We have been looking at Kaktovik for over 5 years and always wondered about comfortable stay and food especially because we have food allergies. We found this place and were very pleased by the way Tim took care of us. The food was brilliant with good variety and he made vegan food for us which made our stay even more comfortable. Without it we would have really struggled. We deeply appreciate his efforts to make our stay comfortable. The place has private rooms as well as private rooms only with shared bath. Book early as they sell off quickly. The rooms were very clean and maintained really well.
Arriving at Kaktovik we were picked up and taken to Marsh Creek where we met Tim who runs the Inn. From the moment we arrived we were treated like valued friends. Tim, Matt and Tim's wife basically run everything. They are the last ones to bed and the first ones up to serve you breakfast in the morning. They know your name the moment you get there. They are happy to help you with any of your needs. After viewing you come in and have a wonderful meal prepared for you with the best desserts. If you are late getting in they have a plate of food waiting for you. It is a little rustic but the beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. Ours had two single beds and a table in between. Outside the dinning area there is a seating area where you can watch TV or visit. There was a TV in our room with limited channels. Location is great. When we left we felt like we were leaving family. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back!!…
I give the place 5 stars, great food, good cook, friendly, The place is well heated and the staff are efficient and friendly, This manager knows his business and is also very friendly and helpful It is well located and easy to access the town. Good food, healthy and efficient,.
While traveling to Kaktovik for a polar bear tour, our tour company chose this as home base for a few days. From what I saw, this is the best place to stay since this facility has rooms with private bath. The other place in town has shared bathrooms. We appreciated our guide choosing this location in our behalf. The food was amazing and Tim, the manager goes the extra mile. Food was fabulous and you will NOT go hungry here! Thanks Tim and crew! You guys rock!
Arrived Sept 28th and stayed 3 nights, leaving Oct 1st. Great place to stay; not fancy but so comfortable, casual and laid back. Tim and his crew work hard to see that everyone is comfortable and is taken care of. Tasty food. They see that you're fed, even if your bear tours run past the meal times. The cafeteria is a great place to meet, socialize, and share photos and pointers. Wifi quality depends on work load (usage) so it varies, but fairly certain you can't find it better anywhere else. Remember..., you're in the Artic Ocean at 70 degrees latitude. Looking forward to staying there again. Everyone is so friendlly!! Randy
