Three of us went for 5 days for black tail deer and duck hunting. It was literally all I had hoped for. The staff and accommodations were great and the food was excellent. The boat captains dropped us off each morning and gave us advice on where to go and glass for deer- they were spot on. We saw deer every day and all came home with venison. Mike and Tamarin run a first class operation. All their staff were knowledgeable and super friendly. I will go again!
Great experience. Hunting was phenomenal, accommodations were second to none, and the lodge was fantastic. Food was great as well. My wife and I had the time of our lives and we can’t wait to come back next year.
My husband and I had a great time at Larsen Bay Lodge. We are already planning our next visit! Everything was perfect; the food, the lodging, the spectacular beauty of the area, great Sitka Blacktail hunting and incredible Sea Duck hunting. The owners, guides and staff were very professional and extremely kind, accommodating and knowledgeable.
There were 9 of us in our group and for the most part everything was top notch, food, accommodations and fishing. A couple of things that rubbed me the wrong way were the packaging/shipping of the fish we caught. Amazingly enough there were "exactly" 9 boxes of fish all at about 50 lbs. We were told by the guys that clean and package the fish "everyone will receive the same number of each specie" or at least as close as they can make it come out, which is understandable. We get home and some of us received 10 packages of Halibut some 23, we caught probably 15 Yellow Eye a couple of the guys got 0 and a couple received more than one, some guys got 4 Salmon while others got 10 packages in their box. All of these individual fish packages were about the same size as far as weight so that had nothing to do with the discrepancies. I guess the most frustrating part for me is you pay $1,000 plus per day to have a good time and get what you're told you'll receive, we're not even sure we received all of the fish we caught....somewhat disappointing. The last day we came in from fishing our bills were on the kitchen counter, customized to our stay, we weren't able to fly in on Monday afternoon as originally payed/planned but were able to on Tuesday late morning and we got out fishing by noon. We didn't, however get the Monday evening meal or Tuesday breakfast, but still got charged a $5 "resort fee" for a night we weren't even there! Not a bank breaker, but when the bills are customized to "your" stay I think the proprietor could at least get that right, instead of having an error in "their" favor.…
Unbelievable! The whole experience exceeded my expectations. First, the staff at Larsen Bay was top notch. ALL of them were friendly and welcoming. The lodging and food was phenomenal. All of us 8 agreed it was one of the best weeks of eating we ever had. The weather was great all week. I really enjoyed the variety of fishing, we would alternate between the ocean and the rivers. Caught a TON of fish. Saw bears, fin whales, killer whales, porpoises, otters, deer. I can’t say enough about this place. I will be back!
Larsen Bay Lodge comes through on all of their advertisements! Flying in to fish at a permit only lake while watching bears in their own habitat was magical and adventurous. Mike and the staff were always there to accommodate all of our needs. Fishing was phenomenal and getting to encounter so many aspects of Alaskan wild life were amazing: sea lions, sea otters, orca whales, eagles, and puffins. The food was spot on every meal. I don’t eat seafood, and they always had an alternative for me. Doug Lowery/Missy
This is my 4th trip to the Larsen Bay lodge, but first time in September. The times before have all been very successful trips and this one was no exception! Tons of fish up the rivers as well as out in the bay. Weather was very good as well(but that is just lucky). Beside the great fishing, the lodge, staff and set up are some of the best in Alaska. The scenery is amazing, especially when hiking up to fish and so much wildlife. Highly recommend this to be checked off your fishing bucket list!
Rooms were clean. The food was excellent. There was a good variety of fish and crab. The deserts were good. Gained 5 pounds on the trip. Mike was very accommodating to our needs and requests adjusting for weather and type of fishing.
I think the title and rating says it all. Enjoy! You will enjoy the accommodations, the staff, the guides, and Mike/Tamarin makes sure your stay is 5 stars. I will be back because it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had!
This was an amazing experience. Fishing was fantastic. It was true outdoors by day and all the comforts of home at night. The lodge was comfortable, clean and private with a spectacular view. The food was first class and the service and attention from the staff was top notch. Mike and Tamarin made us feel like we were the most important guests on the property. We fished, hunted and kayaked during the day and were welcomed back with appetizers and a warm soak in the hot tub. Highly recommend this lodge for a beautiful outdoor experience.
