#6 of 19 Specialty lodging in Kenai
An Uncommon Alaska Vacation Lodge with a Unique PhilosophyAlaska Hooksetters is “not your typical Alaska fishing lodge offering your typical Alaska fishing packages at your typical Alaska trip prices.”Why? Because three businessmen joined together a few years ago to create a Kenai Alaska venue and environment that welcomestheir friends and family to a “home away from home” Alaska Vacation on the Kenai Peninsula;fishermen of all ages and skills, and non-fishermen alike….even if they are traveling together; couples looking to truly experience an Alaska Vacation on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula; families on an Alaska Vacation who may not want a full week of non-stop Alaska fishing charters;companies looking for a great Alaska retreat, event or incentive. Our philosophy and perspective is different. Alaska Hooksetters Lodge wants to build memories. Surely a 70lb king salmon, a 300lb halibut or a 10lb rainbow will do that. But so will sharing stories around a covered fire pit or walking the gray soft sand beach near the mouth of the mighty Kenai River. What could be more memorable than a hike along a river or through a lush landscape taking photos of the wildlife; a grizzly bear and her cubs, a moose and her newborn calves, or an eagle soaring above the trees. As the years pass us by, the fondest recollections of your Alaska vacation may be the solitude of your surroundings, the call of the loon, the magnificent and breathtaking mountains where they rise from Cook Inlet, or the fabulous Midnight Sun.

My dad and I stayed at Alaska Hooksetters this August, and the service as well as fishing was excellent. If you want to have an amazing fishing trip in Alaska without worrying about where to fish or get your next meal this is the place to go. The lodges themselves are clean and comfortable it is easy to get a good night's sleep. The food is amazing, I was especially impressed with the to put you on the fish. I fished for silvers on the Kenai and Kasilof, and Halibut out of homer. Everyday the guides went out of their way to ensure we went home with some really nice fish. Overall I was extremely impressed Alaska Hooksetters and Russell Fishing they exceeded my expectations, I will be returning to Alaska and it will be with Alaska Hooksetters and Russell Fishing.

Went back to Hooksetters with a buddy and used Russell fishing to plan 6 days including 2 salt with one mixed species, two flyins (Kustatan and Chuit rivers) and one Kenai and one Kasilof. Food at Hooksetters was great as always as was the accommodations as we stayed in the basement of the main lodge this time. Glenn, Karen, Karmyn, Heather made things great!!! There are a lot of options but it does not get much easier or nicer with Hooksetters and Russell Fishing. I will post separately for Russell and Alaska West Airlines but I would not use another guide service as these guys know great service, setting expectations, and continued follow up

First time trip to Alaska for my brother and Hooksetters made it a trip of his lifetime. Dinners were better than advertised, the fishing out of this world and of course all of the staff were great in making us feel like royally!

My dad, Kipp, my uncle, David, and I just returned from an amazing trip at Hooksetters with Russell Fishing. Out of 5 stars, I'd give them a 10! They more than exceeded our expectations of our first trip to Alaska fishing. We've done some guided fishing trips before and the guides with Hooksetters are top notch! They're friendly, knowledgeable, and put you right on the fish. We limited out almost every day and even if we didn't, we had an outstanding day fishing and talking with the guides - learning about the local area and ecology. I'd be remiss without talking about the food - oh gosh! I'm a big foodie and I planned on having standard fare for dinner each night. I was so wrong! Every night we had a meal I could have easily spent lots of $$$ on in a high-quality restaurant. Halibut, salmon, seafood linguine, tenderloin - with the best desserts also. Including strawberry-rhubarb crisp, my dad's favorite. The highlight of the evening, though, was sitting around the campfire sharing fishing stories with Glenn and all the other guests. We also saw a lot of animals including an almost nightly walk-through of Moose. I thought this was a once in a lifetime trip - but now we are already planning another visit back to Hooksetters. Once is just not enough!
