Sam & his crew are AWESOME. Lodge is comfortable and clean. The luxury of having a hot shower to & from Moose camp is priceless. There were 9 in our group and virtually everyone commented on the hospitality of Yukon River Lodge. On our return trip they had saved extra fuel for us which was a real life saver because everyone was out of fuel on the river waiting for a fuel barge. Next time we are back on the Yukon we will definitely stop for a return visit!
I have been to the Yukon River Lodge twice each time with friends for some sightseeing. The first time 2 of us stayed in the Cabin not the lodge. The view out the front window was of the fabulous Yukon river, simply amazing. The first morning we walked over to the driveway to go up to the lodge and happened upon FRESH moose tracks, so fresh we could hear it in the brush ahead of us. The rest of the stay was tremendous. The second stay I opted to stay in the cabin again, sadly no moose escort to the lodge. We were on the river a lot the scenery breathtaking Sam’s knowledge of the river led us to fantastic areas and excellent hiking on land. Seeing bears in the wild is something you don’t forget and moose tracks as big as my boot was phenomenal. Tamara and Sam are both knowledgeable and fascinating hosts. Tamara wins the culinary edge with Sam a good second.…
The folks who run this place are top notch. In addition to the world class hospitality they had excellent prices on both fuel and lodging. We could not have been happier with the accommodations or the service. If you get a chance to stay here of just stop by to refuel, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
Very nice place, a jewel on the Yukon a little up river from Ruby, Alaska. Very accommodating family owned and operated lodge. Comfortable rooms, beautiful setting, fuel, food, call ahead for reservations, you love it.
This was our second stay at the Yukon River Lodge, and it was just as wonderful as our first! The location is spectacular; the accommodations are very comfy; and the food was plentiful and delicious. The side trips with Sam and Tamara were special. Their knowledge of the plants, animals, and birds of the area is vast. We heartily recommend their boat trips up the Melozi, to Twin Slough, and to Deep Creek. Jim & Cindy S.
Sam is a wonderful host. His lodge is a great place to stay. Sam also provided us with river transportation for a hike to Melozi. On day two of our hike, we had to back out due to my son's knee. I sent Sam a text with my inReach and he dropped everything to come get us. Sam also provided us with sugestions for places to fish and possible side trips while paddling down the Yukon. If you need anything, just ask and Sam is there to help. My boys still talk about his dog Nick. Nick is well trained and very friendly.
