What to say besides "great experience". From the landing to the lodge and warm welcome by Zac & Alyssa, Joe and Bonnie we felt being in a special place. Our kids loved it and the opportunity to experience true Alaska was very memorable to our family. We feel fortunate that we had the opportunity to stay at such a unique place. Thanks and I would recommend anyone who wishes to experience Alaska away from the crowds.

We're glad you all made the trip. Your boys were respectful of the cabin and didn't wreck anything, we truly appreciate that. They were great. They were good hikers (well most of them) and we are just glad you had a special time in the Alaska wilderness and got to see your kids enjoy outdoor activities. Getting kids to Alaska is always a good idea. We wish your family all the best.

You are very welcome! We are glad you visited us this past summer, and thank you for recommending our lodge. We agree and feel that If someone wants to enjoy the REAL Alaska, and the nature of the Denali region it's hard to beat our private cabins on the lake with all-inclusive accommodations.

We spent 4 nights here and Caribou was the highlight of our Alaska trip. We felt so at home in our little cabin, and amongst Joe, Bonnie, Zac, Alyssa, and the other guests. We felt like we were visiting old friends instead of strangers. A couple got engaged during our stay, and another couple shared their bottles of wine with all of us at dinner. The camaraderie was truly touching, a reminder of how beautiful humans can be! Facility-wise: I’ve never been in a cleaner outhouse — no joke, not ever. We also packed shower shoes just in case for the shower house — those stayed packed up given how clean everything was. Plenty of hot water, and there is shampoo, conditioner, shower gel in the shower. Cabins are electricity-free, so we brought a power bank to charge our phones (you could charge anything in the lodge as well at some point during the day, but we felt like the power bank was über convenient). We brought headlamps and we used the lodge-provided lantern as well. There are a few pups on property, which initially was a big concern for us since my husband is 10/10 allergic to just about everything. But the little Yorkies didn’t bother him and the lovable outdoor dog Howie also wasn’t a problem. The food was hands-down epically delicious (our favorites included pancakes with homemade blueberry syrup, meatballs, a little lemon blueberry cake, watermelon salad... who are we kidding, everything was a favorite!). Fresh berries everywhere we looked outside were a perfect treat on top of the meals that were cooked for us. We were hopped up on coffee given it was available, piping hot, all day. That + scones... pretty sure we had some withdrawal symptoms once we got home! September was great to travel in because of the fall colors and the cool air. We had a bit of rain the last 2-3 days, but our hikes were just as epic and with our rain gear, we were nice and dry! Layers were also important during our hikes since the temperature would fluctuate a lot depending on where the sun was, wind, elevation, etc. The rain did change up some of our transportation plans — we ended up being delayed to get to the lodge by an hour or two and then our flight out from the lodge back to Anchorage was rerouted to Wasilla instead. The Alaska Bush Plane folks were so kind and helpful during the delay on the way to the lodge, and Joe and Bonnie couldn’t have been more gracious with providing us with options so we could get back to Anchorage. The flexibility with our travel schedule was key! We were in awe of the scenery every day, really every moment. Between the beauty all around + how much we learned about the land and animals we saw during our daily guided hikes with Joe, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We live in a pretty quiet neighborhood in Pennsylvania and get out in the woods frequently to camp, but until we stayed at the lodge, I never imagined what complete quiet sounds like, especially at night. No cicadas chirping, nothing. It was the epitome of peace. We truly can’t wait to come back.

To have a mixed group from New York, Australia, and Pennsylvania made up an unlikely bunch of fun loving, friendly people that ended up being the best way we could have imagined ending our season! It was great to meet you two, and thank you for the detailed feedback. Other travelers should thank you for that. We are glad the dogs didn't bother your husbands allergies. They are very low-key and hardly ever seen. Except the fact that everyone here during that time was obsessed with them. They loved the attention. Sorry the weather wasn't great during your visit. It's always smart to invest in quality rain gear before a trip to Alaska. Our rainy season can potentially be anytime between snow storms.

We visited Caribou Lodge in August 2019 as part of a gift to my Dad for his 70th birthday. He loved it, lights up whenever he talks about it, and often mentions how he'd like to go back. I'd like to get back there some day too, all of which is probably the best way I can relate how much we enjoyed our stay. It's a really unique and memorable place at least in my fairly well-traveled experience. The hosts--Zac, Joe, Alyssa, and Bonnie are terrific. They have taken care to make things comfortable for you despite the fact that the lodge is off the grid. My brother who is lactose intolerant really appreciated the care they took in the kitchen to give him dairy free options and we all enjoyed the food. As a long time city dweller, I was just blown away by the quiet. The scenery was special too, but the biggest thing that I noticed was the quiet. We saw moose and plenty of bird life, and it was our understanding that summer 2019 was sort of a down season for wildlife viewing on account the uncharacteristically warm weather. We saw partial views of Denali, but didn't luck out. Wildlife and Denali sightings are outside of human control, but the hosts do a great job with the things they can manage. I already mentioned the cooking; we also appreciated the how well the shower worked (good temperature and water pressure). Even the outhouses were nice, at least for outhouses. We also enjoyed hearing the stories about life at the lodge, the history of the property, and just getting a window into a very different place and way of life--the sort of thing that's often most rewarding about travel.

Thank you so much for the kind review and also for coming! It was great having you. To think we are at the top of someones list as a birthday present is awesome and we are honored. Alyssa and Bonnie take great pride in the meals cooked out here and accommodate allergies many times every year. They say it adds to the challenge in the kitchen as they get to cook something out of the "norm". We're glad he liked the custom meal plan! It's great that you guys had some time to just relax and enjoy nature and the quiet atmosphere. The original quote on the website over 15 years ago was "nature and tranquility are our only neighbors" pretty cheesy but it's still true. It's a far cry from the hustle and bustle of city life, or touristy parts of Alaska for that matter. All our best to you and your family. Cheers!

My 11th and best experience in Alaska! I'm so glad I shared it with my son. The four-day Adventure package w/camping was incredible! The word "hiking" takes on a whole other meaning when traversing the hilly Alpine Tundra with 35 lb back packs. Zac was a great guide - witty and knowledgeable, and throwing out fun facts throughout the trip. We got frightened by the eerie and haunting cry of the Pacific Loon and we heard wolves howl in the distance. Zac's eagle eyes spotted a full set of shedded caribou antlers 1/4 mile away, and we crossed a stream with fresh bear tracks. If you're looking to experience Alaska, this is it! Thank you to the entire Bramante Family for a trip of a lifetime and a memory that will last forever.

"Adventure Is The Cure" could be our motto on the website. It has been said that Alaska is not a vacation, it's an adventure. We know that to be true. It was an absolute blast having you two gentlemen and we hope to see you again one day. We try our best as guides and hosts to show everyone a great time. I can't take credit for the wolves howling, the bear tracks at the creek or the PERFECT weather. We can only get people out into the wilderness and show off Alaska. That's our goal! If we ever make it to Illinois we'll meet up. Just count me out for a Chicago handshake....
