The room is nice and tidy, bathroom was clean with eco-friendly amenities. We stayed overnight when we visited our friends in Ohakune. It was freezing in summer so we turned the heater on which was pretty noisy although we didn't need to use for long. Wifi only works around the reception area. Although the bed was soft for us, it... Thanks for your review. Yes some devices (not all) have trouble connecting so we are giving up on our current wifi system and will be investing in a new one which should be installed over the next month or so. More

Great stay, nice hosts were caring and knowledgeable. Beautiful site right by the river with walking trail. The rooms were very clean and were self-contained, everything was there, nice beds and pillows, extra blankets and pillows, appliances and utensils, all top notch. My daughter and I stayed for two nights to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, which they organized transport... More

Thanks very much for taking the time to do a " recommendation" review for us . Glad you enjoyed the Tongariro Crossing, it's always interesting to notice how much happier people sound if they are here to experience this beautiful place by doing the mountain walks, river trips or biking. More

Room had top views of the mountain; an easy pleasant stay. Room kitted out to cook yourself, so take advantage of that. Really enjoyed the walks around the town and up the mountain. Worth a visit in the summer.

Yes summers are really taking off here in spite of the limited funds available for promoting this area. Canoe and jet boat trips (to The Bridge to Nowhere) on the Whanganui River (45 mins away) have gone crazy this year, the Tongariro Crossing already was crazy anyway, and the quieter walks up Mt Ruapehu and mountain biking are building steadily.... Stayed for 2 nights to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. On arrival we were supplied with fresh milk for tea and given an excellent map of the area, the lady took time to show us where we could eat and walk. The room itself was spotless with a fully equipped kitchen area and a bathroom with a wonderful spa bath,... More

Me and my brother stayed on this lovely little motel for a night on our road trip after doing the tongariro crossing. It has plenty of space and in great condition. Bed was really comfy and the owners were very helpful, especially in weather reports for the alpine crossing. A spa is available along with a dry room and well... More

We are very grateful for this review, particularly the comment on the comfortable bed ( in spite of your bad back). This bed happens to be the very same one which was slammed as "terrible" last week. As that gentleman said," Go figure", indeed. Yes Wifi is a temperamental beast which is affected by many things and affects the many... More

We dropped relatives at the bottom of the Tongariro Crossing and went back to the motor Inn until we needed to pick them up. Owners were very helpful with where to eat etc. Spa bath in unit great after doing the Crossing. Room very quiet and warm.

We stayed here after spending 5 days on the Whanganui River, so you could argue that our standards may not have been the highest by that point. We got a nice room with a spa bath as requested, which was great after nearly a week of dust and river water. Whilst I wouldn't say the place was outstanding, it was... More

Stayed one night here and the place was reasonably clean and quiet. The man at the desk wasn't particularly friendly but that can be a hard skill to master when you arn't that type of person. On the pros this place appears to have everything you need and is adequate in that respect, but I could see it getting cold... More

Initially we took this review seriously and asked the opinion of everyone else who has since slept in that bed. THEY HAVE ALL SAID " IT'S FINE, AND VERY COMFORTABLE". In the 2 weeks since Christmas we have had 270 guests through the motel, checked with many of them, with the same response. [Yes we know what room it was... More

We stayed two nights at the Peaks Motor Inn. Nice peaceful location and only a 10 minute walk into town. Spacious clean rooms. Helpful and organised people. We had a Tongariro crossing special, which worked out well. Would stay again.

Thanks very much for your review and for pointing out our Tongariro Crossing Special. A lot of people don't realise that with this very sharply priced deal they can catch a return shuttle from our motel gate to the Crossing (-saves a lot of driving around.) However you are so onto it. More

One night in Ohakune, so booked The Peaks, because of the location and because I've stayed here before. In principle The Peaks is a nice place, in a good location with nice rooms plenty of parking and a spa pool complex. We booked a studio (unit 3). The room has everything you need, except the queen bed which was terrible.... More

We are disappointed in this comment, as what's "terrible" for you, other guests have found to be a fantastic night's sleep. (One even wanted to take the bed home with her). That mattress is 2 year old Executive Plush mattress in the Sleepyhead hotelier range, a luxury upgrade on the previous ones in the motel. It has a complex Torquezone... More
