The cabin was cute, clean, and comfy. Jane picked us up at the depot and gave us a tour of town - we really appreciated her hospitality. Chinook Winds is in a great location - just on the outskirts of town, easy walking to anywhere in Talkeetna.
Due to pretty dire personal circumstances, I had to cancel just inside their cancellation policy window. The owner was extremely understanding and gave me a full refund. Quality, local service, with a large dose of kindness. My family and I will definitely be staying here next time we’re in Talkeetna. Thanks again, Chinook Winds!
Unfortunately, we only had one night in Talkeetna. Jane picked us up from the train station and was just gorgeous. She did a quick drive around town to show us the sights and then checked us in to our cabin. The room was spotless and had a small kitchenette which was suitable for two people. Janes husband can be seen as stand offish, but everything else makes up for that. She happily dropped us back at the train station the next day. Very happy with what we got :)
We traveled Alaska for 38 days by planes, trains, automobiles and ferries. We arrived in Talkeetna by train for a one night stay. Jane picked us up at the train station and took us on a tour before showing us to our cabin. She pointed out highlights in town, including the building which housed the fictional radio station in the TV show Northern Exposure. Our cabin was huge, clean, comfortable and in a great location. No car is necessary in Talkeetna. We were able to walk to everything. The following morning Jane drove us back to the train station so we could continue our journey north to Denali. The picture I posted on Facebook of our room got many more reactions than any other room we stayed in during our 5 1/2 week trip. Comments like “cute”, “cozy”, “adorable”, “I’d stay there the whole time!” were common. We’d definitely stay here again, as apparently would most of our friends....;-).…
Cabins OK. Across the street from train tracks. Two very loud trains during the night (ala My Cousin Vinny). Regretted not returning to the Meandering Moose further away from town. I preferred their friendlier owners.
