This place is good for big groups. Sleeps heaps of people. Big kitchen table for about 18 people. This makes a good place to eat, relax, drink, chat or play board games. Also there is a big lounge. Warm tidy and comfortable. Comes with a very friendly cat too.

Arawa lodge is a great place to stay in Ohakune, Jo and Alan are super friendly and are always kind and caring. I have stayed here many time and keep coming back as its such a great place to stay. Rooms are well heated and can accommodate nearly any group. Breakfast is made in the morning which is lovely way to start the day and a must have before any type of activity around Ruapheu. If you get wet they have a drying room that I have used many times after getting wet on the Mountain and the next day all my gear is dry and ready to go. 5/5 Stars Highly recommend, will definitely be back again :)

We enjoyed a lot staying here. Joe did an awesome job making us feel like we where at home, with the fire lit it was always warm and cozy. Being that close to town and the mountain was exactly what we wanted. We will def come back!

We first stayed at Arawa Lodge in 2010 and it was superb. We have come back year after year since then and not just to ski and board in the winter but also to do the Tongariro Crossing and some of the other wonderful walks and rides around this area. The hosts Jo and Alan are always hospitable, wonderfully welcoming, great fun and helpful. The lodge is family friendly - and just as welcoming to young kids, teenagers, and adults alike. If you like warm, relaxed, clean, tidy and friendly this is it! There are excellent communal areas - lounge, kitchen and dining spaces and the bedrooms are great. Absolutely recommend. Thanks again and again for another wonderful stay.

Have stayed at Arawa Lodge a few times this year and last whilst in Ohakune skiing. Always extremely warm and comfortable with nice communal spaces (kitchen, dining, living). The family who run Arawa are lovely and lend the place a unique community/family atmosphere. This sets the place up nicely and always brings out enjoyable conversation with other guests around the breakfast/dinner table.
