Oceania Hotel is the only hotel in Yap to offer lodging in traditionally inspired and crafted individual huts. Located on a tropical hillside overlooking beautiful Chamorro Bay, our rooms offer convenience to diving, fishing, and restaurants but feel very private. Each room is appointed with organic cotton bedding, ceiling fans, air conditioning, mini fridges, and private outdoor decks to ensure a comfortable stay.

The Oceania was great all around, from the rooms to the food to the service and to its central location on the island. It is a great place to get away from everything and just relax. No TV in the room lets you disconnect from the world, even if for a while. The owners are amazing and ensured my stay was comfortable. The kitchen has some amazing delicious plates and their menu changes so always something new to try.

This is such a lovely, special, gem of a place. Definitely stay here if you visit Yap, and definitely make a point of visiting Yap if you like the pacific islands— we do not dive and hardly even really snorkel, and our four day stay was full of fascinating and exciting cultural excursions and wild beaches with no one else around. These are traditional Yapese raised houses set amidst lush jungle flowers and vegetation. They’re very secluded and can’t really be seen from the road. Beds are comfortable, the little deck with the hammock is lovely and relaxing. The restaurant here is SERIOUSLY GOOD. It is not just good for Yap, it is good for anywhere in the world. The chef here is extremely talented. Best things we had: tuna sashimi, poké, fish kinilaw, all the local fish entrees, the honey garlic chili fried chicken (omg). Everything is excellent. We didn’t even consider going anywhere else. Would rather eat here than just about anywhere in New York to be totally honest. Wish it was on my block. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and kind. Jen is so lovely. Cecilia was really sweet and had lots of great anecdotes about the island. The very nice young server took it upon himself to make us new flower leis when he noticed ours were getting wilted. This hotel is special. I can’t recommend it enough.

Congenial Jennifer and Mark run a small hotel with unique character. The individual structures have a large bedroom, bathroom with shower, closet, storage area, mini fridge. The private balconies have two chairs, a small table and hammock, all overlooking Chamorro Bay. lots of steps on the hillside decking to the rooms, consider that if you have mobility issues. They offer complimentary airport pick up and drop off. They are close to all the dive operators ($1 taxi ride any where in tiny Colonia). You will not find a better restaurant on Yap, the selection, quality and portions are amazing. Happy hour 4-6 daily except Monday when the restaurant is closed. They provide excellent advice on visiting Yap and will set you up with a taxi driver that can show you a great land tour. You will enjoy your stay at the Oceania Hotel.

Oceania hotel is one of my favorite places in the world! I lived in Yap for 2.5 years and Oceania Hotel was the place that I stayed when I first arrived. The rooms are charming and relaxing. The beds are some of the most comfortable on the island and the hammock on the deck is a great place to catch the sunset. Whenever I had guests visit the island, I recommended that they stay at Oceania. Jennifer and Mark are fantastic hosts. They genuinely care about making their guests feel comfortable and welcome. My best nights on Yap were spent sitting at the bar or at karaoke or a live band night. The liquor selection can’t be beat and the atmosphere is by far the most fun that I’ve experienced in Micronesia. The restaurant at Oceania is not only the best on Island- but one of the best I have ever been to in the world. Any of the fish dishes are of course superb but the classics (spaghetti and meatballs or pulled pork sandwiches) are also a win. The staff always has a kind word and eating there is always a treat. If you make it all of the way to Yap, don’t miss out on this excellent restaurant and hotel!

Oceania Hotel was a highlight of my daughter and my trip to Yap recently. Owners Jen and Mark are excellent hosts. They have created a quiet yet interesting atmosphere- between the gourmet breakfasts and dinners, lively nighttime bar scene, gorgeous chamorro bay views from outdoor porch, air conditioned local style rooms, comfortable beds, friendly dogs, a very efficient staff- you are made to feel welcome yet your privacy is also respected. Need snorkel masks- they lend your their own for the week; towels for the beach- ditto. This is one of the most underrated islands to visit and the Oceania as a base to explore is tops. Hope to return there someday!

My wife and I liked everything about the Oceania Hotel. The bungalows were built to simulate a traditional Yap home. They are made of wood and woven bamboo with a peaked thatched roof and are surrounded by lush jungle vegetation. Inside each bungalow was working air-conditioning, comfortable beds, and hot water showers. There is no television or WiFi in the units but that helped to make it a more authentic Micronesian experience. You can get decent WiFi in the restaurant and lobby area. Their restaurant is the best on the island. People from other hotels often came to the Oceania for dinner. They have an excellent chef from the Philippines. We ate all our breakfasts and dinners in the hotel restaurant and enjoyed them all. The owners, Jennifer and Mark are very helpful. Jennifer gave us a lot of good advice about what to do in Yap. We observed that she spent a lot of time talking to all of her guests. They offer airport pickups and drop offs despite the fact the all flights to and from Yap occur at the most inconvenient times, about 2 o’clock in the morning. I think it would be a mistake to stay at any other hotel in Yap. On another note, I strongly recommend planning your trip to Yap for the first week in March. That is when they celebrate Yap Day. Yap is the most traditional island in Micronesia and Yap Day is great way to observe their traditional dress, dances, and other customs.

I had the pleasure of staying at Oceania several times during my two year stint in Yap. Mark and Jen are the most kind, hospitable hosts! The cottages are cozy and air conditioned, each adorned with a private balcony! I have very fond memories of drinking my morning coffee while overlooking the bay. The food is second to none, and the menu changes daily depending on that day's catch! Each staff member is superbly helpful, and they're all great conversationalists. Can't recommend Oceania enough- thanks for creating a safe haven for myself and the other volunteers! We love you, Mark and Jen!

I'll start by saying that I could not think of any shortcoming in this hotel. It starts with Jennifer who owns the place, very responsive by email and extremely helpful to comply with any of my requests. The rooms are great combination between most authentic and high class resort. Each room is designed as a real hut in the wood, with privet balcony and hammock. There is aircon, ceiling fan and landed fan, fridge, hot water and free wifi. I highly recommend anyone who come to Yap to book only this place. No regrets!!!

We were very happy to stay here for 6 days. The cottages are beautiful with AC and fridge, good roomservice, all you Van ask for. Nice balkony with a hammock. There is a street in Front of the property, but what you see is palmtrees. No cars at night, only noise from wind in the palmtrees. And it‘s true: the food is outstanding. For divers: it‘s a 8 min walk to Manty Ray Bay Resort and Yap Divers

I have just spent 3 days at Oceania and can highly recommend the experience. The rooms are peaceful, comfortable and interesting. They are of unique design and I really enjoyed the secluded vibes. The food was spectacular. Everything I tried was delicious. The bar is well stocked and a great place a spend some time gently socializing with whoever's around. Overall the best thing about my experience at Oceania was the genuine hospitality of everyone I met there. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating in a relaxed way. Thanks Mark. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here and i will certainly be do so again. Highly recommended
