We totally loved our stay at Knik River Lodge. Our cabin was super clean and super cozy with a lovely view. It was very quiet at night with an amazing array of stars. We had dinner at the lodge and it was very nice with friendly servers. The included breakfast the next morning was also very good. We chose the Lodge due to its proximity to the Knik Glacier tour and we were totally happy with our choice.
Knik River Lodge is at the end of the road. I had a late checkin and my room information was ready for me. There are several cabins. My cabin was for up to 4 people. Unplug and enjoy the beautiful cabins and surrounding area. My cabin could have up to 4 people. Each cabin has a porch. Inside there is a refrigerator, coffee pot, small gas fireplace, and a TV for watching movies which you can borrow. There is no phone or microwave. Included in my stay was a buffet breakfast. I had scrambled eggs, toast, reindeer sausage, potatoes, and orange juice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cabin was clean and there was plenty of room.
We were there in September, decidedly near the end of the season, and after the tourist hordes were gone (I heard a rumor that cruise ship groups sometimes come by the bus-load). In any case, our experience was delightful. The cabin was well equipped and maintained, including a coffee maker and a fridge, and the view out the front was panoramic. The included breakfast was made for us after we sat down (though there was no choice about the main part: scrambled eggs, home-fried potatoes and reindeer sausage), and was quite good (though the reindeer sausage, popular in Alaska, tastes like hot-dogs to me). There was also toast, yogurt, etc available at a self-serve table over to the side. The tea was good -- the coffee not so much. I'm not sure if we'd stay there at high-season prices (don't know what they are), but in September, it was a good value.…
The cabins were comfortable though rustic. The towels aren’t great but it was easy to get extras. The staff was terrific - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and good. Lunch and dinner were quire good.
This is probably one of the more rustic places I have stayed at. They say they have wifi but I had to have my phone outside in order to get it. The room would not connect to it. There are TV’s in the room but they are used for movie DVD’s...which are free to borrow. We did not eat here except for breakfast and it was decent. There was a hair dryer and a shower. Each room is a separate cabin and is very quaint with sink, kitchenette, etc. I would have loved staying here a bit longer but we only stayed one night.
