The day I left, the front desk left a voicemail on my phone letting me know I forgot my hat. When I called back, the gal that answered didn’t know about it so I heard her ask Barbie about it and heard Barbie say yes they had it. I asked if I mailed them a prestamped mailer, if they could pop it in the mail and they said yes. So I did just that. Then I got a call from Barbie saying they got rid of the hat because they didn’t know who it belonged to. So that was a straight out lie. I was blown away by the dishonesty. The room: we stayed downstairs so we had a view of rocks and the parking lot. The hallways were very dimly lit with different watts/different shades of yellow light bulbs by every single doorway, The hallway reeked of cigarettes, and it sounded like we had elephants in the room above us. They kept stomping around until close to midnight. The only decent thing about this place was the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. With the dishonesty factor alone, I’d not recommend this place or stay there again.…
This is a place to sleep and shower, not much else. Small room where the bed fills most of the space. Cable TV provided, but not much of a reason to hang out in the room. I had a ground floor room on the front. The window was at ground level, and did not seem safe if someone wanted to break in. It is Alaska, so air conditioning is not available. Record heat wave this summer. Leaving the window open did not seem like a good option.
Stayed twice, upstairs and downstairs. Both times on the west side of the building which made the rooms very quiet. Much appreciated that. Older style place, with smallish rooms, but had copious hot water in the shower, very comfortable bed, and was very clean. The staff very friendly and accommodating. Let me check in early, no extra charge.
Basic accommodation. Needed a room after missing the last flight. Minimum required, so needs were met. Clean with comfortable bed. Parking lot view. Decent value. Would not recommend for vacation stay.
We knew going in that this was going to be a mediocre level hotel, and it met that expectation. Our room was basically below ground and super hot, with no way to adjust the temperature in the room. The view from the window was a gravel slope up to the parking lot. The walls were very thin. The location is okay if you have a car, but too far to walk to the spit.
