We loved camping at Alaska State Park's Quartz Lake overnight. Each site was clean and within easy walking distance of the beach. Boat rental requires online reservations prior to arrival. $15 per night.
The state and national campsites are very good in AK. They provide a back to nature experience while most of the private campgrounds are parking lots. Just be prepared with wet wipes to clean the vault toilets! They are not as bad as some in the lower 48,however.

Quality of AK State and Borough Campgrounds was very very good. Camped under the stars in June and had a wonderful experience. National Pakks Campgrounds were also very nice.
