We stayed for one night to visit family. I chose The Castle as it was one of the few places in the area which was offering a one night stay, and the price was reasonable. It was a good choice! The room was excellent - newly renovated, still with ‘new carpet’ smell. Good

Stayed here for 2 nights while in the area for a wedding. The room was very clean and cosy. Surprisingly quiet being right by main road. We went down to dinner which was very tasty. Steak was cooked perfect and my wife, who ordered dessert, loved the Crumble. The staff were all

Stayed here with 2 small children on the way back to the ferry in Fishguard. Room was nice and spacious an clean. Nice base for touring Welsh coast also. Only let down was the pub downstairs which didn't look too inviting but breakfast was great and staff were very friendly.

Hello Julie, We are a little disappointed by your comments regarding the 'pub downstairs' as, due to your overnight stay and early departure, you didn't visit the bar during opening hours. You only saw the pub/bar when closed early in the morning. Come and see us when we are open, the open fire is burning, the band is playing (Friday night depending on time of year) and the beer is flowing. I can assure you that you will have a different opinion. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the room and our staff. We look forward to seeing you at the Castle Inn again soon, Glyn, Alison, Thomas, Charlotte

...the rest of it was rather chaotic. Our group was 3 adults and two little ones and when the kids' meals (2 sausages, chips & beans) come in at £7 each you know it's gold card time. Our food order was duly placed, including a couple of open sandwiches, but the first change

Hello MancJester, Thanks for your review. We are surprised that you think £7 is expensive for our Childrens meals. We try to deliver the best ingredients we can throughout our menu and this includes Childs meals. For example the sausages are supplied fresh by a local butcher and our Mini cod and chips is a smaller version of our very popular adults meal, not 'fish fingers'. If you want to pay a little bit more you will get quality ingredients but that's up to you. £7 is also not expensive compared to alternative pubs and restaurants in the area. Sometimes we have a bit of a run on certain dishes from the menu. Someone can see a great looking sandwich go to a table and this can influence their food choice. On the day you were here we had many orders for crab sandwiches. It does not happen very often but we did run out of crab and white bread. I do apologise that the message from the kitchen did not get the bar sooner enough before you ordered. Although we do use biodegradable straws we are considering removing them from the bar all together. It was a simple oversight, we did have straws so I am sure your children were happy about that. 'Child Size' - Generally Children from 3-13 will order Childrens meals and drinks. I am sure there will be some children that would need smaller or larger sized plates and glasses. We do serve Children meals on a smaller plate (they were not adult plates) and if you needed something smaller you only had to ask. Our drinks are served in specific measures and again if you wanted to split your drinks down then you only had to ask. Thanks for your comments, Glyn Richards
