I had wonderful time at Shams Alam, the resort is beautiful and not too big so it’s easy to get around. I obtained my Open Water Certificate at the Wadi el Gimal diving center. The crew was a joy to be around and helpful from beginning to end. The reefs are stunning and colorful, you’ll find turtles, many tropical fishes and if you’re lucky like me, even sea cows! I also definitely recommend doing a desert safari with M.O safari, a private company located at the resort. Usama is a great guide who knows the nearby national park, Wadi el Gimal, like the back of his hand! We took quads through the desert to see the sunset and went for a camel ride at a Bedouin Camp in the desert. We drove back under the starry night sky to the resort. A truly adventurous and magical experience!
Our third stay. The Hotel was closed for many months due to Covid 19, but it was really nice to see so many of the same staff there, and even nicer to be remembered and welcomed back by them! Management and all the staff do their best to make your stay enjoyable, and are genuinely friendly. Gardeners are working hard to replace plants which died during the closure, and the gardens will soon be back to their normal beauty. Only a few days out of 14 without strong wind, so visibility in the sea was not so good, but the coral is still in good condition. My partner loves dogs, so was very content there. This is not really a good choice for young people, we appreciated the peace and quiet. Hope we will be back next October.
It was our 2nd time at Shams Alam. We absolutely love the peace and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. The staff are so welcoming and friendly as well! All the rooms have sea view and the upper floor rooms have a nice brick ceiling, although the ventilation/water systems can get a bit noisy especially in the evenings. The reef is wonderful and once the wind calmed down a bit, we were able to see some amazing creatures, turtles, moray eel, lionfish and the famous dugong! I love the fact that there is no loud music and other actitivities, many elderly guests which was perfect for us. My suggestion to the hotel is to have some more variety in terms of vegetarian dishes, especially salads and warm dishes could use some source of protein eg. chickpeas or lentils, I am sure there are many great recipes with these in Egyptian cuisine! Really the food is the only thing that I would improve, because it got boring for us quite quickly as we do not eat meat or fish. Big cheers to the hotel staff, you are doing a great job, please keep it up and we will be back :) …
I have spend here vacation with family. Hotel have just opened after covid break. I was amazing time. Wonderful raffs along many kilometers of beach. Shams alam village has a several nice, a little old but clean bungalows with a view of the red sea. To explore the desert surrounding the hotel with wild camels you can use quads. Services M.O Safari Quads available in hotel met my all expectation. Thanks Usama & Zizu for an unforgettable quad trip :)
My family and I spent ten wonderful days at Shams Alam Resort. As a whole, the resort is very cheerful with beautiful landscape and architecture that is homogeneous with the surrounding environment. The hotel staff members are very pleasant, and are always ready to help in every possible way. The rooms are spacious, clean. The food is very good regarding variety, taste, and presentation. The beach is very clean with comfortable shades. Snorkeling, SCUBA diving, wind surfing are available through professional personnel. The inhouse reef is quite sufficient with beautiful underwater scenery. The resort's entrance/reception has a very impressive architecture, with the large brick domes that are a signature of the local enironment. I would highly recommend. The fascinating was Safari Trip with M.o Safary to Wady El Gemal.…
This was my second visit which was even better than my first! Staff are extremely friendly, fantastic sandy beach with great in-house coral reefs one of the best in Marsa Alam. If you are into diving and snorkeling then this is the place for you.
I have been here for the second time and will continue to come back. Wonderful sea, corals right by the beach. As a bonus turtles. Perfect staff. Rooms are cleaned daily. Tasty food. Diving center at the hotel. The only complaint is the absence of wifi connection. Holiday suitable for lovers of snorkeling and diving.
My family and I spent four wonderful days at Shams Alam Resort. As a whole, the resort is very cheerful with beautiful landscape and architecture that is homogeneous with the surrounding environment. The hotel staff members are very pleasant, and are always ready to help in every possible way. The rooms are spacious, clean, and have been nicely renovated with modern furniture and bathroom accessories. The food is very good regarding variety, taste, and presentation. The beach is very clean with comfortable shades. Snorkeling, SCUBA diving, wind surfing are available through professional personnel. Daily boat trips to nearby islands are available; however the inhouse reef is quite sufficient with beautiful underwater scenery for those who prefer to skip boat trips. The resort's entrance/reception has a very impressive architecture, with the large brick domes that are a signature of the local enironment. However, neither the furniture style nor upholstry are up to the beauty of the architecture. I would highly recommend that the management considers changing it to a style that compliments the architecture.…
Visited in 2016 - ideal place for those seeking tranquility and a beautiful sea, I obtained the SUB patent here and can only say spectacular. Don't expect nightclubs or lively entertainment. Hotel has suffered for the lack of tourists in recent years but as far as I'm concerned the very kind and helpful staff make up for it
-Structure: first impression of the resort is good since the main areas are well kept but it is not the same with the less crowded areas, such as the gym and the game room. Starting from the gym, the few machines that they have are almost all not working and rusty, it would be better to close it instead of keeping a gym that you can’t basically use. The game room is well furnished with 3 pool tables and one ping pong, but there is a lack of hygiene since the floor is very dusty. -Beach: the beach is for sure the best part of the resort, you can find a diving center and a windsurf school -Food: food is nice considering the Egyptian’s economic crisis and the related difficulty to import. Dishes are natural, simple and good, especially the cakes. Moreover the afternoon snack break at the beach bar is poor since they only make pizza with no avaibility of fruit and other different kinds of food. I want to underline the “difficulty” to get a bottle of water, since you can get it only at the restaurant that is not opened all day long. -Pool: the pool is small but you don’t need a bigger one when you have that Sea -Room: there are some pros and cons about the rooms. Pros are that they are quite spacious with a nice patio/balcony. Cons are that the door is quite difficult to open, there’s not a coffe set on the desk, the AC makes a lot of noise where it’s on and matterasses and pillows are a little uncomfortable. In conclusion I would give this resort a 3.7 score that is mainly thanks to its beautiful beach and soureoundings, but I can’t give a 4 as there are things that would really need to be improved.…
