This hotel used to be my go-to in Tianjin when it was under Modena by Fraser. After the change of ownership, I booked it for a week, but left after one night, which has been my worst hotel stay. The one bedroom apartment I stayed came with all the hotel nightmares you can ever image- broken wardrobe doors, sofa full of stains, greasy and dirty kitchen, leaking shower with unknown deposit built-up, broken old duvet covers turned gray, building main door didn't shut, staff who couldn't care less. STAY AWAY!
Quite old and shabby inside, unlike website photos, with stained furniture and surfaces not properly wiped. Bathroom amenities either pre-used or leaking dating from 2016. Location good if you like today's overpriced shops and fast food outlets. Bed ok, but TV and lamps not plugged in ready to use. Microwave was ancient history, but worked. Toilet needed a proper disinfectant cleaner to remove smell. Bath towels hard and old. I got used to the apartment by the second day. Online maps from nearby station not clear so had some trouble finding it and needed a taxi.
I'm at the LoGin now. For 3 nights. We like it. Better than MANY pricier serviced Apts in Beijing but that's Beijing. It's not new but kept in decent shape as in no mold from water dripping everywhere. Carpets and pretty clean. One big bedroom; second one small but ok. Plenty of closets. Big lounge area with couch and working desk. 3 flat screens but we didn't turn them in. WiFi works quite well. Kitchen area large and clean. IKEA style. No utensils etc. But there are coffee cups etc. Bathroom is wonderful - ok not 5 star but good solid 3/4 star with bath and tub. And bidet toilet with heated seat. Little cramped but nice. Security is ok but parking is limited. My wife told them we're American and we expect free parking. Tell them if you have to pay nearby, they have to cover it. They agreed -- reluctantly but agreed. You can't go wrong here. We paid 395 rmb per night through booking.com which is now my number 1 choice. They're the best. Imo. But book early. There are all sorts of Chinese holidays and the prices can go up 40% and often booked out. Not just here but everywhere. Very central walking to breakfast shops restaurants everything. This is a 2 bedroom 1 large bathroom serviced apt for $60/night.…
The apartment is very spacious considering its central location at the city, next to the famous Xikai church. In the morning, you could hear the church bell. 7-11 is in front of the apartment. It is very near to the shopping area and cafes. Next to it is Guangyang Road where there are few eateries, mini marts and fruit mart.
If you are traveling with 2 kids then it is better to get a 2 bedroom apartment..the living room are spacious..the masterbedroom are huge..the 2nd room is comfortable for the kids..the kitchen's got a refrigerator, microwave oven, stove for us to cook and there are some dinner plates and bowls in the cupboard..if you plan to stay longer then it would be best to get a 2 bedroom with kitchen and washing machine for you to do your laundry. The apartment with 1 room is okay..but if you want some privacy then it is not a good choice as the windows in the kitchen are transparent enough for your neighbours above you to stalk at your cooking. Please ask for higher level as lower ones will block your view of the streets. There is a mosque for muslims to pray just accross the street. And there is a halal chinese restaurant (green signage) in less than 200m walking distance. Groceries can be bought at Carefour. We got there by taxi at first then decided to walk back to our hotel. The hotel is also near to the city centre in just walking distance. There is Uniqlo, Watsons, bread shop and few bars nearby. The city centre is huge and there are a lot of shopping malls including Isetan. Another halal chinese restaurant is near tianjin foreign studies university. The hotel is just walking distance from there. Going to the train station to get to the airport or anywhere else can be done by taking a cab. There are a lot of cabs and the price are around 13 yuan. Our first time in tianjin we took a private personal cab that cost us 200 yuan. We were pretty upset when we realised the distance to the hotel doesn't fit the price of 200 yuan. Be careful on that. Always ask for the normal blue cabs for the receipt. If you want to report on anything, the local authorities are able to find the cab driver. Next, if you're traveling with toddlers please do bring some extra diapers. I think the price are very expensive. That's about all. Thanks for reading and viewing.…
