We happened across this wonderful pub/restaurant after walking our two dogs on the nearby beach. Warm welcome for us and our dogs, one of which is a lively Labrador puppy. Fresh water and treats were immediately brought to the dogs without asking. That is worth a lot to us. It's the difference between 'dogs allowed' and 'dogs welcomed'. This is...

It was my first time eating here but well recommended by my grownup children. We booked in as a family group and received a warm welcome. The waitresses were brilliant especially the young lady with the long black hair who provided exceptional service. We could see every table was booked and the place was very busy however the food arrived...

What a ray of sunshine the Golden Lion is. Not only a buzzing pub (on a Monday night?) with a lively feel & seriously fantastic food (smoked sprats on specials-unreal), our room was glorious-well appointed, warm & comfortable (stunning handmade furniture) & to top it all off-a breakfast to die for. We will be back.

Stayed one night and found the room to be large, well equipped and clean. Some noise from the kitchen extractors but not bad. 3 grumbles, the matress and pillows were very firm which gave me a stiff neck in the morning, the shower had 3 identical controls with no marks or clues to which did what. An uncomfortable start to...

I went there for dinner last night, the food was delicious and the service was very nice. I live in the area so I did not stay in the inn, therefore cannot comment on it. The dining room is lovely. The only thing I did not like was the music.

A really lovely place to stay. Excellent rooms, obliging staff, lovely atmosphere and superb food. I would advise booking direct with The Golden Lion as this is how to get the best deal. They often do 3 for 2 or include a discount off dinner. My advice.. check before you book.

We stay in Pembrokeshire twice a year and most days combine a dog walk on Newport's amazing beach with lunch at the Golden Lion. Always friend, professional service, great atmosphere and tasty food. Recent Sunday lunch was one of the best we had ever had!

We had a great overnight stay here, and found the staff friendly and helpful. We had spent the whole day driving from St. David's, heading out to the coast many times on tiny little roads, walking parts of the Pembrokeshire coast path. The meals were fabulous right there in the Golden Lion.

Had a great meal in a charming Gastro pub nestled in amongst the hills and cliffs. Newport is a charming village near beautiful beaches and coastal walks. There is easy access and even though it was busy we had very friendly and quick service, lovely setting and ambience. The menu was full of delicious choices and I Recommend the Golden...
