There were 9 of us in our group and for the most part everything was top notch, food, accommodations and fishing.
A couple of things that rubbed me the wrong way were the packaging/shipping of the fish we caught.
Amazingly enough there were "exactly" 9 boxes of fish all at about 50 lbs.
We were told by the guys that clean and package the fish "everyone will receive the same number of each specie" or at least as close as they can make it come out, which is understandable.
We get home and some of us received 10 packages of Halibut some 23, we caught probably 15 Yellow Eye a couple of the guys got 0 and a couple received more than one, some guys got 4 Salmon while others got 10 packages in their box.
All of these individual fish packages were about the same size as far as weight so that had nothing to do with the discrepancies.
I guess the most frustrating part for me is you pay $1,000 plus per day to have a good time and get what you're told you'll receive, we're not even sure we received all of the fish we caught....somewhat disappointing.
The last day we came in from fishing our bills were on the kitchen counter, customized to our stay, we weren't able to fly in on Monday afternoon as originally payed/planned but were able to on Tuesday late morning and we got out fishing by noon. We didn't, however get the Monday evening meal or Tuesday breakfast, but still got charged a $5 "resort fee" for a night we weren't even there! Not a bank breaker, but when the bills are customized to "your" stay I think the proprietor could at least get that right, instead of having an error in "their" favor.

My wife and I just returned from a fantastic trip to Larsen Bay Lodge, AK. Mike & Tamarin treated us like family for a week. We enjoyed 5-star dinners with another group from Chicago. All daily fishing, bear trips, and float plane excursions went off flawlessly. We’re both +65 yrs but our guide TJ was patient, attentive, and quick to answer our questions about wildlife or the environment. No better way to learn about Alaska than to do it. My wife was apprehensive when mom and two cubs walk in while we were casting for salmon.
TJ kept the situation calm while I shot photos.
Folks- not sure what you’re waiting for, your not getting any younger. Time is short. Bet they still have some openings this year. The Silver run in August.

We had a family trip with three generations, it was one of those things in life that can’t be equaled. We are so glad that we did this while we were all able to enjoy this wonderful experience. The fish were great fun to catch, but the Kodak bears were so interesting to be around. Never dreamed we could have such a perfect trip. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was delicious. Mike Carlson, the owner, made sure that every guest was treated as the most important person present. We felt like royalty and everything, from planes, boats to fishing equipment to having the accommodations cleaned each day was nothing but “top shelf”!

My husband and I flew into Larsen Bay for two days of sockeye salmon fishing on the Dog Salmon River. Mike and Tamarin greeted us with drinks and snacks at the lodge. The room had a beautiful view of the bay and dinner was spectacular! T.J. guided us on the river the next two days and made sure we had everything we needed. (See photos.) Back at the lodge we were again treated like royalty-Chef Deb spoils everyone with fabulous meals. Her assistant Sabrina, helped us with all of our questions and requests. Even though Covid 19 made traveling challenging, the trip to Larsen Bay Lodge was truly a higfhlight of ou Alaska vacation.

This was an amazing experience. Fishing was fantastic. It was true outdoors by day and all the comforts of home at night. The lodge was comfortable, clean and private with a spectacular view. The food was first class and the service and attention from the staff was top notch. Mike and Tamarin made us feel like we were the most important guests on the property. We fished, hunted and kayaked during the day and were welcomed back with appetizers and a warm soak in the hot tub. Highly recommend this lodge for a beautiful outdoor experience.

Rooms were clean. The food was excellent. There was a good variety of fish and crab. The deserts were good. Gained 5 pounds on the trip. Mike was very accommodating to our needs and requests adjusting for weather and type of fishing.

WOW!!
When you see the raw beauty of Kodiak firsthand, your jaw just stays open the entire time!!
After travelling close to 16 hours, we were taken to our cabin where we collapsed in the spacious bed and had a very restful sleep. The next morning at breakfast, Mike came by and let us know that we would be the only ones fishing that day..Our first day, and we get the boat to ourselves!!
Then the fun began!!!
You never realize how much you are out of shape until you reel in fish after fish, after fish from 150-300ft deep! When trolling, as soon as that tip dips, you get that rush of adrenaline and the battle is on!
And then there's the bears!! We were blessed to be able to see these beautiful and, rather large, creatures up close and personal, in their environment.
Blessed for sure!!!
Mike, Tamarin and their staff are top notch all the way! We truly felt like we were part of the family during our stay.. I actually cried the day we left!
Everything...the food, guides, service, that glorious water pressure, was phenomenal!!
I could go on forever about how much fun we had during our stay at Larsen Bay!! Truly a trip to remember!!

My husband and I had a great time at Larsen Bay Lodge. We are already planning our next visit! Everything was perfect; the food, the lodging, the spectacular beauty of the area, great Sitka Blacktail hunting and incredible Sea Duck hunting. The owners, guides and staff were very professional and extremely kind, accommodating and knowledgeable.

Three of us went for 5 days for black tail deer and duck hunting. It was literally all I had hoped for. The staff and accommodations were great and the food was excellent. The boat captains dropped us off each morning and gave us advice on where to go and glass for deer- they were spot on. We saw deer every day and all came home with venison. Mike and Tamarin run a first class operation. All their staff were knowledgeable and super friendly. I will go again!

Mike and Tamarin where the most gracious hosts I have ever encountered. They have the greatest staff from top to bottom and the boat captains and river guides where absolutely the best I have ever encountered in the 40 years of fishing. The accommodations were also top notch. The food was if I was in a Michelin star restaurant. I will most certainly be back. I would encourage anyone who wishes to book an Alaskan fishing trip to contact Mike or Tamarin.
