My boyfriend and I visited the Conrad in September, 2023, and it was exceptional. I should make the disclaimer that I am super easy going when it comes to resorts and could have fun in a paper box. With that said, I have been all over when it comes to beach destinations in the Caribbean, south America and areas in the pacific. As an initial matter, the grounds are flawless. We were kind of hesitant to stay here over the Four Seasons because of the view, but we were lucky enough to be put in the 100s wing which allowed us to see the Mountain on our way to/from the Lagoon View room with plunge pool. It was breathtaking. The rooms are pretty amazing and each have hammocks that allow you to see the fish and sharks and rays that swim around the bungalows (especially at night with the lagoon lights). The rooms have bluetooth speakers built into them and there is not one detail that was left out. They even have universal adapters so you do not need to worry about bringing european adapters to plug your items in. First, the Housekeeping must be discused. I have heard that the housekeeping here has won awards and now I see why. They pay so much attention to detail, and come twice a day. They know when you leave so that even if you are gone for 45 mintues, you will come back to a made up room. I am pretty confident there are several housekeepers for each wing in order to achieve this level of service. The housekeeper Betsy, even arranged my makeup for me and left me the niceset little note. Next, the General Manager, Fabien Gabriel, must be discussed. This man pays so much attention to detail and interacts with the guests as much as he possibly can. He is constantly talking to the guests or chatting with the staff about the property. We are 36 and 38 and he took the time to speak with us about what he thought people in our age group might like to do in the evenings other than dinner. We suggested that they implement some sort of evening music at the main restaurant/lounge. The bar manager was also amazing. I cannot remember her name at this exact moment but you will know her when you get there. All you have to do is tell her a few adjectives such as "not sweet" or "refreshing" and she mixes up the perfect cocktail. On the evening that she was not there, the staff called her (we did not ask for this) to confirm that they were doing the right cocktail for which I had grown accustomed. Let's talk about the food. The breakfast buffet is 5 stars all around. Make sure that your room itype includes the a la carte breakfast as ordering the omlets or crepes or benedit is the perfect supplement to the amazing options that they have on the buffet. The pastries are changed daily and will shock you with their presentation and tase. For lunch, the food is great - but if you fill up on breakfast you probably will not be eating until dinner. The dinner restaurants are really good, but will not blow your mind which is to be expected on a remote island such as Tahiti. However, we are from New Orleans so the food scores are much higher here. We really liked the Chinese restaurant, but I would recommend that you make a reservation in advance of your stay. Otherwise your options and times will be subject to availability. As for the activities, the shark and ray snorkel is an absolute must. We also liked the "Vitamin Sea" catamaran. If I could tell you all anything, it would be to consider bringing a wetsuit. The water is cold if the weather is not sunny and the wetsuit makes it much more enjoyable to stay in the water for hours at a time. We bought one in the island of Moorea before coming over. Unfortunately, the pool in our villa was too cold to use due to the weather not being great, but it was really lovely to have and see. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about this place is that none of the pools are heated and there is not a hot tub. That is literally it and this is coming from someone who is used to very warm water, so maybe I am being a baby about this. I would also suggest that you bring some rope so you can tie floats to your bungalow, etc. The wind can pick up at times so those chair clips are helpful too. No need to bring any sort of shampoo or conditioner as the products used by the hotel are A+. I have not been that happy with the products literally ever! There is a Happy Hour from 3-4 pm that is at the pool bar that is totally worth it. The drinks are delicious and the bar service is fantastic. If you are looking to save a little, bring some wine and beer and liquor for your room, as the drinks are not cheap. With that said, they really are no more offensive than your standard LA or NYC prices at around $18-28.00 for a cocktail. We were able to secure some wine and beer in Tahiti (get it at customs) before flying over and that was a stellar move on our end. I really cannot recommend the Conrad enough. We reallly struggled at choosing the right resort in Bora Bora and ultimately went with the Conrad due to the vibe and variety of restaurants. We made the right choice. We made several friends from age 30-60, some of which that will remain friends for a lifetime. The only thing I would suggest is that they come up with some sort of evening activity around 5-7 pm before dinner for people to participate in. Once dinner is complete, you are pretty tired and ready for bed, or to hang out on your hammock and ready to see the fish/sharks/rays swim through the water underneath your hammock. You must bring the couch pillows and a blanket out to the hammocks and lay out there at night. We honestly thought this was a once in a lifetime type of trip, but I can say with all certainly that due to the hospitality of the Conrad, we will be back. This is a place that can easily become a destination that you and your significant other or family travel to once every 5-10 years. Finally, getting there from the South was just not that bad. It was a 4 hour flight from NOLA to LA, then a layover, and 8 hours to Tahiti. Do NOT waste your time with a night in Tahiti. I would suggest just hopping on the ferry and checking out Moorea for 2-3 nights before flying to Bora Bora, or just going straight to Bora Bora from the Tahiti layover. Best of luck, and we cannot wait to return!…
