It's hard to describe how perfect our visit was to Silverking Lodge, but I’ll try. From the moment Jeremy picked us up at the dock, my dad, who was so closed off after his primary progressive aphasia diagnosis, turned into a little kid before my very eyes. The scenery is unparalleled and the people who run the lodge are second to none. The lodge accommodations were very comfortable and the fact that I could let dad wander a bit without worry, was incredible. He loved wandering around the deck, watching the deer, and even made the dock his second home. He took up with Micah and Jake so much that one day toward the end of the week, he grabbed a boat oar and started cleaning the sea kelp off the boat launchers just because he wanted to help. I got to know Kaitlyn, Lauren, and MacKenzie during those times, and those three girls are an absolute delight. I had asked for the perfect fishing guide, and you couldn’t have found anyone better than Axel Svenson. He took up with dad, was incredibly patient with him, and had us limited out all three days we fished with him. Even when the water got rough, he had dad laughing. We had the best experience. The man knows the area like the back of his hand, but above all that, he’s a genuinely nice guy who cares about his customers. We felt he was part of the family after spending three days straight with him. I can’t brag on him enough. Chef Brad was phenomenal. We informed him early on that I was allergic to celery, so he made sure there was none on the menu the entire week. What he didn’t know is that I don’t ever get to eat soup, because so many people put celery in it, and he always made soup of the day. I got my soup fix at Silverking. In fact, I could probably be seen walking around with a paper coffee cup... it wasn't coffee. It was soup. When we ran out of fishing days, Jake told us about Naha Bay and the nature walk and lagoon. So, I grabbed a skiff and drove dad up for a little day excursion. Jake made sure I had Navionics on my phone, so I wouldn’t get lost in the unfamiliar landscape, and he, Lauren, and Kaitlyn told me about visual aids to guide me. It was a wonderful way to spend the day and dad is still talking about the size of the leaves on those monstrous trees. By the end of the trip, my dad was laughing, smiling, and talking more than I had seen him do in a decade or more. No price could ever be put on that. Nothing but the best of experiences could have made that happen. Silverking did that and I can never thank them enough.…
A group of us went to Silverking Lodge in July 2022. This was by far one of the most amazing trips / experiences I have ever had. Our group of six caught about 1200 lbs of fish from Tuesday to Saturday. We saw whales, eagles, and sea lions. More importantly, the staff at Silverking was phenomenal. They took care of everything! Jermey gave a master class in fishing and Brad's food was better than five star resorts I have been to in the past. I would highly recommend this lodge and will 100% be back some day.
We took an excursion from Ketchikan called Alaskan lodge adventure and sea fest. This took us to Silver King Lodge. It was beyond amazing. First we’re the tame deer as we got off the boat, next we’re the unique carvings done by Cain saw. We then were taken on a tour into the rain Forrest by a young guide (Dorian) she was incredibly knowledgeable of the entire trail. Worth the trip alone. The finale was boiled Dungeness crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, sausage, small potatoes & onions. Poured out on the middle of the table for 7 of us to eat. It was perfect. Oh & by the way before we went in the boat to the lodge, the captain of the boat threw mackerel into the sea so we could watch the eagles come in close up & personal to fetch the mackerel right out of the sea. Fabulous day.
We were part of a trip from a cruise ship to view Bald Eagles and enjoy a lovely shellfish meal. Admittedly we were a little sceptical of seeing any Bald Eagles but were we pleasantly surprised. A fantastic time was had, even though short, we could not believe how close the eagles came. We are unable to review the accommodation as we were only there a few hours but the hospitality was so, so brilliant.
We visited the lodge as part of a shore excursion while sailing on a cruise ship. The forest around the lodge was incredible (be sure to take a really deep breath - it is so fresh) and the seafood feast was excellent. We had a chance to speak with the head chef and I would love to spend some time there at the Lodge as I'm sure it would be lovely. Great trip!
We took this shore excursion on our cruise on Majestic Princess. An entertaining bus ride of about 20 minutes bought us to the dock. There was light rain falling, but the jet boat was enclosed. The eagles on Eagle Island were roosting on a tree top on the far side of the island. After a 20 minute boat we arrived on the island that Silverking Lodge is locate. The feast was boiled in large pots and dumped out on the middle of the table. Crab, shrimp, clam, corn on the cob, sausages, potatoes and other items came out of the pot. Chicken was also available. A boat and bus rides brought us back to Ketchikan. I very enjoyable, low key excursion.
Been going to this lodge since 1989. This year we took twelve couples and had the time of our lives. Great fishing? Yes!!!, But that is only part of what makes this place special. Beach-combing, flight-seeing over Misty Fjords, bear watching, whale watching, hiking, exploring, nature trails, and oh....did I mention the food!!! (Thanks Brad) Amazing place and amazing people make this one of the best memory making destinations that you could ever experience.
What a beautiful place and the people are so incredibly wonderful! The lodge is super clean and the views of mountains, water and wildlife will never be forgotten. I would recommend if your visiting Ketchikan that you make this a destination
WOW! This was my first fishing excursion experience ever and it didn't disappoint AT ALL! First off, the staff is unbelievably friendly and they make the guests feel right at home. The fishing was phenomenal! We caught a wide variety of species of fish. The only downside was the silver king fish weren’t keepable as per the Fish and Game of Alaska. Which is no fault of Silver King Lodge. The food was crazy good. Brad the cook, and his helpers do an out of the ball park job with the food. It’s home cookin’ and it’s delicious. Jeremy was very accommodating and makes every effort to make it a positive experience for you. I would recommend this place to anyone, 100 times over.
Been here 3 times an I keep coming back to fish an because of the people that run this lodge .. Once again Great success on fishing on your own, self guided fishing ...Excellent food, great employees , nice accommodation.... A few days it did rain an they do have rain gear an boots, so it wasn't bad at all....
