We were greeted by a very friendly host, who showed us to our beautiful room with an amazing view of the pond and shared details about the room amenities. The kitchen and bathroom contained several delightful bonuses which made our stay extra special. We will definitely come back to Tongariro suites and recommend it to anyone who are looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

While I never pay more than about $120 for a room in NZ, I decided to treat myself for my birthday and stay here for 3 nights. It was so worth it. I didn't want to leave! For the price, I got everything I expected. Easy check-in, a run down of the fireplace and hot tub, lovely snacks and drinks and an exceptional view. I appreciate the level of detail and cleanliness. They've thought of everything and I never had to ask for something. I also loved the eco-friendliness just like I'd do at home with a small compost bin, tree-free tissues, small recycle bin and no plastic containers. The robes were soft and comfy, as was the bed. The fireplace was amazing (and also a heater on the wall). The bathroom was luxe with a great bathtub (salts, candle, wine glass and face towel included). The very nice lotion and body gel didn't go unnoticed either! We only ever saw the wife once and the husband popped his head in while we were in the hot tub to introduce himself, although I would have liked to meet them a bit more. Thank you for a lovely stay and will be back again if in the area.

We came for a single night and wished we had stayed for two. The bedrooms were superbly appointed one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. We had a nice hot tub on the terrace and then enjoyed a quiet evening in our room. The views of the mountain where as promised although there was a little cloud. The owners pride themselves on being very eco-and recycle friendly. All of our breakfast was either home-made or presented in little glass containers which could be washed and reused. We requested electric car charging and I got the impression we were the first people who had ever asked! The owner, Karel, was very helpful and got us an extension lead which worked fine. Highly recommend

My wife and I had a really nice relaxing stay at Tongariro Suites from 28 Dec - 31 December with the Luxury Three Night Escape Package which came to $945 ($315 per night). We had the Ruapehu Suite which was at one end of the four suites available. All of the suites looked very private and spacious so I don't think I'd be upset or put off staying in any of them! All of the suites had remarkable views back towards Tongariro National Park. Some of the most beautiful morning and sunset views I've ever seen, just amazing. The suites themselves are more than big enough for two people with the bathroom being extremely spacious with a very large shower and bath tub, which also has amazing views of the mountain. The bed was large and very comfortable. The room was more than warm enough. The Tongariro Suites are located in Horopito with Ohakune being the nearest village for dining and shopping and its about 10-15 minute drive away. Ohakune has a New World and a number of bars and restaurants. Elspeth was very warm and welcoming and it was nice to chat to her about how they were doing at this strange time. Each morning you'll have a replenished continental breakfast which was great and plentiful, with bread, cereals, muesli, fresh juice and yoghurt. Eating this out on the deck looking at the mountain was an awesome and amazing way to start the day. We really loved being the way to start the day. The $70 Cypress Tree dinner voucher was a great dinner choice. This restaurant was also fantastic with really great friendly service. The food and value for money was outstanding and the $70 easily paid for our two min meals. Don't skip dessert though! The couple of beers and chocolate were a really nice added touch. I couldn't recommend Tongariro Suites enough especially if you're looking for a place to rest, relax and recharge.

Exceptional welcome on arrival ensuring we knew all the entertainment options available in the area. Our package included a contribution towards a meal and a cycle trail ride. Room was beautifully appointed and very clean our host also ensured we could work the heating options if required. Every day the kitchen was restocked and room straightened. Great attention to detail. Overall a handy location between Ohakune and the National Park that was very quiet and relaxing. Just what we needed.
