Yoga: a high standard of yoga with experienced and enthusiastic teachers; I was very impressed with the variety and calibre of yoga sessions on offer, the yoga studios were clean and provided a good environment

Staff: very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, very helpful and friendly, helped and checked on me when I got sick - very much appreciated, reception staff will gladly organise airport transfers, cleaning staff do a very good job of maintaining a clean environment

Accommodation: guesthouse is in a good location by the beach + easy to use Grab to get a bike elsewhere, daily breakfast was fully vegan + at a good standard, stayed in Banyan (single ensuite with AC) amenities were basic but comfortable, appreciated the daily cleaning, very relaxing garden and pool

Serenity lives up to its name… it’s very tranquil & serene, especially around the pool area.
Lots of different yoga classes etc every day.
The restaurant Alkaline is very popular, you can see through windows into the kitchen, it is very clean & hygienic!
The rooms could be a little less basic, but for the money you can’t complain!
Great location for beach & restaurants, bars, shops & markets.
Staff are very friendly & helpful 😊

Serenity Eco Guesthouse and Yoga is a cute place to stay amd has some of the best staff in Bali! My friends and I stayed for 8 days in a private guestroom with AC. The rooms with AC are a great booking choice if you're not used to Bali heat/humidity. The beds are covered with a mosquito net and the room includes a large bottle of mosquito repellent lotion. The SPA is definitely a must do! I literally had a massage every day of my stay because the services were so GOOD. I highly recommend the organic facial, body scrub + massage, and the hot stone or herbal ball massage!! There is a restaurant on site that sales delicious vegan food that comes in hefty portions. Free breakfast buffer for Serenity guests was delicious (try the turmeric, charcoal, and carrot breads). Bring a reusable water so you can refill it at the water coolers.
Extra perks of Serenity---
1. it is a smoke free place which as a non smoker who hates the smell of smoke it is much appreciated. Since a lot of restaurants allow smoking it was nice that I could eat a meal at Serenity without having to smell some strangers cigarette they lit while eating.
2. Less than a 5min walk to the beach ⛱️
3. Rooms are cleaned daily

Cons:
Coordinating airport pick up can be difficult because you have to prepay online and on my end the website server kept experiencing errors so I could prepay. After several texts with Serenity they coordinated the car service snd I just paid them upon arrival.

I was really looking forward to staying here due to the amazing reviews and yoga but my experience has been awful. I booked a private double room with a bathroom through booking.com and was not informed at any point that my bedroom would be open plan and basically outside, the pictures did not show this at all. When I arrived I was taken to my room and really wanted to give it a chance as it was beautiful and I was given a very warm welcome. My hot water was barely working for the duration of my stay and there was extremely loud construction happening directly opposite the venue. As my room is open plan the noise was so unbearable and the venue at no point informed me or other guests of the construction happening whilst I was booking. When I went to reception to complain and ask why nothing was communicated to me when I booked they were rude and dismissive, and did not take me seriously at all. They said it’s out of their control which I agreed with, but asked why they did not inform me that my room was open plan as I could have made the choice to stay somewhere else. They continued to be rude and did not care about the fact I had paid over £600 to stay for almost 3 weeks. I said I would stay if they could at least give me a partial refund or some kind of reimbursement as everywhere else is fully booked due to it being Christmas. The staff only offered to waive the cancellation fee which was not even £25. So I am now stuck in a room that has hot water 10% of the time, getting bitten to shreds by bugs and extreme noise from construction and beach clubs which goes on until the early hours. The construction is so loud that yoga classes have been affected and cancelled.

The only good thing about this accommodation is the lovely restaurant staff who are incredibly kind, but the cashiers are also rude. I have a severe peanut allergy and asked if something on the menu had peanuts in it, the cashier looked at me like I was stupid and said no, And when the food arrived it was covered in peanuts and peanut sauce. The menu doesn’t say if some dishes have peanuts in or not which is ridiculous.

I’m genuinely so gutted as the accommodation really is stunning and the atmosphere aside from those issues is great, but it’s a real shame that the staff have not tried to resolve any of this. If you want somewhere quiet I would not recommend staying here because it’s far from peaceful.

Greetings Leah, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us understand where we can improve and create a better experience for all our guests. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, and we would like to address the concerns you raised with the utmost care and attention. The room you booked, a double room with fan and private bathroom, is as described on Booking.com, which is part of the room category you selected. We understand that the layout was not what you expected, but we hope you can understand that it was clearly indicated in the room details. Regarding the construction noise, we understand how disruptive it was to your stay. The tree cutting next to our property was necessary due to severe weather conditions, and unfortunately, we did not receive prior notice. We realize this affected your experience, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it caused. We have thoroughly checked the hot water issue, and it is functioning properly now. We do understand that occasional technical issues may arise, and we strive to resolve them as quickly as possible to ensure our guests comfort. Additionally, we apologize for the oversight regarding your meal. This is something we will address with our team to ensure better care is taken in the future. Once again, thank you for your feedback and understanding. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the peaceful and enjoyable experience you were hoping for. With Serenity, Ayu

Such a lovely place. They offer many yoga classes and a lovely restaurant. If you’re about the eco living they definitely do it well here. Room we were in had no windows just shutters so the air is very fresh. I hadn’t realized when booking there was no air conditioning just a fan just to be aware. The staff were so friendly and we definitely enjoyed our stay.

Greetings Wright, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our yoga classes, restaurant, and eco-living approach—these are aspects we take great pride in. We appreciate your feedback regarding the room setup. Our unique shutter design is intended to provide fresh air and enhance the eco-friendly experience, but we understand that it may not suit everyone, especially without air conditioning. We’ll ensure this detail is highlighted more clearly during the booking process to set better expectations for future guests. Your kind words about our friendly staff mean so much to us. The good
Incredible yoga classes with a wide variety of types of classes ranging from beginner to advanced. Literally yoga options every day, all day. The breakfast is really good, although it is hard to find bad food anywhere in Canggu so in comparison to the places I ate elsewhere, its just good. The pool area and grounds are really nice and make you feel like you are immersed in nature even in busy Canggu. The staff were kind and helpful. Good location close to the beach. They allowed me to check in early after sleeping on one of their benches from 4-7am

The bad
Everything to do with the sleeping arrangement was quite awful for me. I was in a 5 bed dorm which had no AC so it was hot and sticky 100% of the time. I think some of the private rooms had AC but not all. I slept horribly all 3 nights I was there. Its an eco resort so I guess that means they don’t believe in proper sound proof walls and windows because my room was open to the entire outside of the adjacent street. I could hear EVERYTHING going on within a half mile radius. The loud bar down the street and the obnoxious British guys who liked to walk up and down the side alley at 2am. I could hear the night guard on his phone. There is also construction going around in all directions from 7am until til 5pm or so. For a place that is supposed to be quiet for yoga, it was anything but. Even with the mosquito nets, I was bitten up everywhere. My arms and legs are covered in all different types of bumps and bites. So all the mosquito net did was block the air coming from the small fan above you. It was quite useless actually. The wifi was atrocious. Almost unusable at times and I found myself going to a cafe to spend unnecessary money on food and drink to sit in AC with good wifi.

I enjoyed my stay because I really needed the yoga and the classes were great, but if you value sleep and comfort like I do, I would recommend to stay somewhere else and go for the yoga and breakfast

Hi Mark, thank you very much for taking the write your experience. We are really glad that you had a great time joining our yoga classes and enjoyed our all you can eat daily vegan buffet breakfast! Thank you for mentioning our pool area and permaculture garden as we put a lot of effort in ensuring we're constantly improving our cohesion with nature. Well noted for your room stay in Yogi Dorm, our 5bed dormitory with fan & shared bathroom. We agree that in February the temperature can get hotter than usual. We're in discussion whether to turn it into an AC dorm or to keep it an open air dorm for the simple reason that if we start turning every room into an AC room, then we lose the "eco" spirit of providing sustainable low carbon footprint accommodation. In the meantime perhaps move to another AC room if available at Serenity? In terms of the noise we also agree that recently there has been a lot of construction happening, especially one just opposite yogi dorm, they are planned to finish in mid-March 2024 we've been told. Its important to properly close your mosquito nets as Canggu mozzies are quite quick to enter openings in the net; our front office can help show you how to properly close the mosquito net. Finally for the wifi, we're currently in the process to improve the wifi connection in Yogi dorm. By any chance have you tried our Cozy Corner Coworking to work? It has 5G wifi speed connection (wifi network Serenity 5G; password: mayallbehappy) thank you again for sharing your feedback. We always appreciate feedback. In the future perhaps reach out to reception if in case on the first night things do not go as planned? as we're always keen to make it right. In the end we strive to provide the best for you during your stay. We're glad you enjoyed our yoga classes and vegan food. Thank you for pushing us to improve our yogi dorm :) with Serenity, Krishna

I felt comfortable here overall. The many different yoga lessons were a dream. My suite LOVE was big and spacious. The only bad thing was the 4 rats in my room on the first evening. I reported it and the team tried very hard, I even put all my supplements in the box. But the rats came anyway. But only 2 came. I reported it again. The team cleaned my room every day, they put natural rat poison and plugged the hole in the bathroom. I actually had one night of peace. Maybe they should do a complete deep clean to get rid of the rats and maybe let a few more cats in. But otherwise I thought it was nice and I would come again.

Super cute Hostel, simply furnished rooms, great vegan restaurant with a big angenot of delicious dishes and the pool invites you to relax with its insanely cozy furnishings with attention to detail. There is free drinking water and the yoga sessions as well as the massages (super cheap) I can only recommend.
My personal highlight: not 5min walk away there is a paradise beach!
I regretted only being here for 2 days:)

The yoga schedule is fantastic with regular sessions throughout the day and a huge variety of different yoga practices. The only downside was I wasn’t able to try all the different practices in my week here but I did try some new ones which I really enjoyed!

The location is OK, there are a few places to eat nearby and very close to the beach. It is opposite Zin which has great food, gym access & fitness classes (really enjoyed all of these). The road was quiet enough and had amenities. Beware of the market shop next door which tried to shortchange me every time. There is a lot of construction on the road and opposite the hotel. To walk to the parallel street (more variety of restaurants and shops) is down an unlit road with no pavements which didn’t feel safe at night. It would be better to get a Grab or Gojek.

The breakfast included was very limited and poor. Some mornings all I would eat was fruit as there was nothing else that I found appetising despite trying everything. I found the juices to be really weak and not tasty. The coffee is far too strong for me and I often had to work off the buzz.

The yoga teachers were all very good and gave plenty of options so you could do what felt comfortable for you. I do think they could have given more corrections but often we were big classes. It did feel magical to be doing yoga in the shala whilst it rained outside.

The accommodation was great, it is a very communal feel. I stayed in a 5 bed mixed dorm and had an area as opposed to a bunk. You had a curtain for privacy. The rooms were cleaned twice a day. If you aren’t used to the communal feel then this could be quite overwhelming.

Communication between the staff and myself was great, the employees were super helpful at the retreat and mostly very cheery and welcoming. The spa facilities were also fantastic and very reasonably priced.

The value for money is amazing, there is so much yoga to choose from. Even if you weren’t staying here it would be worth paying for the yoga package. In total I did 11 classes over 7 days and I feel I really got my money worth (especially compared to other areas where I was paying 150K for a session).

Overall this is a great place to stay and I really see the appeal here and admire the community they want to build. However, I issue a warning to all fellow empaths that there is a lot of energy here which can be difficult to navigate. I arrived full of energy and moved hotel after the 4th night (to the sister Seabreeze hotel for a private room) as I was really struggling and felt very drained. I sensed a lot of burn out here. If you are not sensitive to others energy then this would not affect you but if you are more spongy then I would be wary. Once I moved I felt better overnight and enjoyed coming to the hotel for the yoga sessions.

I can't find another place like this (all-inclusive accommodation + yoga + vegan food) anywhere else, so I keep on coming back. There are pluses and minuses here: yoga class with teacher Kartana is the best form me. Mano's class is fun too. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The vegan breakfast buffet is good (fresh fruits and rice cakes) but it lacks protein because it's mostly natural sugar and carbs. It's an eco-guesthouse, so rooms are not soundproof since they're made of bamboo and wood. While it gives you the feeling that you're close to nature, it's also very distracting when they accept guests very late at night when everyone's already sleeping. I would suggest that they should have a cut off check-in time of 10pm only and reinforce the lights off and quiet time policy after 10pm.

Hi Tutor of Manila, thank you so much for taking the time to write about your review. We are so glad you had a great experience doing yoga with Kartana and Mano. Also enjoying our friendly team and healthy vegan breakfast! Well noted that some rooms could be more soundproof and well received for late arrivals disturbing other guests sleeps. We have now implemented a policy where our security will use their phone light to checkin a guest at night, especially the dormitory. We have also put signs at the entrance asking our guests to be aware of not disturbing other guests with light during night time thank you again for your comments, we are glad our yoga classes and food offering keeps you coming back! with Serenity, Krishna

Greetings Kruze, Well received your email. If you want to organize only a board hire, Serenity is near to two amazing beach breaks, Berawa and Batubolong, both which have plenty of boards for rent.
