee hotels--and unlike the downtown hotels, with off street parking…
