This was a great place to stay. Friendly owner, rooms are comfortable, very clean and quiet. There is a beautiful mountain across from the Inn. The owner knows about the area and can direct you to the bear watching area. We seen grizzly and brown bears. There are a lot of active and old mines in the area. Next time I would bring a gold pan!
Liked the place. Place has an odor but that is expected with the moisture of the area and the age of the building. With that said the place had fresh paint inside new carpet and tile. We had 4. No internet or TV 2 beds. Owner told us before booking. Close to river and Fish creek. On main street as your heading out of town. No noise. Downfall, Check out time is 11. Told owners brother that, came back after breakfast to find someone had started cleaning room. Moved my small bag off bed striped bed. Took all towels and sheets off one bed out of room. We returned at 930 am long before check out.
Owner very talkative but no TV or WiFi as advertised and very dusty in room. Linens smelled of smoke. Did have kitchenette and there are very limited dining options in Hyder. Would not return. Hyder really has nothing to do except bear viewing which we saw none. Salmon were spawning. Gift shops at some establishments were closed.
Menu is good. The staff friendly albeit somewhat eclectic. Prices very reasonable considering where you are, although the prices are not that much different than the Canadian neighbor, Stewart BC. Always a good place to visit. Not sure about the rooms
We've stayed there 3-5 nights 3 different years. Considering it is the best of only two motel in Hyder, the price is very good. In the $75 per night range. Two-storey building somewat rustic, but rooms are clean, comfortable, and well lighted. Not at all run down or tired looking. They use very good linens. Nice bathrooms, plenty of hot water. Being in such a remote area, Internet and TV are not reliable, though the owner has struggled to make it better. Whatever we needed within reason, staff rushes to accommodate. Not unusual to see the occasional "neighborhood" black bear in the area. Do not keep foods on your car. Bears check cars out in parking lots at night.
