Me and my family (4 adult with 1 one-year-old baby boy) stayed 3 days (2 nights) in Hotel Venus*** in which the food was like in a five-star-hotel, great selection with homemade flavours. I think it is worth to choose dinner included in the reservation, nobody should miss these foods! The room were met my expectation but I think bathroom need to be renovated. There were a playroom and playground for my baby boy and we could bath in the indoor pool (outdoor pool was out of use - I guess in the end of April it is OK), so I think it is a good place to stay with children. Staff were very kind and helpful when I asked them about outdoor place to go.

So, it was our annual visit to hotel Venus/Aphrodite in Zalakaros, Hungary. My wife and I married 7 years ago and our honeymoon was in hotel Venus. Every year we came here on our anniversary and we were satisfied with everything until this year. I would like to say that we are not very demanding guests and we don't look for perfect conditions wherever we go, but this year we found some issues and we are certain that it wouldn't be better in the future, just worse. 1. We have seen a toothpick on the floor in the pool area on Friday (toothpick was in the middle of the passage, not under the radiator or chair) and it was still there on Sunday. 2. On the Sunday afternoon complete floor around the pools smelt like dirty feet. 3. Waiter in the breakfast/dinning area had shoes cover in mud (dried mud) 4. The same waiter had "white" shirt (more yellow than white) with black, filthy area on the back where he puts shirt in the trousers because it was going out all the time. 5. The same waiter had an apron so dirty that you need a really big effort to find a clean spot. 6. Paint on the columns in the pool area started to crack and fall. 7. Grills by the pools (for water spill) are cracked and there is a possibility to cut yourself. 8. Windows were not washed for god knows how long. 9. Parking on the field in front of hotel (without asphalt or concrete, just a dirt) is 2€/day. 10. "Mini-bar" (just a fridge in the room, without anything inside) is really outdated. Etc. Anyway, this was our last visit to hotel Venus / Aphrodite because we are sure that for the same ammount of money we can find better and cleaner accommodation.

The rooms are fine, but not extra clean, wellness is not up to date, I would give it 2 stars. Staff is nice, food is OK- but you always need to ask for refills. This is not worth the money, I would reccommend to find another hotel.

The hotel room was nice size as was the bathroom. The room was very clean & the staff were very helpful. The hotel offers morning breakfast & you can also get a buffet dinner every nite. we took advantage of the buffet dinner & it was very good but there are restaurants & bars across the street. Our room had a balcony & the hotel had a Wellness spa area in the basement & included an outdoor pool. There is lots of parking areas for cars. The hotel is located on main road of town but the hotel is located well off the road & we didn't notice any excessive noise.

Hotel and room was clean, staff was friendly. Bathroom really smelled bad (plumbing issue) and buffet food for breakfast and dinner was warm and plenty, fat and tasteless. we traveled for 2 weeks through Europe and never had any hotel reservations. This hotel only offered rooms with breakfast and dinner. It was the most expensive hotel we had, and - by a wide margin - the worst food. Fat and tasteless. Zalakaros has a really nice therme, but avoid the hotel Venus / Aphrodite (left wing and right wing of the same hotel.

The food is delicious thanks to the hotel's own farm. Farm visiting is a special program of the hotel. It's very interesting, don't miss. The staff is very friendly, they can solve every problem. I was traveling with two little children (one and three years old), so i had a lot of special requests. The hotel itself is fine. Has a well-equipped indoor and outdoor playground, fittness room, a little spa with 4 pool, more kind of sauna. The spa of Zalakaros is a little bit larger, and has lot more to see (don't miss the indoor part of the children's adventure park ). The hotel gives a card with which you can come out of the spa (for example to launch), and than go back.

Zalakaros is 200 km away from Budapest, and not far from Lake Balaton, another famous resort place of Hungary. Zalakaros is full of spa hotels, but Aphrodite is unique with his own bio farm where they grow everything needed for home made food based on old recepices of the region. We stayed in the presidential suite, very tastefully furnished, with comfortable bed. Some rooms are equipped with jacuzzi in the room itself, the hotel owns all types of indoor and outdoor baths, with thermal water and normal water. The hotel is very family friendly, equipped with everthing needed for families with small children. There is an amusement park run by the hotel in their farm not far from the hotel. We recommend the hotel for elderly couple, but also for young couples with children.
