This was our 2nd trip to Bora Bora, as well as our 2nd stay with Le Moana Resort. We stayed 12 days this time, and enjoyed every single minute, and the Le Moana, once again, was fabulous! Being attached to the Island, there are more opportunities for exploring on your own. Stores, restaurants are all in walking distance, without the dependence on boats to get to the mainland. The concierge service was wonderful; Myana and Moeana helped us with anything we needed, and reservations at restaurants, with free transportation, was arranged or an excursion booked. The overwater bungalows are amazing, the peace and quiet is wonderful. The housekeeping services were outstanding. The Vini Vini restaurant, as well as the Noa Noa restaurant offered amazing cuisine and outstanding service. What really sets the Le Moana apart is their staff, and they truly go out of their way to make sure your every need is met. Victor, Vahine, Stephanie, "J.B.", Joseph were among the many that made sure our visit was perfect. The manager, Laurence Levy, greeted us by name every day, checking with us to insure all was wonderful. The location of the Le Moana on the "mainland" really lets you explore the Island, and the beautiful people. We will return, sooner than later. We highly recommend the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort.

This place is laughably dated. My parents would probably love this place, it’s got all the luxuries of a resort in 1987. When we arrived we were given a GROUP tour with all the other arrivals, it felt like I was doing an orientation day at summer camp. As we walked through the grounds everything was very blah. The color schemes were out of fashion and they were super into the cheap tiki look that was all the rave back in the day. We stayed in an over the water bungalow with a horizon view and the view was indeed magnificent. However, it turns out that this resorts location is prone to heavy winds; several locals confirmed the latter. Did I mention the constant draft in the room? The room had two phones, both had cords. I have not seen a phone cord in a resort since I was a kid. What made us most upset was that coffee is NOT included. We had to buy overpriced nespresso pods from the reception!!! Unbelievable!!! Only one small bottle of water is included in your room per day and when we asked about more water the lady told us to drink the tap water, hahaha. The more I write the more I feel like I am writing about a motel 6. On a positive note, the staff are accommodating and very friendly. They do what they can with what they are working with, sadly. Also, the Le Moana is near a lot of the best restaurants, so we got to eat really incredible food that was just a stones throw away. I do not understand who is giving this place great reviews, perhaps the untraveled or maybe baby boomers, but this place sucks. We ended up cutting our stay in half and moved over to their sister resort Thallaso and it is so much better. The Thallaso is worth every penny more, in fact I would be willing to pay more than they are charging me, if it meant I could of avoided the Le Moana.

Dear Amirk558, Ia Orana from the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort! I read carefully your review and I sincerely apologise that, in your experience, we have fallen short your expectations. The InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort is a 4 star hotel renowned for its friendly atmosphere. Our customers choose it for its traditional and authentic feeling and are especially appreciating its human scale. Often described as a "family" atmosphere, we owe the honour of receiving a regular returning clientele each year. My team and myself always consider with much respect and attention all of our guests comments and we do admit errors or imperfections when it happen. Yes this hotel is dated it it true. Some matters can be improved others are out of our hands but we’ll seriously consider your comments for improvement of our services. Any point of view remain very personal I just would like to underline one observation: among all the feedbacks we received their satisfaction and thankfulness is really not representative of your description. I take this opportunity to thank all of our guests for their kind mentions and their helpful suggestions that help us improving our quality of service. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused Yours sincerely, Laurence Lévy General Manager

When we deplaned and walked through the airport, we were greeted by a hotel representative who advised the process for getting our bags & boarding the water shuttle. Upon arrival at the hotel, all of those on the water shuttle were taken to the bar area and given a welcome drink as we waited to check in. The clerk checked us in as a group and then gave the group a tour (in several languages) of the main common areas of the hotel. He then split the group between those who had overwater bungalows and those who had garden ones. He took our group to the pier and dropped each couple off at their bungalow while the others waited. Overall the whole process took about 45 minutes or so. We’re not sure if this process was due to COVID but we would have been ok just doing a normal check in. The overwater bungalows are really nice and very convenient for snorkeling and relaxing. We found it odd that there is a very large desk in the room and two corded telephones. The WIFI in our bungalow didn’t work the entire time we were there. The staff was reluctant to take action to resolve the issue when we reported it & said it was due to “interference from the island”. We used the airport transfer on the return which seemed very efficient until the hotel staff was loading guests onto the water shuttle and we didn’t see our bags. We asked where they were & we could tell they’d forgotten them. We understand that mistakes happen but we were surprised that there were no checks in place to ensure guests and luggage were all accounted for prior to departure. Had we not specifically asked, we would have had to return to get our bags and missed our flight. The hotel itself is very convenient if you do not have a car. We walked to several restaurants for meals off of the resort but stayed on site for breakfast because we’d received a half price offer as an IGH rewards member. The breakfast buffet costs 10,959 CFP for two people without the discount. We had lunch at the resort once at it was 7,000 CFP

We stayed at Le Moana in an overwater bungalow for 8 days in Sept/Oct 2020 and it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment we got off the ferry to the time we left the hospitality of the staff was second to none. I've truly never stayed a hotel with a better staff. You can clearly tell there is a culture of hospitality that is palpable among everyone at the resort. Every single person we walked by or approached would always ask "what can we do to make your stay better". It was a stark contrast to the Hilton in Moorea (where simply being there seemed like an inconvenience to the staff). The Le Moana was ideally located on the main island which allows easy access to the local amenities. We would walk out the hotel and there we several good restaurants and grocery markets within walking distance. A few key things to consider and tips from our experience: - The overwater bungalow was worth the expense. They are situated much better than some other resorts where privacy is designed into the layout relative to the next units over. I do think the beach bungalows look really nice and private as well and we would consider that option next time. - The snorkeling is amazing right under your bungalow. We brought our own snorkel gear since we didn't want to share germs with the used equipment. - The white sand beach right at the resort is also incredible. They comb it every morning and it's absolutely pristine. There are plenty of chairs, hammocks, and loungers so you don't have to fight for them like some other resorts. - We felt like this resort was the best value in Bora Bora. The price was still expensive (of course), but seemed like a much better value than being on Motu. It was particularly convenient to be on the main island. We talked to others on the motu who found it very cumbersome to ferry back and forth when they wanted to get some local culture or restaurant experiences. - Get a scooter and drive around the island one day. We liked to go the local grocery stores and get lunch snacks, beer, water, etc. The hotel has a mini fridge so you can keep things cold for the trip. - The hotel has a nice turn-down service in the evenings where the leave a small treat, empty the garbage, restock your towels, etc. It's amazing service! - The buffet breakfast was quite good. We booked a rate that included breakfast which I would highly recommend. Without doing that, it was $50/pp for breakfast, which is a little crazy! One minor complaint about the buffet breakfast is that there was no variety day after day. There is a big selection of hot/cold items, but they could stand to mix it up slightly every couple days. - Matira beach, one of the most beautiful public beaches in the world is across the street from Le Moana. Since this hotel is on the tip of the island, Matira beach faces west so you can walk across the street at watch the sunset on this incredible beach. We got cocktails every night and would walk across to that beach to watch the sunset - amazing! - On Tuesday and Saturday nights they have a local cultural dance show during dinner. It's a free show and they situate the dinner tables around the show area. It was very authentic and an awesome experience. Highly recommend! All in all, this was a great property. I did a TON of research ahead of time and debated this vs. a property on the motu. After leaving, we agreed that we made the right choice and would come back to Le Moana again. Thanks to the amazing staff for such incredible hospitality - it truly made the whole trip!
