Everything was awesome! I really have nothing much to complain except the food at the restaurant is just ok and it's really up to my standard. The rest everything is amazing, starting from we arrive here early in the morning and the staff gave us the room to rest from our 18 hours trip to reach here. We were surprise but in the same time we are so happy to finally get to shower and sleep on proper bed.

Dear @PKSeet, Thank you kindly for sparing a few moments to share your experience with us and other travelers; we are very happy to hear you enjoyed the lodge, our pristine natural surroundings and the early check in provided by our team. We apologize if our food offering did not meet your expectations; we have a "farm to table", Sapa inspired approach to food as part of our ecolodge concept that is heavily reliant on seasonal, local and mostly organic produce - we understand that this may not be to everyone's liking. We do also accommodate most dietary restrictions and special requests if given a bit of notice. We do hope to welcome you again one day, and please do let us know of your food preferences should you visit us in the future, I am certain we will be able to fully meet your expectations. Thank you and happy travels ahead! Warm regards, Claudia Rodrigues

I’m so glad we chose this hotel over one in Sapa. The whole experience is amazing. We loved that you could do walks through the paddy fields from the hotel without having to pay for a tour (although we had to ask quite a few times to get information on this, it wasn’t clear at first).

We got a good deal on the price but if I’d paid the normal price I would have been disappointed that there were no robes, slippers or moisturiser in the room. Also in the photos there are bikes with a baby trailer but the staff said this was being fixed. They said you can’t put a baby seat on the bikes because they are mountain bikes. Due to this we walked everywhere but actually it would have been nice to cycle just on the road with our 1 year old. I think they should invest in a bike with a child seat on it. When we checked out the restaurant bill was over 500,000vnd more than it should have been so I’m glad we checked it before paying!

Dear Gemmagaines, Thank you for sharing your experience to the Tripadvisor community. I am glad that your whole experience was good and we do apology for the inconvenience that cased by some minors’ issues. The hiking tour is offered by Topas but the commune is right next to the Topas so many guests would like to sightseeing on their own. The unclear information about paid tour or non-paid tour I believe it caused by languages barrier. Therefore, at the moment we have the Guest Relations Manager around to assist all the guests. The “normal” hospitality industry generates a lot of daily waste from in-room amenities while Topas is striving to implement the best practices to reduce our waste. Visitors could find additional amenities is available at reception. Unfortunately, bathrobes and moisturizer are not on our amenities list. Thank you for your suggestion of the baby seat on the bike. Currently we are working to fix the baby trailer. Regarding the restaurant bill I have check with restaurant team, I am apologies for our staff mistake as you informed we had removed. We will do further training to make sure this would not happen again. Once again thank you for your stay with us and we hope to welcome you in a near future. Best regards, Kent Hà

Topas Ecolodge is just idyllic. The swimming pool is obviously the main attraction and it doesn’t disappoint, whether it’s sunny or misty the views are breathtaking. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. It is obviously expensive but it’s worth it for a night or two for the experience. Definitely get your drinks during happy hour when it’s buy one get one free or you’re looking at 90k for a bottle of tiger which is clearly ridiculous. A few little things were the amount of time it took to get a cocktail during happy hour at the pool, up to 50 minutes when it was busy and happy hour is only two hours long, I don’t think that is acceptable for the price. The pool could use some more sun beds around as well. As there is construction work going on the spa is offering 20% off all services, I had a facial and it was excellent. We’d happily return to Topas for the beauty and tranquility, but we might bring our own wine!

Dear Jonathan and Laura, Thank you very much for your stay with us and I am glad to hear that you had a good time by the pool, Stilt house restaurant and Rice spa. We do apologize for the delay of making drinks during happy Happy Hour. Our Guest Relation Manager did explain directly to you regarding that however I will work with the team to improve the service. I appreciate for your feedback because it helps us constantly improve our guest experiences by knowing what we are doing right and what we can work on Allow me to clarify a few points regarding pricing of food and beverage items at Topas Ecolodge. We are very much considered and cannot be compared to other eateries or hotels. Topas is located in the middle of National Park with very limitation of transportation while damage and breakage rate sometimes is very high. Despite of that, our cocktails selection is made up with selective ingredients which we believe that quality is more important than the price. Please do not hesitate to reach out for further assistance, in the meanwhile, looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Warm regards Kent Ha

It was quite an interesting experience of high PRed hotel. What I can say - the only real thing in order to come here is to enjoy the view but all of the rest things are really not worth the price you pay for the hotel. Service overall is 0 , nothing to do in hotel overall, food is absolutely neutral compared with tasty food you can get anywhere is Sapa itself. The location is very inconvenient - as you can't easy go anywhere from there. Overall I can say that this hotel is absolutely not ready for the returning guest type, but only for some "tourists" that will come once make great view pictures ,say WoW and leave not to come back. The concept of rooms are interesting but not suatable for cold weather as the stones didn't allow warm to be kept and overall they are quite tiny.

Dear Pavel family, Thank you very much for choosing to stay at Topas Ecolodge and we are appreciated that you have spent time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that your stay was not as your expectation; however please let me clarify some parts of your comment and I hope you could understand us better: - Our team is made up of nearby villagers and we apologize if you have encountered mistakes due to language barrier nor lack of experience. - Our kitchen uses local products and goods in order to bring economic benefits to our regional communities, to minimize food waste and also to bring guest to the authentic Sapa food culture. We are sorry that the taste does not match with your own preference. - The lodge is designed as a simple retreat set within pristine natural surroundings and therefore facilities have been kept to a minimum. Still, we have two swimming pools (one heated and one with cold water), Jacuzzi, Topas Travel offers tours to exploring surrounding and our Rice spa sets up treatments with local materials and modern techniques. The weather was not supportive for many outside activities during your stay but we have board games and books available at our lounge so the family can spend your time together. - The bungalow size and the location of Topas Ecolodge are clearly described on Topas Ecolodge website with picture and we believe that you had checked before reservation. In room we have air conditioning to heat the room; we also have separated heater upon request. - Topas Ecolodge is built to host nature lovers and explorers for responsible adventures. We operate based on sustainable hotel operation values to ensure minimum impact on the surrounding environment while getting close to both culture and nature. This is our unique selling point and many guests return in order to escape from everyday life and immerse themselves into pure nature. We have our Guest Relation Manager – Lynh had personally checked your family in. She also met and greeted the family during your stay but you had not share with her any of your concern. Again thank you very much and we wish you a Happy New Year. Best regards,

Stayed for 3 days 2 nights in December 2022.

If there’s only one place to stay in Sapa, this is it. An oasis isolated on the rim of a valley with great views over rice paddies, switchbacks and a river.

Tucked away from the hustle of Sapa Town, yet accessible via a complimentary shuttle bus in a hours journey, Topas Ecolodge offers a retreat in the hillside to rejuvenate the mind and soul with a sustainable eco-minded and local-community conscience.

Breakfast in the new 360 restaurant perched on the loft of the lodge offers both local and familiar flavours with a view. We were always stuffed with the offerings of 2 breakfast courses plus eggs of choice, in addition to breakfast starters and excellent local single origin coffee.

Our family of 4 stayed at deluxe suites that were cleverly joined at the basement level, wiith balconies overlooking the valley. The suites were a great hideaway to lounge over a good book and coffee, resting tied feet after a day of hikes and trail runs.

The Ecolodge is well positioned with a range of walks, hikes or runs in its own backyard. To offer a change, there is also a fleet of Trek mountain bikes for gravel and trail riding. While the gearing was perfect and disc brakes on the bikes welcomed on dodgy roads, my only suggestion is that the bikes be maintained and tuned a little more regularly.

The majority of the helpful and ever obliging service staff are hired from the surrounding neighbourhoods. In the spirit of community, the surrounding popultions are also engaged constantly.

Anna of the front office was such a darling making us feel completely at home. Andy gave us great tips on how to coordinate our next trip which we are already looking forwards to.

We stayed at Topas for 4 nights in mid May 2021. The location is spectacular and the hotel takes full advantage of it from the villas, main restaurant, spa and most of all from the pool. The rooms are simply yet pleasantly and comfortably furnished with the emphasis on the view. The menu in the restaurant is limited but adequate with an emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce and authentic Vietnamese flavours and a quite adequate drinks and wine list. We went trekking, on bike rides, enjoyed the spa and the pool. Topas is not 5 stars and doesn’t aim to be. It is as it’s billed - an ecolodge designed for people who want a comfortable stay with an aim to enjoy the beautiful scenery and remote location and do so with an aim to sustainable tourism. For us it was a beautiful restful holiday in a very romantic peaceful location.

Love the view, landscape, surroundings and obviously the swimming pool. Definitely a good place to chill and relax and definitely a lux among sapa resorts.

However for the price, would have expected a nicer looking room with better finishing. Biggest letdown was the flooring and toilet which was extremely dated. Stayed there for 3 days 2 nights and the food selection was the same on both days (breakfast lunch dinner) in one restaurant, would have preferred if there were different menus especially for dinner as guests do not have the option of eating elsewhere as the location is rather secluded and isn't near sapa town. Average food too.

Dear @Choysj Thank you kindly for sharing your experience and feedback, we are happy to hear you enjoyed our fantastic views and natural environment. I am sorry you found our rooms lacking; a very important pillar of our concept as an ecolodge and a member of National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World revolves around the usage of natural materials, maintaining an architectural concept that is aligned with local architecture and of course sustainable hotel practices - this of course also applies to our room set up. We do try to make our rooms as comfortable as possible while staying true to this criteria and most of our guests feel quite at home in our bungalows and suites. I do apologize however if they did not meet your expectations. In regards to our cuisine, we offer "farm to table", Sapa inspired food that is mostly local, organic and seasonal; we apologize if you felt choice was insufficient. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we hope to welcome you again in the future. Happy 2020! Warm regards, Claudia Rodrigues

What a unique and charming place! We were concerned about staying in such an isolated location (almost an hour from Sa Pa town), but we absolutely made the right decision to stay at Topas Ecolodge. The location is spectacular. You could really be happy just sitting on your balcony and looking out the window, but there are hikes and bike rides you can take all around the lodge through the rice fields (make sure to take some small bills so you can buy trinkets from the Red Dao women who will insist on hiking with you until you buy a bracelet!). We also enjoyed a day-long guided hike through the rice fields and a Red Dao village. The pool is gorgeous, and they are in the process of adding a hot tub! The food was amazing, and one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had was included with our stay. The lodge was a friendly place, and we enjoyed chatting and getting advice from other travelers. I would advise travelers to book the hotel's shuttle from Hanoi. It was much more comfortable and efficient than the night train (we did both).

What can I say about Topas Ecolodge? It might be the closest thing to heaven on earth. I am already dreaming about being back! Pictures don’t even do it justice… anywhere you go around the lodge, you feel like you are in a picture book. In the evenings, I enjoyed a complimentary glass of warm mulled wine under the stars, before going to bed to the sound of chirping crickets. In the mornings, I swung my balcony doors wide open to sweeping views of mountains and rice paddies. Because the rooms don’t have wi-fi, I was able to disconnect and have long, quiet periods of relaxation, taking in the tranquil environment.

I also appreciated the range of amenities and activities available at the lodge. I relaxed with drinks by the infinity pool (for more hours than I care to admit) and paid multiple visits to the spa, which helped eased my jet lag and always left me feeling as if I’d just experienced a whole night’s sleep. The view of the mountains never does gets old, and luckily they surround you in every direction. One afternoon, a local guide led me and a couple other guests on a hike through nearby Nam Cang where we got to witness everyday life in the villages. Our hike was steep at times but overall manageable, and we brushed past waterfalls, cliffs, banana trees, and intrepid locals on motor bikes. We enjoyed a barbecue lunch by a river and learned so much from our guide, who grew up in the Sapa region and spoke very good English.

Above all, I must highlight the kindness and diligence of the staff. After I checked out, I realized I had left a highly valuable item in my room. However, this realization came much too late: I had just gotten off the 5-hour shuttle drive to the airport and was actively boarding a flight to Ho Chi Minh City, 2 hours away. I was stressed since I had to leave Vietnam in just 2 days. An exceptionally generous staff member came to my rescue and took it upon himself to **hand deliver** my valuables to me at my hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, enduring a 14+ hour round trip journey on my behalf. This is the nicest thing anybody has ever done for me! I still can’t believe that they went to such lengths to make sure that I left for home with all my things. I’m so grateful to the staff of Topas not just for the exceptional experience during my stay, but even after. They truly care about their guests here and hold themselves to the highest standard of hospitality. If you are lucky enough to have a chance visit Topas, run, don’t walk.

The best hotel in the SAPA area.
They make it easy to go al the way to SAPA and enjoy your stay there. Transportation from Hanoi, tours, room, food, service and people always helpful and smiling. What is not to like?
We had really good tours everyday. We were there mainly for hiking and getting to see rice fields. It was not just very well organized, but also private.
The hotel rooms are very spacious two floors and with expansive views of the mountains. Which we enjoy a lot in the sunset. The bathtub was very appreciated in the afternoons when it gets chilly.
There is also a beautiful pool with views to the mountains and rice fields. Where you can enjoy drinks and ice creams.
The spa is a must for getting a massage after the hikes
The most surprising thing about this experience was the food. Every breakfast and dinner were just delicious, even if a little expensive is worth it. The views of the restaurants are to die for.
Try the Vietnamese wines, you won't regret it.
