We recently took our family to Kodiak Island Resort and had a great time. The lodge is very nice and comfortable. Jessica the hostess took care of all of our needs while inside the lodge including serving unbelievable meals prepared to perfection by Chef Jeremy. The evening meals consisted of seafood bisque, salad, fresh seafood and homemade desserts. Our days on the water provided us with spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing, whale watching and the best fishing anyone could ever hope for. We limited out on halibut, salmon, yelloweye rockfish and also caught several large ling cod. We also put out a crab trap our first day fishing and caught 24 snow crabs on our third day. We had a great, all you can eat crab cookoff that night for our evening meal. Our boat crew Capt Jim and Capt Bobby took very good care of us keeping our hooks baited and assisting us when we hooked fish that fought harder than we expected. Overall, from the scenery, to the wildlife, to the fishing to the lodge and location I can't come close to explaining how great a trip this is. We highly recommend a trip to Kodiak Island Resort for anyone seeking a wilderness, fishing adventure.…
We just spent 4 days at the Kodiak Island Resort. Eight of us took over the entire lodge. What an awesome place. The people at the lodge were wonderful; Jessica was fantastic at keeping things organized and the chef, Jeremy, was top notch, making us gourmet meals three times a day. The two skippers, Bob and Jim had every fishing hole mapped out. We caught every kind of fish and the crab pots provided a great crab cookout for us. Allen, the owner is a character, very entertaining and larger than life. The lodge is perfectly located right next to the dock and boat launch. Both boats owned by the lodge were great. The lodge provides rain gear, including rubber boots for the boat. There is no cell coverage and only limited wifi. Larsen Bay is a bit of a challenge to get to, especially with Covid. If you charter a flight from Anchorage to Larsen Bay, as we did, keep in mind that there are weight restrictions. This wasn't an issue on the way in, but we caught so much fish, which created a problem on the way out. If you are catching a lot of fish during your trip, contact the charter company mid trip and they can pick up fish and store it for you in their freezer. I highly recommend the Kodiak Island Resort…
We've made more than a dozen fishing trips all over Alaska, but Alaska's Kodiak Island Resort at Larsen Bay was, hands down, the best. The accommodations were first rate, the staff was well trained and attentive and the food was five star. Most importantly the guides, boats and equipment were first rate. I've never seen guides that were as good at finding the fish. They worked hard for us and they did an incredible job of cleaning and vacuum sealing the fish. So far we haven't found a single bone! Overall it was a grand experience and I recommend Alaska's Kodiak Island Resort. There is no better way to experience Alaska!
This place is remarkable. Our group is already planning a return trip. The accommodations were very nice & very comfortable. The front porch over looking the harbor is breathtaking. We caught fish after fish and saw a lot of wildlife as well. The staff at the Kodiak Island Resort became friends. They worked hard to show us a good time and make sure we were well taken care of. The food was delicious, no one went hungry to say the least.
Location= Amazing, great view of the harbor. The lodge is very tired and in need of maintenance and repair. The staff did the best they could with what they had to work with. The fishing guides were amazing and had us on the fish constantly. The cook worked wonders with nothing. Each day when the fish were cleaned a person came from the kitchen to take fish from our catch to be prepared for the evening meal. Nice job of cutting corners on the cost of food. The second night was the highlight as we were served all the crab we could eat. Served in a garage, on a folding table with a tarp under it, paper plates, red solo cups and plastic forks. No melted butter or lemon and no side dish ONLY CRAB! As an additional perk the owner stood over the table watching us eat while his little dog ran around under it. Very sad. The owner Micro Managed the staff and the guest. Coasters under your drink, shoes off in the mud room, constant reminders to be punctual at meal times and fishing time. Very Relaxing With proper management this could be a wonderful place. As it is, it is a night mare. Many other lodges close by, choose one of those for a better vacation…
