A little slice of Heaven smack dab in the middle of nowhere! It was everything I hoped it was going to be, and then some! Our family of six took over the lodge for two nights and experienced life off the grid. We all unplugged (even our teenage sons!) and went hiking, picked wild blueberries, learned all about what it takes to live so remotely, kayaked and much more. We savored the silence, embraced the beauty and will cherish the memories for a lifetime. Joe, Zach and their entire families (even their kids) were the most gracious hosts. Their kids shared their toys with my kids and played so well with ours. The cabins were simple, clean and comfortable. The meals were delicious and plentiful. Joe even went very far out of his way to help accommodate a travel hiccup we realized after booking. Truly, if you’re looking for this type of experience, look no further! Well done guys, very well done!…
My wife and I spent three amazing nights at Caribou Lodge, Alaska. Zac and Joe arranged a 45 minute flight to and from the lodge from Anchorage, avoiding having to rent a car and and driving to and from Talkeetna. With just three backcountry cabins, you have the lodge all to yourself, and a couple of other adventurous guests. It is tranquil, amazing, wild country, with daily hikes through the tundra lead by Joe or Zac. No roads or crowds anywhere in sight, and we saw a moose in the lake. It is the opposite of Denali National Park's crowds. The meals are fresh, healthy, and gourmet, eaten with the family in the main lodge. The strong, hot showers are welcome, after a long day hiking, and the outdoor bathrooms are spotless and fresh smelling. If you've ever wanted to live with Alaskan pioneers for a couple days, completely off the grid (except my A T& T cell phone worked perfectly), but with all of the amenities you could wish for (including a large, comfortable bed), Caribou Lodge is the perfect, reasonably priced, lodge. Warm welcoming host family, unbelievable clean, delicious food, spectacular mountain-views. You just feel like visiting best friends or family! In almost 3 weeks travelling Alaska, definitivly the best place to stay!
We had a great stay at the Caribou Lodge, from a sunny Camping trip, the amazing Food and Cookies and the welcoming nature of the hosts we loved every thing about it. Definitely the highlight of our Trip to Alaska… The Cabins are small and lovely and the main lodge with the whole family made it a welcoming surrounding to relax and get a digital detox. Our Guide Zac knew everything about the nature around the lodge and showed us increadible landscapes. I would definitely visit the lodge again if I came to Alaska again. P.S Hi Bo 👋🏼
This was by far the best lodge in Alaska, the camping was great, the view was stunning, the food was tasty and the people were so likable. The flight into the lodge is a great highlight. The cabins were very cozy and we had a pleasand stay.
This is a very remote and quiet place. If you love open air and nature this is a great place to be. The views of mount Denali are very impressive, as well as the hikes, which were not to extreme but definitely good hikes.
Caribou Lodge is an awesome place to visit. During our three days stay we enjoyed wonderful hikes in pristine nature with animal sightings, a great night in a tent, amazings hosts and delicious food. We absolutely recommend a stay!
Our group had an INCREDIBLE time exploring the Alaskan tundra at Caribou Lodge! Joe and Zac are so knowledgeable and engaging- they showed our group what living 'off-the-grid' in Alaska REALLY looks like. The tour was very informative, the lunch was great and the hosts- they're the BEST! Cannot recommend strongly enough- thanks Caribou lodge!
We stayed three days. Zac, Alyssa, Bonnie and their families treated us like family. Three wonderful home cooked meals were provided each day. We looked forward to meals every day. The evening meal always offered an enticing dessert. Zac led us on an invigorating hike every day. We had very comfortable beds in the cabin. There was no indoor plumbing to the cabins but the two outhouses were very close to the cabins as well as the shower house and all were immaculate. It was nice to unplug from phones and TV. We were flown in and out by floatplane which was really fun. It was all a great experience. We were lucky to get views of Denali every day.
My wife, daughter, and I stayed two nights in one of the cabins. The family owners were delightful and made our stay all the more memorable. We will truly miss them all. The food prepared by them each day was exemplary. There was no bathroom or electricity in our cabin; however, the cabin was well heated, clean, comfortable and cozy. The landscape and overall setting was sublime. We enjoyed the hiking, wildlife viewing, kayaking and good conversations with new friends. We highly recommend this location and experience!
