Susie and Rod are phenomenal! Their cabins are quaint and stocked with everything you could need! Trapper creek is a great area and the set up for our friends wedding was perfect! Another shout out to Rod for helping us when we got a flat tire! He was so great about it and we couldn’t have been more appreciative!! 100/10 recommend staying here !
Gate Creek Cabins is a perfect setup for rest, relaxation, adventure or in our case, a remote refuge where we took the opportunity to work on our business models. Susie was very accommodating upon arrival and the best resource for information on things we wanted to do. We chose to stay in the Trap Line cabin which was very cozy and supplied everything we wanted or needed as a couple. We were able to tap into the internet through their WiFi connection so that made our business planning go smoothly. Outside of our own personal work we were able to enjoy the outdoors and view Denali from the back porch deck. There is a grill on the deck but we chose all of our cooking inside. The kitchen is loaded with all the accoutrements including a stockpile of herbs and spices. This is a very peaceful getaway and a great place to find wildlife if that is of interest. In the four days during our stay we have encountered moose, black bear, caribou, porcupine, jack rabbit, ptarmigan bird, great sunsets and views of Denali. These were all found not too far from the property during our driving escapades. I highly recommend these accommodations. Next time we come it will be for snowmobiles and the Norther lights.…
So much fun for anyone! Love our time at Gate Creek!! We’ve made so many memories here over the years. It’s a magical place! Very relaxing and fun people to hang out with. Winter snow machine tours are epic!
We were so fortunate to find and book part of our Alaskan vacation at this place. We had a wonderful time with Susie, the host! So friendly! The cabins are so clean and cozy! Setting is remote and beautiful! We got a great view of Denali the first day there! We also saw a moose and baby about 50 yards from our cabin! Fishing was great, caught a ~30 inch rainbow trout. We released him so someone else could enjoy catching him. We would love to return to this charming place!
This is a must stay when on the Parks Highway. Lovely charming property and grounds. The attention to every little detail is incredible. Even the sheets and towels smell like they were washed in my home. We don’t visit Alaska without staying here.
We stayed in the "Denali" cabin (which did not disappoint, we had just a few hours of being able to see the mountain!) with three kids and three adults - it was just perfect, well-stocked amenities, full kitchen, lake with kayaks provided. Just a nice place to relax. We went fishing nearby at a very popular spot with lots of salmon. This is, like many other reviewers have noted, a remote place, but a rather convenient stop between the more busy Anchorage and Denali, and perfect if you want a more remote experience without having to fly. One day, when it rained, we drove into Talkeetna (about 40 minutes each way) which was a very cool (but pretty touristy) little town.
Gate Creek Cabins was the perfect location for our family vacation. We had a group of 10 ages 2 to 81 in the Denali and Forget Me Not cabins. This is a great destination if you want to avoid resorts but have a comfortable home base between day trips. The cabins are only 45 minutes from Denali State Park (not the national park) and 40 minutes from Talkeetna. The cabins were clean, quiet and very comfortable with everything we needed need for cooking. They do a great job maintaining the grounds and the lake was a big attraction. The owner was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. Oliver the yellow lab was a great ambassador.
Susie is a great host who made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. Our cabin (the Moose Nugget) was delightful, and the setting is gorgeous. We spent two nights here on our way from Fairbanks to Willow. The drive out Petersville Road is pretty with several places to see Denali on the south side. If we make it back to this area, we will DEFINITELY stay here again.
Family of six, four teens. We picked this location because it is half way between Denali and Anchorage. 2 1/2 hours to either. Very affordable, clean, comfortable and roomy cabins. Susie the owner is very helpful and friendly. Of note, it IS a remote location. Nothing nearby really. We saw moose, and did some fishing in the pond out back but the mosquitoes were in a frenzy, even with bug spray! so our outdoor time was limited. Not anything anyone can do about that.....just take that into account! Overall excellent accommodations! Susie is wonderful!!
From the second we got there to the second we left, Susie (owner) was so wonderfully welcoming and accommodating. The cabin we stayed at was so quaint and lovely and the moose we saw were cool! The views were peaceful and spectacular. Such a fun stay!!! Didn’t want to leave
