My only negative about our stay here was that the mattress was overstuffed and not very comfortable. All of the people who worked here are very nice, the rooms are very close to some of the best fishing in the Kenai area, the rooms, restaurant and pizza/ice cream store were all very clean.
I live in Anchorage and have been going to, or using the Summit Lake Lodge for many, many years. Love the place. Great ice cream parlor next door. Great staff. Beautiful location. Highly recommend. Annually we have a large family camping trip at the Tenderfoot Creek Campground which on Summit Lake opposite from the lodge. Some of us older family members stay at the lodge instead of tent camping. We eat some meals at the lodge and I buy lots of ice cream for grandkids. We all love the place. Always had good experiences there.
Our "historic room" was rustic but nicer than expected and very clean. We loved the cabin feel and enjoyed walking down the campground road and by the lake. There isn't much in the immediate area (besides the Summit Creek Trail if you are hiking) but it was very peaceful and convenient for our stop traveling back to Anchorage from the Kenai. The lodge restaurant and ice cream parlor weren't cheap but the food was good and the room price was low (for Alaska in peak season) so it worked out to a good deal overall. Great breakfast at the lodge! Only complaint: the curtains were insufficient for summer in Alaska. A second layer with blackout curtains is needed because the room was pretty light even with the curtains drawn.
We booked a weekend at Summit Lake Lodge in Moose Pass, Ak for July 15-17 of 2022. We arrived at the Lodge on Friday night and were given our key to Cabin 17. It was a very cute 1 room cabin with 2 beds, it had as separate room for the toilet, separate room for shower with sink and also sink in other room. There was a TV, coffee pot with 2 cups, also a small refrigerator in the room and heat. We were given coupons for the complimentary breakfast for each morning, you were able to choose directly from the breakfast menu and the staff was friendly and attentive. We were also instructed that a complementary canoe or kayak were available. Unfortunately it rained while we were there, so we didn't take a canoe or kayak. It was right off the highway and was a perfect location to stay for our visits to Homer and Seward on the Kenai Peninsula. We had a great time and would highly recommend this Lodge to anyone planning to visit the Kenai Peninsula or wanting to get away for a few days. y…
We just finished a 4 night stay at this beautiful lodge. We stayed in one of the waterfront cabins and HIGHLY recommend booking one if you can. They look brand new and the attention to detail inside and out are some of the best we've ever seen. Summit Lake is beautiful - even in the rain. We woke to the calls of loons on our 1st morning and saw 2 different pair - one with 3 little ones. We also saw a merganser with 6 little ones. We had rain almost everyday and while we would have preferred the sun - we could hardly take our eyes away from the lake. The lodge has a nice restaurant and offers complementary made to order breakfast. There was a large selection and the portions were huge. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. The owners were always around and making sure we had what we needed. Brandon gave us some great suggestions for hikes and places to see wildlife. We cannot thank the owners enough for creating such a beautiful and welcoming place. We plan to return - but for a longer stay!…
Our first trip to Alaska and this as the perfect place to start it off! Very centrally located in Kenai to explore down to Seward and glaciers and to westerly peninsula. Stayed in a lake front cabin which has great porch overlooking lake, serene and astounding views of mountains, lake, forest, particularly in early morning (set up our spotting scope here to view mountains close and far with lots of bird life on lake). Room well appointed with very comfortable bed and furnishings along with sitting area in front of (electric) fireplace (great for relaxing, reading, or just enjoying a few moments). The bathroom was very modern with separate, doored toilet, two separate sink counters with lots of space and nice fixtures, separate, doored shower, with heated floors in spots! All in all, the room and bathroom were everything you'd expect in a first class hotel but with great frontier taste in a fantastically beautiful setting. Restaurant very, very good with broad selection of entrees you'd find in a big city first-class restaurant but with personable and fun service (our waitress's first Alaska venture as well, lots of fun to talk to, and very deserving of a big tip). Highly recommend for several nights to relax while venturing Kenai in the days. Front desk (we were met by the owner) easy to talk to, informative and helpful. Front lodge has wi-fi and comfortable living room-like lobby area by fireplace, easy to rest after that great meal before the four or five minute walk back to the serene cabin. Out of five accommodations over a couple of weeks in Alaska, definitely return here!…
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, peaceful location! Staff was friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and cooked to order! The rustic historic queen room beds were exceptionally comfortable. A fan was furnished for warm summer nights, which was the case during our one-night stay. Blackout curtains helped with the midnight sun. My only disappointment was that our stay was so short!
Amazing stop on our way to Seward. The Summit Lake Lodge was lovely! Clean and well kept we were thrilled with the amenities. Staff was friendly, helpful and conscientious. The surprise ability to kayak the lake was a bright spot! Breakfast was fabulous- and included in our stay. We were so happy we stayed here.
Historic Room on Road Side was a bit road dust smelling and small, but very comfortable. Would recommend one on the water side vs road side. Staff was great and had the beast breakfast of our trip there. Kayaked the lake which was fun and they stored my fish in the freezer overnight. In all, I would stay again. TY
My husband, 18 month old daughter and I stayed in the lake front cabin for a week and it was the best vacation we’ve ever taken! The cabin was newly remodeled, had great black out curtains, beautiful views and nice amenities (hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, mini bar, etc). The lodge is located in a great spot. It’s about an hour to Seward, hour to Whittier and half hour to coopers landing and close to the highway. They have a delicious restaurant, and ice cream parlor on site. There’s fishing in the lake with canoes and kayaks to take out. The staff is incredible and so kind! They set up a pack n play in the room for my daughter prior to our arrival and had great recommendations for hikes/things to do. The layout of the cabin is perfect and roomier than expected- the toilet is in a water closet, and there are 2 sinks- one near the shower and a second vanity open to the rest of the cabin. And for any other parents traveling with little ones, the pack n play does fit in the bathroom. We would absolutely come back here!…
