Dated motel, but fine for a nights stay. It was clean and beds were good. No elevator. Shower did not work. Claimed it at the reception who told us relocating was not an option, nobody in house to solve the problem, sorry. After getting agitated and threatening to leave suddenly there was another room available. Didn't like that, we should have been helped immediately and not just after getting mad.

Our room was small but quite nice. This is an older hotel, but very well maintained. The woodwork and tile were beautiful. There were a few minor issues. The toilet and shower head could use some work. Our room was very comfortable and had a refrigerator and microwave. Staff were very pleasant, prices reasonable, and the adjoining restaurant Louie's) is very good.

The young lady at the heck in counter was extremely rude and disrespectful. We were delayed getting to our hotel by about 15 hours due to a landslide. Called ahead to let them know we would be delayed and they said no problem they would hold the room. Upon arrival they had given the room to someone else. The room had been reserved and paid for thru our travel program. We had a confirmation number. The lady said she had no record of it in her computer and wanted to charge for another room above and beyond what had already been. We left and went to the Aspen hotel. IT WAS WAAY BETTER AND WAAAAY NICER. Highly recommend the ASPEN Hotel.

The hotel is super dated with a sink in the bedroom(!?) and toilet and shower in a separate room which is poorly lit. Decor is very ugly. They give you one room key (not a key card) which is kind of inconvenient if there are two guests who aren’t necessarily together the entire visit. We go to watch TV and found no batteries in our remote. We went to the front desk and asked if they had any batteries. The girl just said, “No”. Didn’t offer to FIND any batteries or didn’t say she’d get batteries from another room. Totally acted like she could care less. The next day my husband went back to the front desk and was told the clerk would buy batteries that day and to stop back later. He did so, but the same girl was there from the previous night. He asked if the other girl bought batteries. She said no, the other clerk forgot. Shrugged and again didn’t offer to fix the remote or help us. I needed an iron (no irons or ironing board in our room) and went to ask her if there was an iron I could use. She just said “No”. I asked if there was really no iron at all, and didn’t other guests ask for irons in the past? She yes others had asked & that she had looked before, so she personally knew they had no iron. Ok, so if someone had asked before (I’m assuming more than one person has asked in all the years they’ve been in business), and they never bought ONE iron for people to use, there is something major wrong with their idea of customer service! I realize we are in a small town in Alaska, so maybe they are used to fishermen or people who don’t care about watching TVs or ironed clothes, but still! Two minor things would have made our stay a lot better.

When traveling around the Kenai Pennisula, you have a lot of activities in which you can partake, the result of which is you getting pretty tired. While in the area this last month my friends and I were able to stop and relax a bit, and recharge our batteries. We did this by staying at the Uptown Motel. This property is a small 2 story motel a short walk from a bluff that overlooks the mouth of the Kenai River. The rooms are nicely furnished, there are Kurig coffee makers in the room, a restaurant right off the lobby and a lounge in the next building over. The only complaint I would have would be the confusing controls for the shower. You have one control for the flow of the water, another for the temperature, and then to turn on the shower you need to pull down on a ring on the tub faucet spout. While not difficult once you figure it out, it can potentially take a few minutes to figure it out. The staff is top notch and very attentive, whether you need a new towel or directions to a close tourist site. I would recommend checking this place out when you're tired and need a day to rest up.

Found Uptown Motel by accident and am surprised at how nice it is for not being a "big name " motel. Nice people, nice rooms, nice parking lot, Good price for the quality of the room. No unnecessary bells and whistles just a good nights sleep with a little TV time to relax.

I've stayed at this place many times over the years, so it's finally time to write a review.. there are so many big chain hotels in Kenai, but if you want to stay at an Alaskan place- go here! This place screams Alaska! From the taxidermy all over the place, to a rustic charming old place, to the noisy bar where locals hang out, this place is Alaska- so stay here if you actually want to stay at an Alaskan place- not just some other big chain hotel that is the same in Indianapolis, or Miami. Just stay here if you are in for some Alaska.
