Owners Jim and Karen are beyond delightful!! Knowledgeable of the area and give detailed outlines of top sites, locations, fishing spots, Aura and so much more! I travel extensively and have not met more accommodating and wonderful property owners. If you are coming this way you will be remiss not to book your stay here whether travelling on business, with family or couples. The cabins are immaculate and quite updated with whirlpool tubs! The grounds are beautiful and private access to the lake, canoes, paddleboat and so much more are here for you!
My partner and I had just lost our beloved Maine Coon cat the morning prior to our afternoon arrival at this remote little serenely beautiful spot. Jim and Karen the hosts sat with us for about an hour comforting us, sharing personal information about their own departed pets and making us feel like we had shared time with close family members. Everything in this cabin was clean, well supplied and convenient. BEST was the unobstructed view of Daniels Lake. We rowed out to see and photograph loons, we heard the calling of the loons, like in On Golden Pond, at 0430 am there was a loon and a pair of swan swimming in the soft morning light. Yes, Covid has made many things difficult, if not impossible, but this little place helped to begin healing our broken hearts.
We had our vacation booked in advance...then COVID hit. Since we were going to be traveling with our child, we decided it wasn't worth the risk, so cancelled about a month prior (things were obviously not going to improve). Everyone was so great about allowing us to rechedule. Except Daniels Lake. All of my requests to cancel went into a black hole. Nothing, no replies. Which means I was charged the FULL AMOUNT. All this means is next spring when we go back, we'll find somewhere else for our 14 day stay. Just beware, things are all good until you want to make a change. Then, good luck.
First time to visit Daniel’s Lake Lodge. My sister and brother-in-law have been visiting here for 13 straight years. They have been telling me how great the hosts, Jim and Karen are so I finally decided to see for myself. They are correct, they are wonderful hosts and their B&B is is a great place to stay. The view of Daniel’s Lake is breathtaking. The accommodations were clean and very accommodating. I plan to return next year.
We stayed in the two bedroom cabin near the lake and thoroughly enjoyed it...so much so that I really didn’t want to leave! That had to do with both the comfort of the cabin and the friendly hosts (Karen and Jim). We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. There are also nice rooms in the main house and the ability to do laundry. The view of the lake was so relaxing and had beautiful morning views! There’s a fire pit, hot tub and a dock with boats that can be rented. WiFi is very spotty, even though they try to move the extender. We usually had to go outside to pick it up. That said, a lovely, relaxing place to stay.
My 10 year old grandson and I wanted a place to stay in Nikiski while looking over some property I own. (I live in Utah.) Daniel's Lake Lodge exceeded my expectations in every way. Our room with two twin beds was in the main building and I enjoyed the huge soaker tub in our private bath. Karen and Jim were both helpful and friendly. Jim built a big fire in the firepit so we could roast hot dogs and make s'mores. He and a very friendly guest helped my grandson achieve the desire of his heart: going fishing for trout. They got the poles ready, strung the lines and tied on the hooks. The guest even taught him how to cast and reel in. (I know nothing about fishing.) We took the paddle boat out easily twice and enjoyed the beauty and solitude of the lake. He loved feeding the ducks and geese; I enjoyed sitting by the water in the quiet hours before breakfast. Breakfast was easily and congenially made with the other 3 guests at the big house. If you really want your morning privacy I would advise getting a cabin, but we enjoyed the casual exchange...no pressures just quiet visiting while we each cooked our own food. (Milk, juice, coffee, eggs, reindeer sausage, toast, frozen waffles, cold cereal, oatmeal.) My grandson and I both hated to leave after one night. We could happily have stayed longer. (And it was a steal at $135.00) It's only about 5 minutes from the main road in Nikiski but felt a world away.…
First of all I want to let you know that I've traveled all over the world. I have stayed at extremely nice places and met very nice people in my many years of traveling. Karen & Jim, at Daniel Lake Lodge are the nicest and most wonderful people I have met in all my travels. When you first arrive you are met with this spectacular view of the lake. Your thinking to yourself, I am going to be living here for the next few days. Next you go in the main house and meet Karen as she greets you by name. Karen & Jim, take care of everything you need to have a special time at this little piece on heaven on earth. When we arrived to our cabin Karen made sure the we had all the food that was needed for a nice big breakfast including duck eggs (delicious) and rain deer sausage (more delicious). When we told Karen & Jim that we would like to use the fire pit to build a fire, the next thing I see is Jim off build this huge fire for us. I can not think of a better place to spend your time at than Daniels Lake Lodge. Daniels Lake Lodge is a fantastic place to spend you vacation in Kenai Alaska. I wish I could spend more time their!…
Stayed in the "Oldtimer" cabin for about one week in mid august and had the best time. We never felt like a customer, the hosts made us feel like family. The cabin was impeccably clean and comfortable with lots of privacy. We were about 50 ft. from the water which made for a great setting. We took advantage of the small motorized boat to go out and fish. We barely knew what we were doing but still caught trout by trolling. Very quiet, peaceful, absolutely beautiful location. We will return.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Check in was simple and easy - chatted to the owners for a while, who provided lots of info about their B&B and the local area. We stayed in the Hide away cabin, which was exactly that - quiet and peaceful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Daniels Lake Lodge. We don't fish, and Karen was so helpful with letting us know where to find neat rocks and scenery. Cabin was well equipped, comfortable, and loaded with breakfast food. Fresh eggs too!!
