Your basecamp to adventure featuring RV and campground sites near the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Alaska! Travel in your own RV or enjoy one of our standard or deluxe tent camping sites. Sites have complimentary Wi-Fi, Cable TV, and access to laundry and shower facilities.
This is one of the nicer RV parks I've stayed at. The laundry rooms and showers/restrooms are open 24 hours and cleaned daily. The showers are not pay-showers which is a nice plus. A lot of the RVs are longer-term stays - I had no issues with noise or anything the entire month I was there. They offer coffee, books, dvds, popcorn, etc in the office. They also have recycling which is great. It's located right next to a lot of trails and glacier hikes which I took advantage of.

Google maps and Glacier Nalu Campgroung Resort's website allowed me to make the best choice for me regarding camping. I was a solo camper and I needed safety and comfort. The location is ideal to hike the West Glacier Trailhead, only five minutes away. The Ferry terminal is also five minutes away ( Haines, Skagway )

We flew into Juneau and didn’t want to stay in a hotel. We wanted a camping experience and we found it here staying in one of the glamping tents. Great set up, all the bedding was provided. They also have laundry and showers available 24/7, and complimentary coffee. A great place to stay in Juneau

This park advertises as a "Home away from Home" but on entering the park you drive through large potholes full of water (after rain), it is up to 250 yards to walk to the bathrooms, and the Wi Fi seems to be mainly for the permanents - it is very poor or no service at all for where the tourists are allocated. The advert says the campground is 3.8 miles from the ferry but does not say it is approx 14 miles from downtown Juneau. The lady in the office was very helpful and informative on local attractions. The sites are level and a good size. The Tongass National Forest campground is about a mile away with full service for RVs but does not have cable or Wi Fi. and is $8 cheaper. It is fully paved with lots of walking trails and overlooks the Mendenhall Glacier. We paid $37 per night and stayed in a Fifth Wheel.

Very, Very friendly staff. Corrinna was wonderful.
Extremely helpful with information in what to do while in Juneau.
Washrooms were spotless.
It is a fair way from downtown Juneau but the bus stop is right out the front and drops you right in town or at many local attractions. eg Glacier Gardens

Corinne was the perfect host! The bathrooms are so clean and well supplied! There was soap, lotion, and all the things you'd find at home! We had trouble with our RV three-way fridge....Corinna called a personal friend at the gas company to help us! She is a wealth of information about the area...showing us where to park and how to avoid all the crowds of Juneau! The park is well kept with private spots. A good place to base your travels around Juneau....much nicer than the National Park. Good internet and laundry facilities.

My rating would be 5 for short-term guests and 3 for long-term guests. The campground is in a great location near the glacier and not far from the ferry terminal. About 20-25 minutes to downtown. Friendly staff. Well-kept grounds. Utilities work great. Several nice areas to just hang out. The reason I give 3 for long-term guests mostly revolves around their punitive fine for owning a washing machine. I was fined $40 per month just for owning a washing machine. As a single RVer, I use half of the water that a couple would use. Even adding in the 35 or so gallons to do laundry once a week, I would still use significantly LESS than a couple without a washing machine. Yet I had to pay significantly more. My pleas for logic fell on deaf ears. There are also a few annoyances for long-term guests. The park refuses to allow mail to be forwarded to the park. They expect guests to mow weeds. They also send out nastygrams if you exceed the 5mph speed limit by one. But again, short-term guests should enjoy their stay.

Response from Glacier N, Front Office Manager at Glacier Nalu Campground Resort
Responded Oct 3, 2019
Dear Michael, Thank you for your review. We appreciate any feedback we receive so we can improve our overall quality and guest experience at the campground. We would like to clarify our requirements for long term residents living at the park. First, all residents who stay at our campground need to go through an application process and are provided park rules and regulations prior to moving in. The rules and regulations agreement addresses all of your concerns in this review. Residents who have a washer in their rig, no matter how many occupants they have pay a $40.00 monthly fee. This is not a fine, but a fee for extra water consumption. We appreciate you bringing this concern to our attention and we will reconsider lowering this fee for next year. Our campground does not have the resources to receive and distribute mail for all of our residents, therefore we ask everyone to set up PO boxes prior to moving in to the park. However, we do allow packages to be delivered to our office. We pride ourselves in having a very clean, well-kept campground. To keep to this standard, we do require residents keep their sites clutter-free and ask they perform periodic weed removal around their assigned site during the summer. We have a 5 mph speed limit throughout the park which is a very standard speed limit for any RV Park/Campground. This speed limit is enforced for the safety of all our guests, residents and yourself. We have many people walking around the park including families with small kids. Whenever a guest drives regularly over the speed limit, they will be contacted by our staff and given a friendly reminder to slow down. Safety is our number one priority at the park. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and provide us some feedback. Sincerely, Glacier Nalu Management

Travelling from Vermont to Juneau by RV; this was one of the nicest parks in the northwest. Arrived late (very), had called ahead and woke up owner. Nice park, well kept, site all ready for us, info in the office had us all set for out nearly midnight arrival. Settled up the next morning, got all the scoop on who to see, where to go. Very friendly, very laid back, nice amenities. After visiting campgrounds in Alberta and Yukon, this was a real find. And the WiFi worked!!! It is near town and handy to the Mendenhall Glacier which is and was our objective.

Very clean and friendly owners. They allow an honor system early checkin, since the ferry from Bellingham arrives at 2:45AM. When making the reservations, they were most helpful by both email and phone.
Highly recommended!
