Kebun Villas Bali is a hidden paradise lying on the slopes of Mount Batukaru in central Bali, 500m above sea level. The 16 uniquely furnished guest cottages are set in a lush garden, and the swimming pool is surrounded by rice fields. Kebun cafe has a bar and a terrace overlooking the 2 hectare garden and the view down to the sea. There is a gift shop next to the cafe, and so many Kebun guests ask about our antique collection and special tropical hardwood furniture, we also take orders for these.

Family stay in August 2023, very good memories of Villa Kebun and its boss Deddy. We were lucky enough to spend 2 nights in a brand new and well-equipped room (padi 1 and 2), with comfortable bedding and a beautiful view of the swimming pool and rice fields from the balcony. Restaurant with good, simple dishes and musical entertainment, sometimes provided by the hotel manager.

Looking for some down time while in Bali? Kebun is an oasis amidst the rice paddies, with gorgeous gardens, quirky antiques and a locally-hired staff who make you feel right at home! Borrow their bikes to take tours of rice paddies, temples and the local village. Ask Sheila, the owner, to borrow her binoculars and bird book, and if you're lucky you will see kingfisher and eagles! Stop by Warung Dedy on your way home for a unique and delicious Balinese chicken-coconut soup (Entil Sanda)!

My husband and I stayed here for a week as part of a wider tour of the region. I knew that 'kebun' meant garden or orchard, but I wasn't prepared for the breathtakingly beautiful place that we found. Trees of all varieties, exotic flowers, butterflies and birdsong... I was in heaven in my little bungalow. The warung/restaurant is a great place to eat, drink and admire the view. We really enjoyed the mix of local and European cuisine, and I particularly loved the fruit platters and smoothies at breakfast. The owner, Deddy, is the most generous host you could hope to meet; he will go out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and get the best out of your stay. His wife is an absolute sweetheart. I wish I could return here every year.

I stayed in this hotel for one night only during my roundtrip in Bali. I arrived around lunch which was included in my trip. Unfortunately I was given a European type lunch instead of local food. I don’t travel this far to eat Schnitzel. It was disappointing but the food was actually quite good. The restaurant’s toilets are dodgy as the wooden slats used as doors don’t close all the way – the leave a huge gap. So anybody can watch you on the toilet.
The rooms are allocated on a hill going down to some rice paddies and the pool. My room was located at the top of the hill, still a fair bit of stairs to climb through which can be tricky if you have trouble with stairs. The room itself was ok, nothing special. The bathroom was bare bones, with a very dark rock wall and floor in the shower and toilet area, 2 bare light bulbs. No soap or hand towels in the bathroom, no hairdryer. But two big geckos who live in the shower. No wifi in the room. There was a balcony which was nice to sit on and read. There was only a curtain over the one widow in the room, but it did not cover the entire window. The bed was extremely uncomfortable – hard with bars and springs digging into you. There was a very ripped mosquito net over the bed and you could only get in from the bottom of the bed. Sleep was hard to come by, between the hard, lumpy bed, the dog that was yapping into the late hours and a confused rooster that started crowing at 2am. Apparently I was the only guest that night in the hotel. I feel bad for the owner and everybody was really nice, but the hotel is not something I would usually stay in. I was happy to leave.

I recently stayed at Kebun, a hidden gem nestled on a lush, green hillside. It was a fabulous experience where I was able to unwind and reconnect with the natural world. Watching the birds and listening to the birdsong was just wonderful. I enjoyed relaxing on the villa balcony, swimming in the pool and taking in the views of Bali from the bar terrace. It was also a great place to explore the local area and culture and the town of Ubud is well worth a visit. The local, freshly prepared authentic meals were delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and the host, Deddy was incredibly warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful tips about the best spots to explore nearby. This place is a haven for anyone looking to unplug and rejuvenate in the heart of nature. I left feeling refreshed and inspired, and I can't wait to return for another dose of Bali bliss.

Excellent place to stay for a few nights. Heavenly break after crazy busy traffic jammed Ubud. Really beautiful location, views to mountains and down to the south coast.
Very comfortable beds (very high priority for me), new linen, rooms really clean. The one we stayed in (Cempaka?) Was stunning, huhe room, 2 double beds, a transformed old "joglo" from Java. Gorgeous solid polished wood (teak?), rich chocolate colour. Shiney polished floors.
The hosts and staff were great. Extremely friendly and very helpful.
Lots.of info and advice about things to do. You can take up one of the many activities on offer to explore the local area - trekking local mountain trails, bike rides (they have fancy bikes and a truck and guides for rides), or just hang out and enjoy Kebun surrounds, table tennis, board games, a book and a snooze in the quiet by the pool. Heavenly.
Highly recommended

The rooms are modern, clean and quiet. The lounge reception area is gorgeous filled with original Balinese crafted furniture, a nice well stocked bar, from the terrace on a clear day we could see all the way to Seminyak. The tropical gardens at Kebun villas are truly superb, with winding paths that lead to our room.
The pool is great for swimming or just relaxing, it gets cool in the Bali hills but the pool temperature is perfect for swimming. Food is fresh well cooked and a good selection, Luxury in Paradise enjoy.

Beautiful gardens, great local food in the restaurant, good service and staff and a very attentive owner - Mr Dedy. Rooms are terrific and the room I had had very comfortable bed, hot water in the bathroom, spacious bedroom and a fantastic balcony out front over-looking the gardens. Tranquil and has a real touch of Bali rural. Good little souvenir shop too.
