Detailed Reviews
This place was 1st class. I have stayed at other fishing lodges before and they have all been good, but Jeff, Nadra, and McKinley took my visit one step further. The 3 of them and their whole staff were super friendly and always looking for some way to make your trip better.
The rooms rooms were clean and well stocked with all of out needs. They were willing to give us tips and guidance to help us catch a lot of fish. The boats were all outfitted well and the equipment very well maintained except a few little repairs (which is expected in the salt water environment), which they fixed immediately as soon as we brought it to their attention.
Their vans were waiting for us at the airport when we arrived and after stopping at the store for some groceries we were on the water the afternoon we arrived.
When we left, the fish was all vacuum packaged, frozen and put into insulated boxes for the ride home. When my flight arrived home 9 hours later, the fish was still frozen as solid as when we left’
A great experience and i would do it again.

We had an amazing time at Chinook Shores in June of 2021. Everything was taken care of for us....the staff was incredible. We fished 12 hr. days, brought our catch back to the doc and the staff processed our fish and put it on ice for us. They even boiled some crab we caught and we ate it 30 min. after pulling it out of the water. It was pretty sweet. We enjoyed talking with all of the kids on staff, they were very personable and knowledgeable.
The best day on the water was when we hired a private guide. We caught more fish that day than any other day, and learned some tools that we used the days following. I would highly recommend getting a guide for your first long day on the water for that reason.
We realized after booking our trip that June may not have been the busiest time of year for catching fish. It sounds like late July/early August there are a lot more species in the water, and you spend more time reeling them in than sitting around waiting, which is something we became very comfortable with. Needless to say our group left with 100 lbs. of fish and stories for years.
The lodging was perfect for our group of 6. Basic, but comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook. Each couple took turns cooking dinner and it made it a pretty stress-free experience. The views from the lodge are hard to beat. We played cards and laughed until the sun set around 10:00pm every night.
I would absolutely return to Chinook Shores for another Alaska fishing trip!

This was my first time in Alaska and we were blessed with hospitality and great weather! Jeff and his team were amazing! Our lodge was clean, and had the perfect waterfront view. A crew member would meet us every morning and outfit our boat with everything we needed for a successful fishing day. They provided tips on where to go for weather and to catch the most fish! I cannot stress enough how nice everyone was. My husband and I will be making this an annual trip!

The lodging accommodations were superb, homey and comfortable. The boat and related equipment were second to none, as was the information on where the fish might be found. The picturesque view from our deck was over and above expectations. A family of Bald Eagles treated us to a visit every evening. And to top it off, the staff was incredible. Friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful in every way. Chinook Shores Lodge is the best of the best, bar none. This was our second trip and WE'RE GOING BACK!

Nadra and Jeff have a great place to come relax and catch salmon and halibut. The self guided fishing lets us do what we want when we want. The living quarters are very nice, modern and clean. The facilities, boats and fishing equipment are all top notch and everything you will need to have a great time.

3rd fishing trip to Ketchikan, 1st stay at Chinook Shores Lodge. My wife & stayed in the apartment. It was...EXCELLENT! Very well equipped, spacious (for 2), exceptionally clean, and somewhat isolated from rest of Chinook Shores Lodge. Boats were top notch, and well-equipped for safety and fishing. Boat's hard top had optional rain curtain (we did not use). Another really appreciated feature of our boat was the aft auxillary steering wheel. With only 2 of us on board this permitted us to steer while fighting / landing fish. The fishing gear was top notch and in great condition. They even had LH reels for us. (*We were there during the August 2024 horrible rainy/windy day that culminated in the tragic Ketchikan land slide.) Owners Jeff & Nadra kept us informed and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. Salmon fishing ("catching") was as good as ever. In our opinion, downrigger trolling is easier than flasher w/diver. We did the self-guided gig. We enjoyed the sea lions up close at fish cleaning dock and saw an orca whale near the lodge as well as Dall's porpoise. Highly recommend Chinook Shores Lodge as an option for couples.

We had a terrific time during our stay at Chinook Shores on 7/24/21-7/28/21. The accommodations were very comfortable, the boat and the fishing gear were excellent and your staff was friendly, helpful and incredibly hardworking. You run a fantastic operation. I would highly recommend Chinook Shores to anyone. See you again next year!

This was our first time at Chinook shores but definitely not our last. We had a company fishing trip here on the recommendation of a friend and absolutely had a blast. All the staff was friendly and very accommodating to a bunch of rookie fishermen. The lodge was perfect for our group with full kitchen and washer dryer. We are already trying to figure out when we want to go again.
