I had amazing time at Between Beaches. Out of all the things I did in Alaska this was the best. The cabin was authentic Alaskan experience of staying in a real Alaskan homestead with a few extra luxuries. The owner and their family went out of their way to make it wonderful time even taking us on a adventure to see the red rocks a magnificent site on the beach.

During a rainy, grey summer on Katchemak Bay we Alaskans went off to Between Beaches where we enjoyed a dip into our Alaska past. Our cabin was furnished with a clever array of repurposed and recycled gear…an ice tongs to hold the paper towels, fishing rods for curtain rods, antique boat cleats for towel hanging. The care and fun with which the artist/owner has developed the property is evident inside and out. A coffee maker, refrigerator and electrical outlets hidden about the rough-edge countertop offered all the amenities of modern life while we enjoyed the incomparable ocean views and the sound of rain pattering on the roof of our cozy hideaway.

Two days of absolute bliss. Just a 30 min water taxi from Homer. We brought some light eats, couple bottles of wine and a few meals to cook on the grill. Spent mornings tide-pooling the beach and evenings by the fire watching the tide return. We'd never seen so many bald eagles fly above us all at once. It was a truly magical experience I would undoubtedly return for again.

A great friend of mine has been telling me about Between Beaches for years and her love of the place. My schedule finally worked out for me to visit this slice of Alaska heaven during the Fourth of July weekend, and I immediately fell in love as well. Between Beaches is located on the MacDonald Spit between Kasitsna Bay and Kachemak Bay near the city of the Seldovia. It is a short water taxi ride from the city of Homer with some of the most breathtaking scenery you could imagine. The owner, Kristi, and her staff are very attentive to the needs of their guest and offer a warm Alaska welcome and hospitality during your stay at Between Beaches. Many times they went above and beyond any expectations I would have to make my stay what I had dreamed of before visiting here. There are several different options for lodging during your stay from an adorable dry cabin, lovely cabins with all the amenities, and a stunning beach house with a separate guest cabin for those needing more space. There is also a sauna and hot tub that face out to the pristine Kachemak Bay. Sometimes, you may even be able to spot whales while you’re taking a hot tub or sauna! Kayaks and row boats are included with your reservation. Plus there is bird viewing (tons of eagles!!), hiking, wildlife viewing (so many otters!!) tide pooling, beach combing, beach fishing…the list of activities to do while you are here literally goes on and on. After your activities of the day, and you’re ready to wind down and relax with your favorite beverage, Kristi’s touches around the property as an accomplished artist are apparent everywhere you look. I never grew tired of looking at all the neat touches from her artist’s eye that makes this place truly unique when it comes to Alaska lodges. This place should be top on your list of places to visit and stay in Alaska whether you are a visitor or a born and bred Alaskan! Thank you Kristi and staff for an amazing Fourth of July weekend!!!…

This was an amazing place to stay. I wish we had booked more than two nights. We took the ferry from Homer Spit into Seldovia and taxied to the cabins. The cabin is right on the beach in the rear and on the beach and nestled in trees in the front. You cannot beat the view. The cabin is small for three people, but we didn't notice. We had plenty of space to play cards, eat, and relax. We cooked meals inside the cabin on both nights and found that it had everything we needed. There is a portable heater and a heated mattress pad for chilly nights. The outdoor shower has nice hot water and shampoo was provided. Towels were also provided. We dug for butter clams at low tide. The guide book provided great instructions on where to find them and they had rubber boots available to borrow. We kayaked. We walked the beach at low tide. A perfect stay. Be sure to bring in food to cook. If you can't, don't worry because you can taxi into town. Also, we arranged a private taxi on the way back to Homer. It was cheaper and easier. Next time we'd do that both ways. …

We stayed In the beachcomber which was Perfect for the two of us. It had an outdoor kitchen and outdoor shower and appointed nicely. The hosts Jade and Nathan were helpful in every way. We loved the sauna and jacuzzi with ocean views. I highly recommend Between beaches if you are looking for a getaway in Alaska

Between Beaches is an absolutely magical retreat in a magical location. Uniquely situated on a thin spit of land that affords you a stunning view of both Kachemak Bay and Kasitsna Bay in a gorgeous part of Alaska. You soak in mountains and volcanos near and far, the delightful ocean, sealife and birds, gorgeous wildflowers and a very interesting rock landscape. These are very special cabins with incredible attention to detail. Each cabin is meticulously crafted with beautiful antique decorations that are tastefully done. It’s a very photogenic landscape, not just the scenery, but what Kristy, the owner has created is just a joy to view. From Japanese glass fishing floats, to ceramic art made by Kristy, to bedding that is top notch. There is lovely sauna, hot tub, Adirondack chairs for each cabin both on the beach, with wood to have your private beach fire, and chairs and hammocks near you cabin too. Beyond the scenery and buildings and art, you experience a lovely staff that know hospitality at it’s finest. Gracious, helpful and friendly. Don’t miss this gem of a spot. Kayak, beach walk, tide pool, bring a good book, and just unplug for a few days. A hidden treasure.…

We stayed in the Pioneer cabin for a couple of nights for our anniversary. It was just what we were looking for. Super cute, rustic but with modern amenities like warm shower, heated mattress pad & hot tub. McDonald Spit is a very quiet unique place. Lachlan was a great host.

My new happy place!!! Between beaches is undeniably one of my favorite destinations to experience. It’s rustic elegance at its finest. The host, Kristy, is a pleasure to chat with and has paid so much attention to every little detail to make your stay one you won’t forget! Very comfortable accommodations, breathtaking views and lots of incredible nature to explore. This is a ‘must do’ in my book!

Staying at Between Beaches had been on my want list for a year, and it did not disappoint. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We loved the reclaimed items used as decor, and the special touches that made it welcoming. The location is absolutely gorgeous. Even though the weather was stormy we could still watch the eagles, loons, sea otters, and seals from our cabin windows. I can only imagine how much more beautiful it would be on a bright sunny day. Krista has created a true nature lovers oasis and I can't wait to visit again.
