Detailed Reviews
Perfect location for a great Alaskan vacation. The lodge itself is located outside of town well away from any traffic or congestion. The guides that the lodge use are extremely professional and really made the trip and unforgettable adventure. Terry makes sure that you get the vacation experience you desire as he goes out of his way to ensure you are able to chose the trips you are interested in. For example we chose separate trips consisting of deep sea fishing, King Salmon, trout, a fishing/bear watching float plane fly -in. Each trip was outstanding and I really don"t think I could pick a 'best' if you asked me. The lodge and grounds are clean and isolated from traffic. You are able to customize all your trips as well as your stay as you can chose to cook your own meals or have the lodge prepare them for you. We elected to have the Lodge prepare of dinners and each meal was outstanding. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, I highly recommend you have them prepare your meals as the food was great and made for a nice end to a long rewarding day. Overall I ican"t say enough about how much I enjoyed staying at the lodge and cant wait to find time to return in the future.

This is the Place!!!
I just returned from a once in a lifetime Alaska trip, with Chuck Reed of Kentucky Wounded Heroes. Everything was unbelievably beautiful and indescribable. Our group fished and toured Alaska for two weeks.
KWH was able to stay at Salmon Catcher Lodge in Kenai. I was astonished with the amenities. Salmon Catcher Lodge is owned by Terry Johnson. Salmon Catcher Lodge boast big spacious log lodging on a campus size area. The lodges are set up for several guests. The lodge I stayed in, was clean, spacious and had any amenity you could ask for. Eight people stayed in this spacious lodge, but it could of easily handled more. I was very impressed when I visited the Salmon Cather’s spacious gym facilities. Sauna, jacuzzi, massage chairs, weights and exercise equipment was clean, sanitized and new.
Kentucky Wounded Heroes, just wanted to say thanks to Terry and all the good people at Salmon Catcher Lodge, for an unbelievably great stay. I can never properly express our gratitude. Thank You Friends!
I would encourage anyone wanting to stay in Kenai or surrounding areas, to look at Salmon Catcher Lodge first. Nothing else will measure up to this place!

Our experience will be one of the most memorable trips of a lifetime! Terry planned our excursions perfectly and each trip was unforgettable. The day trips themselves were so well planned, and unique that it was difficult to choose a favorite. Each fishing trip in itself could have been a vacation in itself. The guides for the fishing trips were the BEST!! Each day brought a new adventure with the most pristine scenery and amazing views. All the guides were friendly and so much fun to be around. They were knowledgeable and very experienced making the novice fisherman feel confident. We chose 4 different trips, and each one was amazing. I highly recommend having Terry set up your trips, as his guides make the trip stress free so all you do is enjoy the adventures.
Terry's staff was amazing!! We fixed our own breakfast and lunches, and had dinner prepared for us. This was the perfect end to our daily trips. Terry's wife made sure our meals were perfect, and even helped us celebrate a birthday by buying flowers, birthday presents, and decorating. Angie was kind enough to prepare separate meals as I have dietary restrictions.
The lodge itself was picturesque and perfect! It is located close enough to Soldotna to grocery shop with a good selection of stores and off the busy road to provide quiet relaxation. The hot tub was a nice ending to a busy day. All in all, this vacation was the trip of a lifetime, and one that won't be forgotten. We would never have been able to have this without Terry and the Salmon Catcher Lodge!

Salmon Catcher Lodge is a beautiful place with great service, they were there to take care of us. We had the dinner package for 4 days, it was outstanding, and we always had two items to choose from, even if you have a special requests/dietary restriction. The log cabins where beautiful and clean with all amenities such as washer/dryer, dishwasher and all utensils. They have a hot tub, sauna, and work out room in a separate building.
We did 4 fishing trips and when we returned with the fish, Terry’s family cut it into portion size pieces, vacuum sealed, froze and stored the fish for us. When we were ready to leave, Terry supplied insulated boxes for us to transport our fish home. Terry was the right person to schedule our trips, he knew who to use and how to schedule our trips so we would get the most of our stay in Alaska. If waders or fishing rods are needed, don’t worry, Terry has inventory to choose from, at no charge.
Every guide was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and put us on fish.
Day 1 - Jeanine and Chuck for Halibut and Rock Fish
Day 2 – Dustin and Keegan for Salmon on the Kasilof River
Day 3 – Drew and Dave (Fishing Guides) Mark and Greg (Pilots) for Fly in Fishing for Salmon and Wildlife viewing.
Day 4 – Andrew and Adam for Trout and Salmon drifting down the Kenai River
Terry, thanks for the outstanding trip and great memories

I would not recomment this place. You can find better. The owner, Terry, that runs the lodge has poor customer service and communication skills. We felt very unwelcome when we checked in, like we were an inconvenience. Also, he quoted us a price for a fishing trip and then suddenly said it was more money when it was time to pay. It may have been a miscommunication, but his attitude came off very poorly. Poor customer service. The lodge and rooms itself are nice. His mother in law was very nice to us. Again, do not recommend staying here!

This was a great experience. I have never done a “Fishing Trip” and I cannot express how great this place was.
First of all I met Terry at the Phoenix Barrett Jackson show. Such a nice guy and he explained how everything worked. I got a group of guys together and booked a 5 day 4 night stay.
The fishing was awesome. The guides they choose for us were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We caught over 200lbs of fish!
The food at Salmon Catcher Lodge was superb. There chefs and kitchen staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had packed lunches for our fishing trips, and if needed hot grab and go breakfasts for our early morning guided trips. Dinners were like at a 5 star restaurant. From the salads to the deserts everything was great.
Terry’s wife Angie was great very sweet and helpful from the booking process, fishing tour set up to check out. Nick and his wife were great as well.
The cabins were great and head everything we needed and have the true “lodge” feel
I would highly recommend Salmon Catcher Lodge. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Fantastic lodge and fishing trips. Whatever Alaskan experience you want, Salmon Catcher will help you plan it. For us two halibut, two river side sockeye trips, and a fly out sockeye and bear viewing trip. Excellent meals with other lodgers, sit around campfire afterwards.

We ended up cancelling last minute, late at night, for a 3 night stay at a very unclean, unsatisfactory rental. We needed two rooms (for 2 couples)! Called Salmon Catcher Lodge and Terry was so helpful: he was busy, and it was the end of a long day, yet he figured it out for our 3 nights, and we are so glad he did! Risa was also a gem in helping us get settled into our cabins.. This property was great! Clean, cozy, conveniently located, and they even processed your fish for shipping home! The cabins we both ended up with were roomy, and clean! It was a wonderful find and a lifesaver! Needless to say, we will return whenever we can! Thank you so much!!!

We had first class meals with breakfast each morning before our fishing trips, packed lunches and 5 ⭐️ dinners! The lodging accommodations were comfortable, clean, cozy and private.
The fishing trips they booked for us were outstanding! A few of our trips had some minor hiccups but Gloria was on the phone each time revising our itenerary so we didn’t miss out on any fishing days!!
All the staff at the lodge were kind and helpful! I would definitely recommend staying with Salmon Catcher and letting them help plan your stay!!

We spent six days at the Salmon Catcher Lodge and they exceeded ALL of our expectations! We fished for salmon and halibut for four days, took a fly out to fish and see bears (HIGHLY recommend) and even added an extra day because we loved SCL so much! The lodge itself was a rustic oasis, blending comfort with the beautiful wildlife and luxury. Our room was cozy and clean, offering stunning views, featuring a mama moose and her baby!
Gloria and Justin, the owners, provided impeccable service with warmth and genuine hospitality. Their attention to detail ensured every need was met, from providing specific details about our guided fishing trips to ensuring our comfort throughout our stay. Gloria and Justin made our fishing trips easy and effortless as they did all the footwork! As well as the fish processing service that they offer on site which was professional and efficient, ensuring our catches were expertly prepared for transport home.
The food was a highlight, as each meal was fantastic! From delicious breakfasts before fishing to gourmet dinners, every dish exceeded our expectations. Brian, the chef was so accommodating and really put so much thought into each meal!
Without hesitation, we would recommend Salmon Catcher Lodge to anyone seeking a perfect blend of wilderness adventure, fantastic fishing, and luxury in Alaska!
