Enjoy sweeping views of Mt. McKinley and the Alaska Range from the 20 acre grounds while being only a short drive to Talkeetna's town site for restaurants and activities. This unique mountaintop location provides a vantage point for fabulous photo opportunities, stunning sunsets and winter northern lights viewing.
We stayed in the Denali View Cabin for four nights and we were very happy. The cabin is clean and well appointed with lots of windows and great views! There is a breakfast nook with views of Mounts Denali, Foraker and Hunter that is unforgettable!! Denali is often obscured by clouds so staying here and having easy access to the view was important to us. The wifi worked fine and Whitney checked in by text message frequently to see how we were doing, she stopped by as well but we missed each other. We felt she was attentive and available, we just didn't need anything!! We would stay here again

I made plans spur of the moment to visit Talkeetna and was late in making a reservation at Traleika Mountain Top Cabins, but Whitney was incredibly helpful when I contacted her and went out of her way to accommodate me. I ended up staying one night in the Denali View and then switched over to Birchcrest for the second night. Both cabins were delightful - cozy, well appointed, spotless and, most important, offered amazing (breathtaking!) views of Denali.
I would highly recommend staying here. The cabins are located close enough to town that you can get there in under ten minutes, but it is also nice to relax at the end of a hectic, activity-filled day in a quiet cabin set serenely on a hill with majestic views of the highest mountain in the US.

A real treat in this fantastic cabin, with, when it's visible, awesome Denali range view. Close to town, yet isolated. Two nice bathrooms, kitchen and gas gill.
The view is amazing. We cooked twice and ate on the deck watching the evening change.

We stayed in the Sultana Cottage and were perfectly pleased with it. Spotlessly clean, incredible views, comfy, warm,..perfect! As long as one remembers that it is a cabin on a mountain ridge and not the Ritz you'll love it too. Thank you Whitney!

We stayed for 3 nights in September. 1st there is no doubt this is a fantastic view of Mt. McKinley. But based on the fact that McKinley is visible on 1 out of 3 days normally the quality of the cabin does come into play. We did see McKinley the 1st day and had a great view and sunset. The cabin itself was clean. The linens on the bed and towels were extremely dated and had a distinct odor that was not pleasant at all. The shower is small and drain was very slow not a big deal just an annoyance. The kitchenette had minimal utensils and dishes but left something to be desired. There were 2 TV's neither of which worked. TV is not a big deal but if you are going to advertise TV then they should work. Wifi was fine and worked well. Location if very quiet and we had no trouble locating the cabin.
Compared to the other 2 cabins we stayed at on this trip this one would come in 3rd.

Alaska's cabins come in all colors. You have your right by the road side cabins with no shades in the land of the midnight sun to your custom built palaces. The Traleika cabins are the custom-built, functional variety. They're fancy enough to make you comfortable and rustic enough to make you feel like you're in the "real Alaska" even though there's a paved road a half mile away. Whitney is very friendly and that's not easy when tourists roll in and out all the time and each one expects a special experience. We'd definitely return to the Birchcrest cabin or any of the other offerings. If the sky is clear all of them offer million dollar views of Denali. My only concern with the location is that with 3 cabins tightly packed your quiet night away might not be so quiet if your neighbors aren't similiarly minded.

We stayed there 2 nights with friends. My husband and I have stayed there before . Both times we enjoyed our stay. It is a steep drive up a gravel driveway but well worth it. Our last day Mt. McKinley came out from the clouds-absolutely spectacular! Highly recommend!

We stayed for 1 night in the Birchcrest Cabin. The booking process was easy and Whitney responded quickly to my emails. We had no problem finding the cabin with the directions that were provided to us. The road wasn't as bad as previous reviewers stated. A small car can make it there without a problem. We arrived late after the check-in time of 4 pm. We forgot to call stating that we would be late. However, the cabin door was unlocked, a note welcoming us was on the door, and keys on the table.
The cabin is beautiful and we absolutely loved it. It was very clean. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with 2 single beds. There is also a futon that pulls out that can sleep 2. The bathroom was quite small and only had a shower. A kitchen consists of a sink, microwave, and small fridge. There is a large deck attached to the cabin. If the mosquitoes aren't bad, then this would be a nice relaxing place to sit. There are board games and movies in the cabin. We played a game of scrabble in the evening.
The only complaint that we have is the mattress on the queen size bed is extremely squeaky. It was difficult to sleep soundly when every small movement results in a loud squeak. My mom slept in the twin size bed and had no issues with a squeaky bed.
Overall, we loved the cabin and wanted to stay longer. We'll be back the next time we visit Talkeetna.

We stayed in the Birchcrest cabins and really loved it - two nice bed rooms and a comfortable living room and kitchen - overall a very nice cabin with everything comfort you need - and the really best thing is the beautiful view ! Very peaceful a very short drive out of Talkeetna.

My husband and I slept downstairs on the futon that doubles as the living room couch, and the two other couples slept upstairs. While we had a great time there, I should caution that people who stay at the cabin should know each other well and be comfortable with one another, as sound travels easily throughout the cabin and everyone shares one bathroom. This was not an issue for us, but it is worth noting.
The cabin was a superb value for 6 of us. Each couple only paid $87.50 for the night including taxes. Whitney, the owner, thought of many details to make her guests more comfortable. For example, there was a binder with local dinner menus and flashlights in wall outlets. There were very adequate breakfast fixings; we just had to pick up a few items in town so that we could make breakfast in the well-equipped kitchenette. She even left us a wonderful homemade sourdough blueberry bread in the fridge!
Our only real complaints were that there were a number of mosquitoes in the cabin when we arrived, but we took care of them fairly quickly and given that Alaska has some 50 kinds of mosquitoes, I suppose that is to be expected. Additionally, the owners should consider heavier curtains for the downstairs living/bed room, as with the long summer days, the light still came through late at night. Until then, a face mask should do any guest who is really bothered by this. I would not let these minor concerns deter anyone from staying here. Overall, the cabin certainly exceeded our expectations and is a great value.

"The Birchcrest is tucked behind another cabin, so the view isn't directly outward, but there are enough windows in the cabin that you can take advantage of the views without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes! We enjoyed the raspberries growing in front of the cabin!!"
